Four local artists to be featured in 40th Art is Ageless® calendar Resident Thelma Mitchell moved into Presbyterian Manor in early August.
For resident Thelma Mitchell, Presbyterian Manor provided great opportunity to reconnect Like most of us, the outbreak of COVID-19 and the social restrictions that followed left Thelma Mitchell feeling detached and depressed.
“I was living in my house in Park Hills, and with the virus, I was by myself every day. It was getting me down that I couldn’t have company or go anywhere,” said Thelma. “Before COVID, I was always doing something—going to exercise class, going to lunch with friends, going to Walmart, going to church—then all of a sudden it just stopped.” Seeing the effect that the quarantine was having on her, Thelma’s daughter, Dora, recommended that she move somewhere where she could at least be in contact with others. The fact that Thelma’s husband, Kenneth, had lived at Farmington Presbyterian Manor and that she knew others in the community, made our community an obvious choice. “I called her and said I was ready to go to Presbyterian Manor and MITCHELL - continued on page 2
Four winning artists in Farmington Presbyterian Manor’s annual Art is Ageless® juried competition will be featured in the 2021 Art is Ageless calendar produced by PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of MidAmerica). “Thoughtful,” a painting by Anita Alsup, “Green Thumb Collage,” a mixed media/crafts entry by Dianne Dickerson, “The Maestros Duet,” a painting by Vada Galvan, and “Blue Woven Jacket,” a fiber arts entry by Joyce Pierson, will appear in the 40th anniversary calendar when it is released this fall. “Snowy and Friends,” a Christmas entry by Dorothy McClanahan, will be featured on the pull-out postcards in the 2021 calendar. In addition, “Gathering Place,” a Christmas entry by Iris Vincent,
