Art is Ageless® call for entries underway Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor has issued a call for entries for the Art is Ageless® juried exhibit to be held March 14 through 17, 2016. Entries of artistic works will be accepted from any area artist who is 65 years of age or older to exhibit and/or compete for an opportunity to be featured in the 2017 Art is Ageless calendar. The Art is Ageless® Program encourages Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor residents and other area seniors to express their creativity through its annual competition, as well as art classes, musical and dramatic events, educational opportunities and current events discussions throughout the year. The late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale once wrote of a famous shrine in Kyoto, Japan, consisting of 15 stones of different shapes and sizes in a garden. Tradition has it that the stones represent the 15 basic problems of mankind—you are to name your own. However, not all the stones can be seen at the same time.
The message of the stones, Dr. Peale said, is that “no one can or should try to complete, much less solve, all of his or her problems at once.” It is better to concentrate on one problem at a time. That way there is more mental strength to apply, he said. Sometimes life presents us with a multiplicity of problems, like the saying “when it rains it pours;” and sometimes big problems have little problems sticking to them like sandburs.
