TAGWALK was at Denim Première Vision for an exclusive talk to give us the trends and must-have products for S/S19 thanks to data analysis.

During Denim Première Vision, Alexandra Van Houtte detailed denim trends for the Spring Summer 19 season using the structure of denim collections over the last 9 seasons, analysing the use of denim by major brands and young designers and eventually speaking about the future of denim.

“We have a good overview of what is happening in the industry,” said Van Houtte. With +25k registered users and a fast-growing audience (+749% since its launch), TAGWALK is mainly used by the BtoB sector, including creatives and media.

TAGWALK's approach is based on focusing on major designers (well-known fashion brands with huge shows) and prescribers (young talents and emerging brands).

A quick glimpse at SS18 and Resort top-ten most-seen looks shows us that major designers and prescribers are interpreting denim in different ways.

OVERSIZED DENIM

Oversize denim was a massive trend in FW17, influenced by strong silhouettes from Celine, Calvin Klein, Victoria Beckham and Vêtements.

Van Houtte noted that it is now still oversize but differently executed: way more smaller and elegant.

Whereas prescribers use oversize with huge over-exaggerated in dimension and super street looks.

There is a big contrast between major designers using raw denim as utility wear and city uniforms but still relaxed, while prescribers such as Marine Serre are highlighting the feminine side of raw denim in sophisticated and elegant pieces.
