AND THE IMPRINT OF TIME:

TOWARD A NEW DESIRABILITY

The Autumn-Winter 27–28 season is unfolding within a context of unprecedented technological acceleration. Automated systems and artificial intelligence are now reaching levels of speed and precision that are redefining production processes, driving increasing standardisation.

In this world, where perfection and efficiency have become the domain of technology, value is shifting. It no longer lies solely in flawless execution, but in the ability to reveal a human presence. Marks of time, alterations and signs of wear are thus becoming expressions of singularity and narrative, carrying a story and character that cannot be replicated by machines.

Materials and surfaces imbued with lived experience are thereby strengthening emotional attachment. They are introducing a sensitive dimension, where each alteration becomes the trace of a journey, a use, a memory. In contrast to contemporary immediacy, these expressions are establishing a slower temporality, capable of sustaining desire over time.

The Matter of Ease theme reflects a renewed priority given to people: simplifying usage, combining comfort and functionality, and creating freer and more spontaneous experiences.

EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES & CHALLENGES

Digital and technological environments are reaching increasing levels of complexity, often exceeding individual capacity for understanding and control. A lgorithms, omnipresent yet largely invisible, are influencing our behaviors and choices, while AI systems capable of generating realistic text, images and videos are blurring the boundary between real and generated content. More recently, the shift from generative AI to autonomous agents—capable of acting without control or prompting— has raised new questions, alongside the undeniable benefits they provide.

These rapid developments are reinforcing the need to regain control and to reframe our environments, whether these are physical or digital, within a relationship better aligned with human needs.

HUMAN AT THE CORE

Human-centric approaches in the digital world are reflecting this shift. It is no longer simply about accelerating digital transformation in a continuous pursuit of innovation, but about bringing people back to the heart of digital experiences whenever possible.

Similarly, in product development and innovation, the focus is on designing solutions that are useful, scalable and adapted to real needs.

THE LIVING WORLD:

INTENSITY & DIVERSITY

The season is celebrating the intrinsic strength of the living world, reflecting a deep need to reconnect with its vitality.

Recent seasons have seen a disruptive shift opening the way to other, stranger or more subversive, forms of beauty, nourished by the diversity of living. For AutumnWinter 27–28, this direction is intensifying. Rejecting artifice and standardization, the influence of the organic world is asserting itself, inviting the embrace of all forms of beauty in their living and evolving nature.
