Try this family favorite to power through the winter

As the cold settles in, it’s time to dig out some hearty family recipes that warm both the body and soul. Aberdeen Village social worker Elizabeth Miller submitted a recipe that is a go-to Miller family favorite. It can be served as an entrée or a hearty side. Enjoy!

Aberdeen Village honored for achievements

“Bean Mash” Vegetable Medley Serves 4

Aberdeen Village received a certificate of recognition from PMMA (Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America) for reaching goals in fiscal year 2019, July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019, at a banquet Nov. 13 in Wichita, Kan.

Ingredients:

The recognition came through PMMA’s Emerald Awards Program, designed to encourage its 16 locations to achieve high levels of resident and employee satisfaction, meet financial goals, build philanthropic support for the organization’s mission and meet marketing goals. There are 11 areas measured for the Emerald Awards.

½ onion, diced

1 tablespoon coconut oil 1 carrot, chopped

To receive an Emerald, a community has to meet its goals in all 11 areas. Certificates of recognition were given out to communities that reached their goals in one or more category.

Aberdeen Village was recognized for meeting independent living and skilled nursing resident satisfaction goals.

1 teaspoon soy sauce
