Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America announces Art is Ageless® winners Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America has announced the winners of its annual, systemwide Art is Ageless® competition. The works of more than 60 senior artists from Kansas and Missouri will be featured in the 2022 Art is Ageless calendar and greeting cards.

Art is Ageless is open exclusively to people age 65 and older. Competition pieces and works must have been completed in the past five years. To be eligible for PMMA’s masterpiece level competition, artists entered a juried competition at one of 15 Presbyterian “Palingenesis of Pulsars and Manor communities in Kansas and Missouri. Planets Part 1” by local artist Artists not interested in competition were invited to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only. More than 160 pieces were judged at the masterpiece level for inclusion in the calendar and Art is Ageless greeting cards.
Craig Boyers won in the painting category and will be featured on a postcard in the 2022 Art is Ageless calendar.
The Best of Show – Professional winner is Carol Rondinelli with her drawing “Just Me and Teddy in a Strange World.” Rondinelli entered the competition at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kan. The Best of Show – Amateur winner is Jan Warren with her quilt “Book Shelf Quilt.” Warren entered the competition at Salina Presbyterian Manor in Salina, Kan. The Art is Ageless program includes art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions on PMMA® campuses throughout the year. Art is Ageless is a copyrighted program of Presbyterian Manors of MidAmerica that started in 1980. The program is an extension of Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America’s wellness programs, which focus on mental, physical, social and spiritual health.
Employee of the month: Shawn Bretton Environmental Services Supervisor Shawn Bretton is our employee of the month. Shawn has been with Salina Presbyterian Manor for more than 16 years. He and his wife, Jennifer, have two children: Daeton, age 16, and Carissa, 12. The family also has one dog and three cats. Shawn’s hobbies are spending time with family; listening, watching, reading and collecting movies, music and books; exploring Kansas and the larger U.S.; writing and filmmaking. One thing you might not know about Shawn is he scares very easily, especially in the dark. But he kind of likes it — he often explores the “spookier side” on his travels. Shawn is still working on becoming a professional writer, and he wants to continue to explore the world with his family. u
