Bosch’s celebrate anniversary On June 27, Floyd and Lillian Bosch celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Meet our stylist

The couple met while in college at St. John’s Lutheran College in Winfield, Kan. After leaving St. John’s, Lillian was a teacher in Wichita while Floyd went on to St. Louis, Mo., to pursue a future in ministry. While apart, Floyd would hitchhike to go see Lillian in Floyd and Lillian Bosch’s wedding photo appeared in the Wichita. He told a local paper for their anniversary. story about how after buying an engagement ring, he sewed it into his shirt pocket so nothing would happen to it on the long trip to go see Lillian.

They were married on a very nice June day in 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Salina.

They have six children (three boys and three girls), 14 grandchildren (7 boys and 7 girls) and six great-grandchildren.

Brittany Metz is our new stylist in the salon at Presbyterian Manor.

Brittany joined us in May and is here Thursdays in the Beauty Salon taking care of any hair needs our residents may have. Brittany also works at Lincoln Avenue Salon in downtown Clay Center.

Brittany attended the Eric Fischer Academy in Wichita and has been a stylist for five years.

Her favorite part of her Thursdays at Presbyterian Manor is working with the residents. She said she “loves them and wants to take care of them.” She said that being here, she has seen firsthand how well the residents are taken care of and that it is a place she is very happy to have her own family members call home.

Bike Across Kansas rolls into Clay Center Presbyterian Manor On Thursday, June 13, Clay Center welcomed Bike Across Kansas. Celebrating its 45th year, Bike Across Kansas is an annual ride for cyclists starting at the Colorado border and ending just over 500 miles later in Atchison. There were more than 800 riders and an additional 150 support volunteers participating in the 2019 ride.

We were lucky to have several members of their group stop by Clay Center Presbyterian Manor for a snack, to visit with our residents and even provide a bit of entertainment. A group of very talented cyclists who call themselves the “spokesmen” gave us a treat by performing their barbershop style music.u

We were ready with snacks for the BAK participants.

Bosch – continued from page 1 They spent 12 years serving the Lutheran Ministry in England before moving to Clay Center. Lillian spent more than 20 years with Big Lakes Developmental Center as vice president of case management.

To celebrate their upcoming anniversary, the couple recently took a trip to Estes Park, Colo., with 34 family members ranging in age from 10 months old to 90. They all stayed in one large cabin together, where the families took turns preparing a meal for the entire group to share. There are several activities any were welcome to take part in including playing cards, horseback riding, hiking, white water rafting and of course, a Sunday devotion.

When asked what advice they have for 65 years of wedded bliss, they both said, “Marry a Christian, have Christ in your marriage and bring your children up with a home life based in faith.”

One thing they like about Presbyterian Manor is our mission statement to provide quality senior services guided by Christian values.
