Aberdeen Heights earns zero-deficiency rating for focused infection control survey The Glen at Aberdeen Heights earned a zero-deficiency survey for a focused infection control survey conducted on behalf of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) earlier this month. Aberdeen Heights is a PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America) senior living community with the mission to provide quality senior services guided by Christian values. The December 9 survey is the community’s fifth focused infection control survey with zero deficiencies since April 1, 2020. The community last received zero deficiencies for infection control on November 17, 2020. The focused infection control surveys hone in on a nursing facility’s adherence to Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and CMS guidance for infection control practices to prevent disease at the community. Communities are assessed on staff and resident education on hand hygiene and coughing/sneezing etiquette, cleaning, screening of employees and residents, effective transmission-based precautions, proper use/discarding of personal protective equipment and signage at entrances and resident rooms. It also examines the facility’s policies and emergency preparedness related to a pandemic or outbreak. “A zero-deficiency survey is always something to celebrate because they are not easy to achieve,” said Rick Cumberland, executive director. “Our team has worked hard to keep our residents and each other safe throughout this COVID-19 pandemic. It’s reassuring to know that the CMS surveyors determined we are doing everything that’s expected of us from an infection control perspective.” Senior living communities are surveyed annually by their licensing agency for compliance of regulations established by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and CMS. These regulations are designed to ensure a standard of care is met. By meeting this standard, senior living communities are able to renew their licenses and continue to provide care.

Visitation status is updated weekly on Mondays and as needed as our COVID status changes. Vaccine distribution has begun in our community. Every person who receives the vaccine will strengthen the protection for all residents, staff and the community at-large. PMMA strongly encourages our families, employees and residents to carefully consider obtaining a vaccine for themselves as well as their loved ones.u
