FROM OUR CEO 2025 has been a remarkable time of growth, resilience, and community for People’s Resource Center.

With the expansion to a two-building Wheaton Campus, and improvements to our Westmont facility, we are able to better serve neighbors across DuPage County.

Since our founding in 1975, PRC’s spirit of community has made our mission unique. Volunteers and supporters ensure that every program we offer is grounded in respect and inclusion that honors the neighbors we serve.

This year we were overjoyed to celebrate PRC’s 50th Anniversary of neighbor-to-neighbor impact in DuPage County. The milestone brought opportunities to reflect on our history, to reconnect with neighbors, and to renew our focus. We celebrated with a special Volunteer Appreciation Week, held Open Houses, expanded Community Partnerships, and shared PRC stories and memories.

As we celebrated, PRC services have continued nonstop to adapt to community needs. More neighbors have turned to PRC for emergency assistance. Economic uncertainty, along with safety net cuts, have put stress on local families. We are already putting our expanded facilities to full use.

As our 50th Anniversary year draws to a close, we celebrate a legacy shaped by generations of volunteers, donors, faith communities, partners, service groups and neighbors who have made PRC what it is today. Our mission is more urgent than ever for the neighbors who turn to us. We are grateful for your support to make it all possible, through food and supply drives, generous donations, volunteerism, and spreading the word.

We look forward to building on this legacy together, continuing to create a stronger and more hopeful DuPage County for the years ahead.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER: 50th Anniversary PRC’s Wheaton Campus was expanded with the addition of the 211 Naperville Road building. Community partners and local leaders joined to celebrate the ribbon-cutting ceremony. PRC’s Wheaton Campus now includes two full-service buildings with space for an improved food pantry and loading dock, empowerment classrooms and tutoring spaces, clothes closet, welcoming intake areas, job assistance, literacy and art programs, social services, and offices.

Improved spaces in Wheaton and Westmont have expanded service capacity and increased opportunities to welcome more neighbors to Open Houses, Career Fairs, educational workshops and neighbor-to-neighbor programs.

Wheaton City Council recognized PRC’s 50th Anniversary with a formal proclamation from the City.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER: 50th Anniversary PRC was founded in 1975, and marked 50 years of neighbor-to-neighbor mission! Celebrations included recognition of PRC’s Founders, and words from community members across the decades. PRC has grown from reaching 125 neighbors in 1975 to serving thousands of neighbors across DuPage County every year. This year’s annual Holly & Hope Luncheon included an inspiring spotlight on PRC Job Assistance and Adult Literacy Programs.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAM: Highlights Expanded Clothes Closet Reopens in Wheaton The long-awaited Clothes Closet in Wheaton reopened as the larger Wheaton Campus provided the needed space. The larger space allows PRC to offer a greater selection of clothing in a department store-type setting. Neighbors can browse through a vast selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Last year 1,100 households shopped for high-quality, in season clothing through PRC.

Annual Career Fair PRC connected job seekers with local employers in our 10th annual Career Fair, held at the Wheaton Public Library. Our largest Career Fair in PRC’s history welcomed 442 attendees and 32 employers. PRC’s Computer Training, Adult Literacy and Art Programs offered workshops and resources for job seekers. What’s more, an October Career Fair in Westmont welcomed 82 job seekers and highlighted the full range of PRC offerings for attendees.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAM: Highlights Partnering with the Conservation Foundation PRC was delighted to launch a partnership with the Conservation Foundation through its Green Earth Harvest’s Farm to Pantry program. During the growing season, this program provides local, fresh and organic produce to two PRC food markets – in Westmont and in West Chicago at our schoolbased market. PRC is delighted to grow this local partnership.

New Baler Introducing – the cardboard baler! The baler allows PRC to significantly reduce our waste from cardboard boxes.

It condenses 4 dumpsters of cardboard into one bale, and reduces work for volunteers.

It’s a game changer for our green efforts!

New Online Market Ordering in Wheaton!

Online grocery ordering was expanded to PRC Wheaton, and it has been well-received by our neighbors. Across the organization, PRC pantry teams fulfilled 1,600 online orders this year with plans to expand.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER PROGRAMS: Highlights Computer Training and Literacy Last year, our Computer Training program offered 52 computer classes across PRC’s buildings, partner sites and virtual offerings. Programs helped neighbors keep pace with new technology and computer basics, while expanding subjects like AI workshops.

Survey results showed 75% of students joined to improve their personal digital literacy, while 20% focused on job readiness and professional growth. As technology continues to evolve, our Computer Training program will be here to ensure no one is left behind.

Social Services Impact Last year, PRC’s Social Services team received a record 5,942 calls from neighbors seeking support— most commonly for rent and housing, transportation assistance for gas and car repairs, and general household bills. PRC provided 1,139 direct financial assistance services, helping 600 households stay safely housed, maintain vital

transportation, and navigate financial emergencies with dignity.

PRC’s Social Services team remains a trusted lifeline for residents facing crisis, offering compassionate guidance and stabilizing support to strengthen well-being across DuPage County.

PEOPLE’S RESOURCE CENTER: Westmont Building 10th Anniversary PRC moved into our Westmont location in 2015, and since that time we served 13,000 local families in the food pantry and hosted 18,000 visits to the Clothes Closet.

In August, we celebrated 10 years of impact in the Westmont facility.

Westmont and surrounding communities have continued to support PRC’s mission and get involved as volunteers and champions. We look forward to many more years of serving neighbors with this caring community!
