Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America announces Art is Ageless® winners
Jennifer Gillmore joins the staff as director of nursing.
Director of nursing brings wealth of experience, love for Newton to new job
Seven winning artists in Newton Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2022 Art is Ageless calendar produced by PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America®). “Firefly,” a painting by Joey Giblin, and “Rail Journey in Europe,” a painting by Dennis McKay, will appear in the calendar when it is “Reflections,” Phoebe Janzen, released this fall.
After spending 40 years as a resident of El Dorado, Jennifer Gillmore recently relocated to Newton to become Presbyterian Manor’s director of nursing—but that doesn’t mean she’s unfamiliar with her new surroundings.
Works by local winners are automatically entered into a masterpiece level competition with winning art from 14 other PMMA® communities. More than 160 entries were received for this year’s masterpiece competition. The winners are featured in the Art is Ageless calendar with pull-out postcards and greeting cards.
“Newton has always been like a second home to me,” said Jennifer. “I have many family members who have lived here in the past as well as currently.”
“Reflections,” a photograph by Phoebe Janzen, will appear on a postcard in the 2022 calendar. “Shell Bouquet,” a mixed media/craft entry by Mary Goering, “Merry Christmas – what cheer, what cheer,” a Christmas entry by Rosie Goering, “Christmas Horseman,” a Christmas entry by Terry Linenberger, and “Mary and Babe,” a drawing by Rita Patterson, will be featured on greeting cards included with the calendar.
When Jennifer began contemplating a permanent move to Newton and started to look at jobs, Presbyterian Manor quickly rose to the top of her wish list based on reputation alone.

“I am blown away at the talent we have here in our community and am honored that we get to share this exhibit of artwork by seniors,” said Noelle Dickinson, director of marketing at Newton Presbyterian Manor. “Art is Ageless is unique in featuring only the works of artists age 65 and older. “I was interested in a position at Newton Presbyterian Manor because I had heard positive feedback about the community and PMMA as a whole,” said Jennifer. Jennifer ultimately landed the position at Presbyterian Manor thanks to her 24-year career as a

Construction progress Work continues on the renovations to the dining room, lobby area and the hallways connecting to assisted living and the Garden Apartments. Check out these recent shots of the work going on at our campus. Once these renovations are complete, work will begin on the salon renovations and the construction of the new outdoor deck/patio space funded through the Together, We Thrive campaign. u

registered nurse, which has included experience in medical/ surgical acute care, obstetrics and dialysis. Jennifer has also spent 19 years in long-term care during which she served as a minimum dataset coordinator and a director of nursing. After a long, successful career, Jennifer attributes her ongoing passion for nursing to the ability to be in service to others. “I just enjoy being able to be an advocate for others while providing comfort and compassionate care,” said Jennifer.
Sadie is a 7-month-old White Pyrenees owned by Anderson Place CMA Cristie Likins. She took her first tour of the campus and brought smiles and hugs to many.
In her short time at Newton Presbyterian Manor, Jennifer has been struck by overall hospitality of everyone she has come in contact with. “I have had the opportunity to meet some of the wonderful residents and staff,” said Jennifer. “Everyone has been very helpful, and I just want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome.” u Like us on Facebook to stay updated on news and events.

Amy Medina Bravo of the Month goes to Amy Medina! Melinda Ebersole writes, “I had to pick up a resident from the ER at 2 a.m. Amy had everything ready for me including a portable O2 and wheelchair. I didn’t even have to step into the building. Once we got back from the ER, Amy was waiting Bravo of the Month goes for us, and she took to Amy Medina the resident back to the apartment with a smile. Thank you, Amy, for making our 2 a.m. adventure pleasant and being so welcoming to the resident when we returned.” u

Corona Carolers bring joy to residents After many months of singing hymns via Zoom into the family rooms around the campus on Wednesday mornings, the selftitled “Corona Carolers” recently made it to the Kalb Villa porch in person. One of the carolers happens to also deliver for Dillon’s and timed a delivery of donated bouquets for the end of the sing-along. u
