Art is Ageless® exhibit this month Since the beginning of time, creative expression has brought joy to both its creators and those who experience their art. The Art is Ageless® program offers senior artists the opportunity to share and display their artwork and reaffirms the agelessness of human creativity.

This month, their works are on display at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

“It’s inspiring to see the beautiful pieces these seniors have created,” said Angela Fonseca, marketing director. “The joy it brings to them and others is wonderful, and that’s something we want to celebrate and share with the entire Lawrence community.”

The Art is Ageless exhibit will feature works from local artists who are 65 and older, including a few Presbyterian Manor residents.

The public is welcome to visit the community to view the exhibit of acrylics, oils, photography and ART, continued on page 2

Activities are all about choice Health care residents enjoy their favorite things Suzy Jach remembers when residents in long-term care were expected to attend whatever group activities were taking place day to day. It wasn’t so long ago — Suzy worked at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor in the 1990s, then returned about four years ago.

“I worked in the days that you brought residents to activities even if they didn’t want to come. Now with resident-centered care, we encourage them to come, and we invite them. However, if they don’t want to, it’s their right,” Suzy said. “They’re expecting more out of their life here.”

Suzy serves as an activity assistant in our health care neighborhood and as our social services designee. She says the dual role helps her plan activities because she interviews residents for their social histories when they move in, and she knows what their interests are.
