2021 | San Clemente Girls Water Polo Tryout

SCHS Girls’ Water Polo Tryouts 2021-22 Head Coach: Ikaika Aki (ikaika.aki@gmail.com) The following information is for all new and returning girls who are interested in trying out for the SCHS Girls’ Water Polo teams for the upcoming Winter 2021-22 season: Tryout Information ● Tryouts will be on the following dates: o Monday, August 23rd: 2:00pm – 4:30pm at the SCHS Pool Deck o Tuesday, August 24th: 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the SCHS Pool Deck ● All prospective athletes must complete their athletic clearance online prior to being able to tryout; this includes uploading a current physical examination. Go to www.sctritons.com – click on Athletics – click on Athletic Clearance. o -If you were already cleared this summer, you do not need to get cleared again ● Do not wear any club affiliated attire. SCHS athletic apparel is OK. ● Student-athletes must be academically eligible (2.0 or higher GPA and pass four classes each semester) in order to participate Evaluation Criteria ● Tenacity- Win 50/50 balls and individual matchups, and bring maximum effort every day. Every repetition has tremendous value, so take advantage of every opportunity. ● Coachability- Maintain a positive, productive attitude when learning new skills/tactics while immediately applying coaching instruction. Patience is given with every studentathlete, but those who demonstrate proactive reinforcement will receive stronger consideration than those who need regular reminders of previous instruction ● Athleticism- A mini-combine will test speed, strength, and overall fitness through a combination of swimming, mobility, and leg strength exercises Commitment ● All levels practice or play games Monday through Friday, and occasionally on Saturdays during the official high school season. Training will begin on August 25th following the conclusion of tryouts and will continue through the fall semester, into winter break, and into a portion of the spring semester. There will be training during winter break but the schedule is still being put together at this time.

Informational Meeting ● An informational meeting for all parents will take place on Tuesday August 24th at 8pm at SCHS. Please make every effort to attend as we will cover many items pertaining to the upcoming season.
