Tuesday, Nov 28th – Var: 6:00-7:30pm, JV/FS: 7:00-8:30pm Varsity Head Coach: Josh Cain Thursday, Nov 30th – Var: 6:00-7:30pm, JV/FS: 7:00-8:30pm Email: Jpcain@capousd.org (If you need to record a mile time, plan to do it on 11/30 at 6:30pm, before 2nd tryout) *In the event of inclement weather, the tryout date may be rescheduled (12/5 or 12/7). Information will be advertised at the high school and at our website www.tritongirlslacrosse.com.

What to Bring:  ALL players must have an athletic clearance on record at the high school or else they cannot participate (MUST be verified prior to attending a tryout day)  Filled out Pre-tryout page  Cleats or running shoes, Stick, Mouthguard, Goggles, and Water (If a player does not have a stick or goggles we do have some extra to lend out). Players need their own mouthguard.  Players may NOT wear any club affiliated clothing

Expectations: 1. All athletes will arrive AT LEAST 15 minutes early to check in, warm-up, and be ready to go promptly at the start time 2. All athletes will participate in all tryouts and drills during the time frame. (Unless other arrangements have been made AHEAD OF TIME). If you are participating in a winter sport and have a conflict, you must communicate directly with Coach Cain.

Assessment: 

Stick work: Passing and Catching both Left and Right, Cradling, Shooting, and Ground Balls



Defense: 8 Meter Defense, Redefending on Attack, Transitions, and Communication



Attack: 8 Meter Offense, Transitions, Decision Making, and Communication



Game Situations: Man up, 3v3, 5v5, 7v7, Scrimmages



Athleticism, Coach-ability, Work Ethic, Leadership, Intensity, and Intangibles

 Fitness: 3 x 300 on field (Target Time Under 1 minute each) 11/28, Mile Time (TT under 7:45) 11/30 Players are chosen for the team based on position of need. Players will be placed on the level that will allow them to receive beneficial playing time.

Post-Tryouts: Players will be contacted via email no later than afternoon of 12/3/23 about their team status. Players will either be notified that they made one of the teams or that they did not make a team.

Players will have until 12/6/23 to accept their position on the team via email (using the email the player provided). If you do not receive an email, there was a problem and you need to contact Coach.

TEAM INFO In season, we go Monday-Friday. Each day will be either a game or practice. Practice times will depend of field availability. Varsity games are typically at 5:30 and JV at 7:00 same day. JV2 games will be TBD and played when games can be fit into the schedule.

Varsity  Approximately 22 players on the team. 2 Away Games on Sat 2/24.  Playing time in games determined by best player performance/team chemistry JV1  Approximately 22 players on the team. 2 Away Games on 2/24. Tournament on Sat 3/16.  Playing time set so all players gain experience (however, game time can be lost by violating the team contract) JV2  Approximately 22 players on the team. Tournaments on Sat 3/16 and 4/27.  Playing time set so all players gain experience (however, game time can be lost by violating the team contract) Practices will begin in January. Players are expected to participate unless there is a major conflict (such as playing in another sport for the high school). Players who miss significant time may be dropped from the team and not allowed to participate for the season.

Donations and Fundraisers The suggested donation for the 2024 spring season is expected to be around $500 

The suggested donation is calculated by taking all the costs for the season and dividing it by the number of players participating. There are ways to help offset the suggested donation which will be discussed in an email and at the meeting in January.



Every player will be required to participate in a team fundraiser during season.
