‘Kitty’ finds home at Presbyterian Manor
Groundbreaking set for Fellowship Center

There are a lot of couples who make their home at Farmington Presbyterian Manor, but when it comes to families of three, Phyllis, George and Kitty McGuire are unique.
We are excited to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for our community’s new Fellowship Center at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 5.
Kitty in repose. Kitty, a gray cat with a black stripe that runs from its head down its back, has been a part of the McGuire family for over six years. When it came time for Phyllis and George to move into the community, Phyllis wasn’t about to leave her behind.

Staff fill hearts and empty pockets for Fellowship Center campaign Members of the Farmington community have joined forces to create the Give. Gather. Grow. Fundraising Campaign—a campaign that will support a 3,500-square-foot Fellowship Center with space dedicated to life enrichment, an enhanced outdoor experience and improved
community experience.
As we work to raise the funds needed to make the new Fellowship Center a reality, we are grateful for our employees who not only give their time, energy and compassion to our residents every day, but who also are giving their hardearned finances to help support
this campaign. Through payroll deduction pledges and cash gifts, 23 staff members have pledged to raise $25,000 for the Fellowship Center campaign, and 100% of Executive Director Jane Hull’s leadership team has donated. “This is an incredible accomplishment. Employees at Presbyterian Manor know the difference this is going to make in residents’ lives,” said Patti Christen, regional director of development. We asked just a few of the staff who have made a financial contribution to the campaign to share why it’s important to them. Christine Dement, accounting
Why do you give to the Fellowship Center campaign? “I chose to give to the Fellowship Center because I love the idea of being a part of such a fantastic philanthropic project. “Before we moved here, we lived out in the country and one day we heard a cat meowing. Someone must have dumped her or maybe she was lost, but no one ever came looking for her,” said Phyllis. “Either way, she found the perfect home, and I wasn’t going to leave her when we moved here.” Three years later, with George now in health care, Phyllis and Kitty have made the assisted living community their home and go on daily walks together through the halls. “When we moved in, they said Kitty could come but she couldn’t
