Log on to: www.redwoodcity.org/parks 1. Go to “online registration” 2. You will need to set up an account 3. You may then log on and register 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION •

Pre-registration (3 days prior to the start date at the latest) is required for all classes! In-class registrations will not be accepted.

•

For Registration information call 780-7311.

•

Register early! Many classes fill before their start dates.

•

Classes may be cancelled if there is low enrollment.

•

All registrations are taken on a first come first serve basis.

•

Mail In & Fax In receipts will be mailed. We will not call you to confirm your registration.

•

A non-refundable $2 convenience fee will now be applied to all online transactions.

•

Waiting lists will be established if a program is full. If a space becomes available we will contact you. You will not be charged for the class unless you are enrolled. If you wrote a check for several classes and you are put on the waitlist, the remaining balance of your check will be automatically credited to your account for future use in our programs. If you would like a refund, please contact the department at 650.780.7311.

REFUND & CREDIT POLICY •

If a class is cancelled by the department, a full refund will be issued, less online convenience fees.

•

CLASS Cancellations made 1 week prior to the class start date will receive a refund less a $5 cancellation fee.

•

Students who wish to withdraw from a class less than one week prior to the start date will receive a department credit which may be applied to any future recreation department activity, less the $5 cancellation fee. SINGLE DAY WORKSHOPS CANNOT BE REFUNDED AT THIS TIME.

•

A $5 per class cancellation fee will be charged for processing refunds for all classes.

•

There is NO REFUND for the $2.00 convenience fee charged by ActiveNet when you register online. This fee is collected by the Active Network to offset the costs of providing the service, and is not collected by the City of Redwood City.

•

In general, no refunds or credits will be issued after the class begins.

•

Students who are dissatisfied with a program for any reason must fill out a program evaluation prior to receiving a credit so we can make the class better in the future. Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the program supervisor.

•

This policy applies to our fee based recreation programs and not to: Adult sports leagues, building/facility rentals & fees, food concessions, special events, recreational (open) swimming, aerobics and fitness passes, trips and class materials fees.

RESIDENT STATUS- Any person with a home Redwood City mailing address is considered a resident. A Redwood City P.O. Box or business address will not be taken as proof of residency. A non-resident is someone who lives in another city. We have reinstated Non-resident class fees.

WE’RE ONLY HUMAN- With so much planning, sometimes we make mistakes. Occasionally, locations change, number of classes change, and of course we have typos. Please read your receipts carefully, we will correct any changes in locations, times, dates, and fees here, as well as alert you of any additional items you may need for your activities. Serving the Broader Redwood City Community The Fair Oaks Community Center is a multi-service facility offering a variety of services to the broader Redwood City Community. The mission of the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) is to promote positive collaboration and active engagement by residents in the communities we serve. Services include training individuals to communicate and solve problems together, facilitating group and community meetings, and public participation skill building. The program provides assistance to crime victims who have suffered physical injury or the threat of injury as the result of a violent crime. Our program provides assistance to eligible victims and/or their family members for out-of-pocket expenses resulting from violent crimes. Advocates are available to meet with victims by appointment or on a drop-in basis at Fair Oaks Community Center on Fridays between 9am-12pm. LIL’ LEARNERS PRESCHOOL

Age 8-17 with Teresa Garcia This after-school program teaches you the basics of sewing while you work on creative projects with other kids your age. You’ll make a new machine-sewn project each week that you can take home and show off to your friends and family. If this is your first time sewing, we’ll start you off with some great beginner projects. And if you’ve been sewing for a while, we’ll challenge and develop your skills. All of the use of sewing machines, basic patterns and notions (you furnish your own instructor approved fabric) is included. Our classes challenge youngsters in a fun and exiting way combining music, movement, and motivation. Taught by the staff of Stanford Tennis Coach John Whitlinger and USPTA Professional Tom Sarsfield.

Enjoy top-flight instruction from the staff of Stanford Hall of Famer John Whitlinger and Stanford/USPTA Pro Tom Sarsfield. Youth and adult classes of 3-8 students will consist of six to eight hours of instruction. Classes of two students will consist of four hours of lessons. Terrific Tiny Tennis will consist of six to eight forty minute lessons.

Students provide own rackets.

IMPORTANT: In case of rain, contact the Recreation Dept. at 650.780.7311 within the hour before scheduled starting time for class status or check with the instructor at the court. NO POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE INITIATED BY THE INSTRUCTOR OR BY THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT. TOT SOCCER (3½-4yrs) Tot Soccer is a great way to introduce your child to the exciting sport of soccer. Young children will develop large motor skills while having fun running and kicking just like the big kids! Shin guards are required after the first meeting.

MOMMY / DADDY & ME SOCCER (Age 2-3½ with Kidz Love Soccer A variety of activities designed around the game of soccer will be played each week. As you and your child participate in our fun age appropriate activities, your child will be developing their large motor skills and socialization skills.

PRE-SOCCER (4-5yrs) Children will have fun and learn the basic techniques of the game while building self-esteem and learning to follow instructions in a nurturing teaching environment.

Scheduled Tutoring: TAB (high school) tutors will be available after school on Tuesday, Thursday, and on Saturday where students can get assistance with make-up work, projects, and other assignments as scheduled.

Paddling: Teen Center participants can participate in an outrigger canoe paddling program here in Redwood City! Located and instructed by the BIAC organization. Sessions will be TBA in the Teen Center.

Tournament/Sports Day: Participants will be involved in a variety of pick up sports and tournament games including flag football, basketball, foosball, pool, video games, etc Cooking Day: Teen Center participants will learn to cook and bake a variety of different foods and snacks in the Rec Kitchen. 4:00-5:00pm.

Monthly Dinner: Selected Rec Chefs will be selected to plan and prep dinner for Teen Center participants to enjoy. Dinner date and time is TBA in the Teen Center.

MONTHLY FIELD TRIPS:

Field trips to Teen Center favorite fun spots in the SF bay area. Rockin’ Jump, Movies, Sky High Sports, Alcatraz, Pier 39, etc. Monthly field trips are advertised in the Teen Center.

Do you want to be part of a group that is interested in working with the community to make a difference? Where teen issues are discussed and where activities are planned for teenagers like yourself?

The Teen Advisory Board is an organization that offers teens a chance to speak up on issues that concern you and your peers such as, the new skate park, dances, curfews, and much more. The Teen Advisory has already started to work some up and coming events for the school year. This should be a fun and exciting year so don’t miss out! If you want to be part of an organization where Teens are the Issue and where you can truly make a difference, join us the first Wednesday of every month. Arts and Crafts Sewing

INTRODUCTORY SEWING

with Teresa Garcia Whether you’re a first-time seamstressin-the-making or a frequent dabbler looking to increase your knowledge and refine your sewing skills, this program is the perfect place to start. Introductory Sewing is our most technically focused most comprehensive sewing course. And it’s fun to boot! You’ll learn the basics of sewing plus how to work with a pattern. You’ll build a solid sewing foundation (read: be able to sew anything after this!) and you’ll leave with three projects including a sleep pants, skirt and a lined vest.

And men, we didn’t forget you. We have had many men in our introductory Sewing classes over the years and while some men enjoy making skirts for the women in their lives, others may wish to make something for themselves so we use a pajama pant pattern.

Floods, wildfires, mudslides, earthquake, airline crash, terrorism, disasters come in all forms and severity, are unpredictable and cause disruptions to emergency services.

A large scale disaster can easily overwhelm local emergency response resources, Police Officers, Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services. The CERT program will provide citizens with basic training in disaster survival and rescue skills to help reduce loss and protect property during the most critical timeframe, until emergency responders can arrive.

During the C.E.R.T. course, students will receive training in emergency preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, light search and rescue, disaster psychology, team organization and terrorism. PLAY TENNIS THE STANFORD WAY

Age 15+ Enjoy top-flight instruction from the staff of Stanford Hall of Famer John Whitlinger and Stanford/USPTA Pro Tom Sarsfield. Youth and adult classes of 3-8 students will consist of six to eight hours of instruction. Classes of two students will consist of four hours of lessons.

Students provide own rackets.

IMPORTANT: In case of rain, contact the Recreation Dept. at 780-7311, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm, within the hour before scheduled starting time for class status or check with the instructor at the court. If at any time the instructor is absent, report to the next scheduled lesson for makeup date. NO POSTPONEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT WILL BE INITIATED BY THE INSTRUCTOR OR THE REC. DEPT. Unless notified to the contrary, make up lessons will be forwarded to the next normal meeting day and time. The Adult Basketball leagues are once again in “Fast Break Mode”.

Games are played on Thursday nights at the Red Morton Community Center Arena, on a FULL sized College basketball court. No Middle School-sized courts here. It’s wide open in Redwood City. We will use 2 Quality Basketball Officials and we use a “Shot Clock” during our Spring –Summer Leagues. Where else can you get that level of play? This league will fill up quickly, so be sure to get your paperwork in early. Space is limited.

The form will be kept on file in the Sports Commissioner’s office, and only be used as a guide for Team Managers. If you have been placed on an old Free Agent list in the past, you must complete the new form for 2015. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
