There are permanent collections of minerals, natural history exhibits, a planetarium with laser shows and an Imax theater, a butterfly habitat, a paleontology exhibit with dinosaurs, and a new chemistry hall. Cullen’s American Grille has emerged as one of the most popular restaurants in Clear Lake and the Houston Area. At a massive 38,000 square feet, the restaurant’s 200-plus seat dining room, nightclub, and eight private rooms can accommodate almost 1,000 people. The restaurant’s bar, which features over 360 American whiskeys from 12 states, as well as whisky from Scotland, Ireland, Tasmania and Japan. Starting at $15, you’ve got a selection of about 80 whiskeys you can choose from to get a one-ounce pour of each one of those whiskeys. Currently, the restaurant’s most expensive pour is Macallan Flask, which is one of 400 bottles and sells for about $400 an ounce. Cullen’s also has one of the 273 bottles of Michter’s Celebration bourbon that it’s selling for $10,000, but they’re both about to be supplanted by something far more expensive.

Richmond Arms is a lively, oldfashioned pub, complete with seasonal brews, too many beers on tap to count and a bevy of Celtic accents ringing throughout the establishment. Even during the week, an evening here feels like an Irish beer advertisement, “Lots of British nationals” feel at home in this “authentic” Briargrove area pub that some claim is the closest thing to England “this side of the big pond”; “wood beams and red accents” and a “friendly sta” greet “serious game fans”, who come for the “great beer selection” and pub grub, plus darts and regular trivia nights.

The King’s Head Pub hails back to royal Britannia with a classic wood features, a large stone fireplace, a portrait of King Henry VIII. The pub features a full outdoor patio area, and over 5000 square feet of seating area with plenty of parking space. Serving authentic English food including Scotch eggs, Sausage rolls, and Ploughman’s Platters as well as great pizzas and other pub grub. Beers on draft (pardon, draught) include a mix of locals like Saint Arnolds, Bualo Bayou and Karbach alongside imported faves like Smithwick’s, Boddingtons, Harp and Newcastle.

Reminiscent of Prohibition-era America, with dark wood and crisp black tablecloths, Sullivan’s Steakhouse is for all the cool cats in town looking for a bite to eat and a drink to sip. Known for their martinis and live music, Sullivan’s is a festive place to spend an evening – a 1940s-era, Chicagostyle steakhouse, featuring steaks, martinis and live jazz. With a decadent interior and classic steak cuts, Sullivan’s creates a high-end atmosphere for celebratory meals.

House specialties include bone-in rib-eye and horseradish mashed potatoes and libations are plentiful - wine, scotch and cocktails, and a dedicated martini bar.
