ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY We want to acknowledge the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation, the traditional custodians of the land on which we gather today. We pay our respects to their Elders' past, present and emerging. We extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples gathered with us here today.
A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR It is with an enormous sense of pride that I welcome you to the PLC and Scotch College production of Elf Jr. Over the past few months, Elf Jr. has become so much more than a show we have been working towards. What began as a vision has grown into something filled with energy, laughter, creativity and heart. Watching that vision take shape, and seeing the incredible talent, dedication and spirit of our students and creative team bring it to life, has been one of the most rewarding experiences. I feel incredibly proud of what we have created together and deeply grateful to everyone who has made it possible. From the very first rehearsal, our cast has brought an unwaveringly festive spirit and sense of passion that has been such a joy to be around. They have thrown themselves into this production wholeheartedly, stepping into every rehearsal with enthusiasm and a willingness to be present in the joy of those moments. They have grown not only in confidence as performers but developed such strong connections as a cast. It has been so special to watch this group of students become a true ensemble, learning to trust one another and work together towards something I believe they should be incredibly proud of. Musical theatre is no small undertaking. Bringing singing, dancing and acting together at such a refined level takes dedication, discipline and an enormous amount of hard work. Our students have embraced that challenge with such drive and passion, and their enthusiasm throughout this process has genuinely been a highlight for me. They have brought so much more than their performance skills to this show and I hope they recognise just how much they have achieved. I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our incredible creative team, who have given so much of themselves to bring this vision to life. The beautiful, refined choreography, the extensive detailing in the set design, the magic that the lighting brings to the stage and the absolutely breathtaking vocals and harmonies are all a testament to their extraordinary talent and dedication. Every element has been thoughtfully crafted, but what means the most to me is the heart and soul they have poured into this production. Their generosity, expertise and unwavering support have helped our students achieve something truly special and I could not be more grateful to have shared this journey with them. Our backstage crew also deserve enormous recognition. From props and set changes and the many responsibilities behind the curtain, they have worked hard and become an integral part of the team. So much goes into creating a production that an audience never sees and I am very thankful to every student and staff member who has contributed along the way. At its heart, Elf Jr. is a story about kindness, belonging and the magic that comes from embracing the people around us. Fittingly, some of the most special moments of this experience have happened beyond the stage: the laughter in rehearsals, the excitement when a scene or musical number finally comes together, and the way this cast has grown as a group of young people who genuinely support one another. These are the moments that make directing a production like this so special. I hope you enjoy watching Elf Jr. as much as we have enjoyed bringing it to life. Sit back, soak up the Christmas spirit and let us share a little of that magic with you.
