Presbyterian Manor recognizes donors, volunteers at event

Abundant giving and living By Bill Bowles, chaplain

Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Bill Mueller and Sarah Griggs

Arkansas City Presbyterian Manor’s Mission Committee and community leadership hosted a combined donor and volunteer appreciation event September 25 at Wheat State Winery. “The combination of the two recognitions made a lot of sense because many of the 150 individuals invited support our mission as both volunteers and donors,” said Sarah Griggs, executive director. The evening was spent celebrating the effect that each of those individuals have on Presbyterian Manor’s mission to provide quality senior services guided by Christian values. During the past fiscal year (July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019), 100 volunteers gave 1,000 hours of their time to the staff and residents of Presbyterian Manor. In addition, more than 300 donors gave a combined $63,000 to support our mission. Two volunteers were recognized for their commitment to the mission and spirit of volunteerism. Amy Powers was recognized with the Distinguished Service Award for her volunteerism working directly with the residents. Amy is unique DONORS - continued on page 3

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. As it is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to CHAPLAIN - continued on page 5
