REGISTRATION INFORMATION Pre-registration is required for all classes!

Register early so our instructors can plan and so that we don't cancel due to low enrollment.

If a class is cancelled by the department, a full refund will be issued.

CLASS Cancellations made 1 week prior to the class start date will receive a refund less a $5 cancellation fee PER CLASS. Students who wish to withdraw from a class less than one week prior to the start date will receive a department credit which may be applied to any future recreation department activity, less the $5 cancellation fee, PER CLASS. In general, no refunds or credits will be issued after the class begins.

Students who are dissatisfied with a program for any reason must fill out a refund request form prior to receiving a credit so we can make the class better in the future. Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the program supervisor. Form can be found here: www.redwoodcity.org/refund This policy applies to our fee based recreation programs and not to: Adult sports leagues, building/facility rentals & fees, food concessions, special events, recreational (open) swimming, aerobics and fitness passes, trips and class materials

VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENTS Please note that participants are responsible for ensuring their child’s and/or their environment is safe/free from obstructions and that any use of third-party applications (Zoom, Google Hangouts, Microsoft Teams, etc.) is done at your own risk.

Classes may be cancelled if there is low enrollment.

All registrations are taken on a first come first serve basis.

IN-PERSON ACTIVITIES

Waiting lists will be established if a program is full. If a space becomes available we will contact you. You will not be charged for the class unless you are enrolled.

The City continues to follow State and County guidance in response to COVID-19. Programs are modified and compliant with all health mandates and guidance. Please note that we will continue to update our programs and make further adjustments as things change.

RESIDENT STATUS Any person with a home Redwood City mailing address is considered a resident. A Redwood City P.O. Box or business address will not be taken as proof of residency. A non-resident is someone who lives in another city. But guess what? We no longer charge non-resident fees for classes & camps!

San Mateo County has followed the state in lifting its indoor mask mandate for all individuals regardless of vacciation status, effective March 2.

Research shows that total immersion is the best way for children to develop a long lasting foundation in the Spanish language. 90% of instruction will be in Spanish and 10% in English. The classes are designed to spark and maintain children’s interest in Spanish by engaging them in creative and enjoyable cultural activities such as dancing, singing, literature, art and games. Join Mo Music Teacher Bara for Music Together classes! During class, you will sing, dance, and play instruments to songs. These fun activities are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers to participate in regardless of their own musical ability.

Our nature program emphasizes unstructured, child-led creative play in combination with a nature connection program. Our Nature Mentor will guide your children through experiential based learning opportunities. A typical day might include a nature treasure hunt, creek exploring, nature wandering, climbing hills, fairy garden construction, shelter building, nature based arts and crafts, nature journaling, storytelling and child inspired play. Coach Mike and his staff have been teaching basketball classes for over 20 years. We developed our Little Hoopers program to help teach"the right way" to play basketball to younger players.

AGE 4-12 WITH GROWFIT STAFF. Camp is run by energetic and spirited PE teachers committed to making each camper's experience special and unique.

GrowFit Sports Camps offer a wide variety of activities and physical education to help develop your kiddo’s young athletic spirit. Based on GrowFit’s proprietary curriculum, our camps provide opportunities for thousands of different activities to be explored. Children will feel safe and inspired to try new sports and have tons of fun! A kid-friendly lunch is included from Kicks Grill. Games and activities are meant for children of all ability levels and interests!

Join Ingenium Kids ages 5-12 for highly flexible full and half-day enrichment camp focused on whole child activities including cooking, music, reasoning, movement, theatre, art, science and mindfulness.

Kids will develop skills in the kitchen, get loud with group singing, use their brain practicing logic games, exercise with movement activities, pretend with charades, develop art fun, advance science understanding using experiments and recharge with daily mindfulness choices.

Learning to play the piano is FUN! We believe that piano lessons should be enjoyable and productive, not dull and isolating. By putting students into small groups in the beginning, we give them a chance to share the learning experience with others. This creates a built-in support team of friends and encourages children to practice. Activities include music-oriented games, EZ music theory, and ear-training.

Each student has access to a piano or keyboard in class; however, a piano or keyboard is needed to practice at home. Mindful of gradual reopening, we reduced the size of the group to 3-4 students for in-person classes. Students meet once a week for 35 minutes class.

Enjoy top-flight instruction from the staff of Stanford Hall of Famer John Whitlinger and long-time Stanford/USPTA Pro Tom Sarsfield.

Youth and adult classes of 3-6 players will consist of six 55 minute lessons. Terrific Tiny Tennis classes will consist of four hours of lessons.

Beginning: Your dog is taught to sit, down, stay, come, heel and easy (walking nicely at the end of the leash without pulling).

The dog is taught o move freely and easily with the collar, so one day you barely have to use it! The dog is also taught to perform things and to willingly do or not do things, not just be prevented from doing them. Verbal and/or physical praise from owner is given. This builds a relationship between owner and dog. Any specific problems you are having will be addressed and cured in class or by a lifestyle change at home. You will need a 6 foot comfortable leash. Instructor will supply the nylon collar.

Intermediate: This class will instruct students in off-leash control. This iis done with the addition of a 30 foot long line.

ALL Dogs must have current rabies and distemper vaccinations.

A 6-foot comfortable leash is required. Special nylon choke collar included in fee. Minimum owner age is 11 years old.

FAMILY KAYAKING AGE 10+

Enjoy family time on our very sturdy kayaks. We will see birds and probably a seal as we cruise the wetlands. Depending on the temperature and what people want to do, we may ride waves.

Whether you have a beginner team, or a top level C team, you’ll find a league that will fit your level of play. team, but do not have a team to play on? If so, fill out our “FREE AGENT FORM.” We do not place individuals on specific teams, but will provide a place where teams can go to find additional players for their teams, should they need people.

You will be required to complete the entire form, including what sport you would like to play, age, level of ability, positions you play, and a current photo of you. The form will be kept on file in the Sports Commissioner’s office, and only be used as a guide for Team Managers. If you have been placed on an old Free Agent list in the past, you must complete the new form for 2020. Incomplete forms will not be processed. Another way to find a team is to go to the games directly, and ask the managers. We’ll do our best to find a team for you to play on.

Senior Peer Counseling Program The Senior Peer Counseling program works to ensure no one faces the challenges of aging alone. Specially-trained volunteer counselors provide weekly visits to adults age 55+ to help manage transitions and life changes such as health concerns, mobility issues, caregiver needs, and grief. Special care is taken to connect participants with someone who shares similar life-experiences and perspectives, with programs offered in languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Tagalog, and to participants who identify as LGBTQ. Peer counselors meet with participants via telephone, zoom or when possible in person. Redwood City Park & Picnic Information Nine of Redwood City’s beautiful parks (highlighted in blue) have picnic areas to reserve year-round. Residents can reserve dates any time during the season, Non-Residents can reserve tables up to 6 months in advance only. Park availability & area photos can be accessed online.

Parks with a castle icon allow Bounce Houses as a rental “add-on.”Reservation requests may be made online at redwoodcity.org/picnics or contact 780-7327 or picnics@redwoodcity.org.
