Ahmedabad, Gujarat Hindi, English, Gujarati

My name is Prem Kumar, and I am currently in my 4th year of the Bachelor of Architecture program at Malviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur. I am passionate about the intersection of design, technology, and sustainability, and I am eager to gain practical experience through an internship that aligns with these interests.

During my summer internship at Devsaya Architects, I gained hands-on experience in various aspects of architectural design. I worked on terrace garden designs, interiors, and the working drawings of residential projects, enhancing my understanding of spatial planning and construction. Additionally, I had the opportunity to explore CNC cutting for custom design elements, which further strengthened my interest in the integration of technology with architecture.

I am seeking an internship where I can contribute my skills in design and technology while expanding my knowledge of sustainable architecture. This project presents an innovative design for a bus terminus that includes both government and private platforms, alongside various passenger amenities. With a capacity for 50 buses, the terminus also features 10 hotel rooms, 2 dormitories, and an entertainment zone.

The design prioritizes efficient and orderly passenger circulation to reduce congestion and enhance user experience. Clear, separate routes are established for arriving and departing passengers, ensuring minimal interaction and a smooth flow throughout the space. Departing passengers enter through dedicated entrances with access to waiting halls and platforms, while arriving passengers are directed along distinct pathways, allowing for seamless movement into the terminal.

Through this thoughtful approach to circulation, the design fosters a safe, organized, and comfortable environment, enhancing functionality and creating a positive experience for all users.

SCHOOL DESIGN

This school design, catering to students from pre-primary to 12th grade, is thoughtfully crafted for Jaipur’s climate, maximizing natural light while minimizing heat gain. The layout divides the school into distinct blocks for pre-primary, primary, secondary, and senior secondary classes, along with a dedicated block for administration and a multipurpose hall. Each block is carefully oriented to capture ample daylight, reducing dependency on artificial lighting and creating a welcoming, well-lit learning environment.

Shaded walkways and courtyards connect the blocks, facilitating airflow and providing comfortable outdoor spaces for students to gather and learn. The multipurpose hall, centrally located, serves as a versatile space for sports, events, and assemblies. Using locally sourced materials and passive cooling techniques, the design emphasizes sustainability, efficiency, and comfort, creating a learning environment attuned to Jaipur’s climate and fostering a nurturing, cohesive atmosphere across age groups.

MOTEL DESIGN

This motel is strategically positioned along the bustling DelhiJaipur highway, offering a refreshing experience of modern architecture to travelers. The design is carefully zoned into three main blocks: a shopping complex with a vibrant restaurant, a spacious banquet hall for events, and 4-5 well-appointed family suites for a comfortable stay. These blocks are arranged in a fidget spinner formation, optimizing visual connectivity and enhancing natural wind flow throughout the site. This unique layout ensures guests feel a constant connection to their surroundings while enjoying privacy within each space.

To amplify the experience, water bodies are thoughtfully integrated across the site, adding aesthetic appeal while facilitating a cooling effect. This natural cooling system provides a refreshing environment, especially during peak summer months, by circulating cool breezes throughout the premises. The use of contemporary design elements in both architecture and landscaping aims to create a modern yet welcoming ambiance, making this motel an ideal stopover for highway travelers seeking comfort and style. FARMHOUSE DESIGN

This compact farmhouse, set on a 20m x 28m plot in the hills of Rishikesh, is thoughtfully designed to harmonize with the natural contours of its site. Embracing the terrain, the structure minimizes impact on the landscape while framing serene, panoramic views through well positioned balconies in each room. Large windows and glass walls bring ample natural light into the farmhouse, enhancing the connection with the outdoors while maintaining privacy and a cozy ambiance within.

The design prioritizes efficient use of space, incorporating a 3 BHK layout that maximizes comfort without excess, with each room opening up to its own balcony, allowing residents to enjoy the stunning surroundings. This farmhouse embodies the simplicity and tranquility of hillside living, creating an intimate retreat that feels at one with nature yet meets modern living needs.

Rich in history and culture, Rajasthan’s buildings merge durability with intricate craftsmanship. Constructed from local materials like sandstone and marble, they are designed to endure the harsh desert environment. The havelis of Jaisalmer, famous for their exquisite carvings and ornate jharokhas, are a testament to this artistry. Many structures feature decorative screens that allow light while ensuring privacy. From the grand Amber Fort to the elegant havelis, each building has its own story to tell. This project focuses on creating a measured drawing of a haveli in Bikaner, reflecting Rajput architectural style.

DETAILS

A Jharokha is a traditional overhanging balcony, commonly seen in Rajasthani and Mughal architecture, known for its intricate carvings and latticework. It served as a space for royal women to observe the outside world while maintaining privacy, reflecting the practice of purdah.
