TJLA MEMBER MEETINGS

The Texas Junior Limousin Association will hold membership meetings at the Fort Worth and Houston junior heifer shows. The meeting in Fort Worth will be Saturday, January 20 at 11 a.m. in the meeting room above barn 1. The Houston meeting will be Saturday, March 10 at 10 a.m. in room 206 of the NRG Center. These will be great opportunities to meet and greet fellow members and exhibitors.

Plans for the TJLA Field Day in Bryan will be discussed as well.

LONE STAR SHOOT-OUT

Juniors will compete for a purse of $10,000 with their Lone Star Shoot-Out eligible heifers January 20, 2018, during the Fort Worth junior heifer show. The Lone Star Shoot-Out is schedule for 4 p.m. in the Green Arena.

SOUTHWESTERN EXPOSITION & LIVESTOCK SHOW ANNOUNCES 2018 JUDGES

Fellow Members and Friends, Another year has come and gone, and we now begin a brand new year. January will be a busy time for TLA and TJLA members in Fort Worth beginning with the Lone Star Shoot-Out January 20, followed by the FWSS junior Limousin show January 21.

The following week’s events begin with Stowers Limousin Texas Tradition IV sale at their ranch in Bridgeport, Texas, January 25, the TLA’s Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale will be held January 26 in the West arena of the Richardson-Bass Building located on the FWSS grounds. Both sales offer Limousin breeders an opportunity to add valuable genetics to their herds. The Fort Worth Stock Show Medal of Excellence Limousin show will be held January 27 and will be followed by the TLA’s annual member meeting, banquet and benefit auction.

These events are very important to the TLA as they set the pace for the rest of the year. I encourage members or prospective members to attend as many as possible. Breeders have invested time and resources to exhibit their cattle and promote the breed and appreciate your support. The TLA member meeting provides members a venue to voice their opinions regarding the TLA. The TLA banquet is a time when old and new friends can enjoy a time of fellowship and share a common interest. The benefit auction provides much needed financial support that allows the TLA to promote the breed through its website, the TLA News, stock show premiums, consignment sales, and the junior program.

The Junior Limousin heifer show will be judged by Matt Claeys, West Lafayette Indiana; Jirl Buck of Madill, Oklahoma, will serve as the judge of Level I Medal of Excellence Show; and Paul Maulsby of College Station, Texas, will evaluate the Lone Star Shoot-Out heifers.

2018 TLA FORT WORTH STOCK SHOW EVENTS

Here’s the schedule of events for the TLA events held during the 2018 Fort Worth Stock Show. The Cowtown Classic Limousin Sale will be Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. in the West arena of the Richardson-Bass Building. The Level I MOE Limousin Show will be Saturday, January 27 at Noon. Following the show, the annual TLA membership meeting will be held in rooms D and E of the RichardsonBass Building followed by awards banquet, dinner and benefit auction.

TEXAS LIMOUSIN ASSOCIATION BENEFIT AUCTION

The 2018 TLA’s benefit auction will be held at the conclusion of its annual banquet held in rooms D and E of the Richardson-Bass building Saturday, January 27. The benefit auction provides much needed support to the TLA. This support allows the TLA to continue to promote Limousin in the State of Texas and beyond through the website, the TLA News, the junior program and consignment sales.

SPRINGHILL SUITES IS HOST HOTEL FOR TLA FORT WORTH EVENTS

The SpringHill Suites located at 3250 Lovell Avenue will once again serve as the host hotel for the TLA’s events held during the Fort Worth Stock Show. A room block has been set for the TLA with a rate of $114 plus tax for a King Suite. Reservations can be made by calling 817/878-2554.
