The power of rehabilitation Shaeana Cobbins and Karen Werdehausen provide rehabilitation services for the residents of Fulton Presbyterian Manor.

September 16-22, we celebrated National Rehabilitation Awareness Week.

This week was established by the National Rehabilitation Awareness Foundation to "educate people about the benefits and impact of rehabilitation, develop programs which aim to increase opportunities for the nearly 50 million Americans with disabilities, and help those who are disabled live up to their fullest potential." (from rehabweek.com) At Fulton Presbyterian Manor, we're blessed with many professionals who help in this field, but we'd like to highlight two in particular, Karen Werdehausen and Shaeana Cobbins. Both work for Aegis Therapies.

For Karen, what she enjoys most is "being able to help them through their illness and change their quality of life. I love being able to get them strong

New LPN joins Fulton Presbyterian Manor family Though she’s new to Fulton Presbyterian Manor, Tresa Allen is an experienced nurse.

“Tresa has been in the healthcare field for 30 years, most of those as an LPN. She’s very experienced, and we’re so glad she’s part of our team now,” said Jessica Donelson, health services director.

Tresa’s favorite color is blue, and she loves her four-legged family member, Chloe, a Boston Terrier. Her favorite type of food is Mexican, and she enjoys playing video games, especially Tomb Raider.

“I love, love, love spending time with my six grandchildren: Titus, Kavie, Eli, Brooke, Sissy and Haylie, and I love to volunteer at Vacation Bible School. This is a great memory for me, and I would hope to have a child

remember it as fondly as I do,” said Tresa. “I enjoy helping others most in life. I have been in the helping field as either a nurse or a social worker for over 30 years. I began as a CNA and decided I needed to do more to help.”

It pays to pursue education Congratulations to Fulton Presbyterian Manor staff members who received scholarships from PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America) to pursue further education in their field!

Shelly Mosley began her career at Fulton Presbyterian Manor in 2014.

She started out as a CNA, CMT and is now an LPN. She’s currently attending MACC (Moberly Area Community College) and is pursuing her degree as an RN. When she’s not at work, Shelly enjoys spending time with her husband, four children and two grandchildren.

CNA Kellie Starling is attending the University of Phoenix online, pursuing her bachelor of science in healthcare administration. Kellie has been a CNA for 35 years.

“It’s taking its toll on me, and I want to stay in the medical field. It will better my understanding of the business and the things managers have to go through from the professional side of it,” said Kellie.

When not at work, Kellie has little free time between housework and homework, but spends what she does with her three children and nine grandchildren. In addition to a full work and school load, she is the guardian for three of her grandchildren.

LPN, Medical Records Coordinator/ Unit Coordinator Elinda Trower started at Fulton Presbyterian Manor as an LPN/charge nurse in August 2012.

Elinda is attending Columbia Area Career Center and will then go back to Moberly Area Community College.

want to become a certified medical coder, then will finish my RN degree,” said Elinda. “I want to ensure I’m able to do my job to the best of my ability.”

Elinda has three grown children and one still in high school. She also has one granddaughter and enjoys billiards, target practice, fishing, etching on granite and diamond painting.

has held a variety of positions, including Evening LPN Charge Nurse, Day LPN Charge Nurse, Lead Wound Care Nurse and currently LPN, MDS Coordinator.

She is pursuing her ADN RN through MACC and is looking forward to setting new career goals. Bessie has four children and enjoys cooking and reading when she’s away from work.

enough to return home where they want to be. In the 12 years I've been at Fulton Presbyterian Manor, I've made some amazing friendships, met some amazing families that I've become close with, and hopefully, have impacted many patient's lives."

Shaeana enjoys this personal connection with residents as well.

"The wealth of knowledge they share through stories from past experiences has left me so inspired. I've encountered 4 COMMUNITY MATTERS OCTOBER 2018

many new friends by providing rehab services to the senior population."
