Redwood City - Senior Services A publication displaying our senior programs and services.

Meet the NEW Senior Services Manager: Alana Behn Hello and Happy Fall! If we haven’t met yet, allow me to introduce myself properly! My name is Alana Behn, and I am incredibly excited and honored to serve as your new Recreation Manager for Senior Services. While I may be new to this role, I am certainly not new to Parks and Recreation. I have spent the past 15 years working in Parks and Recreation, and I have always believed that recreation is about much more than programs and activities. It is about creating places where people feel connected, welcomed, supported, and where fun thrives. As I step into this role, my goal is simple: I want you to feel safe, supported, heard, and connected through Senior Services, and of course, have some fun along the way. Whether you're joining us for a program, meeting friends for lunch, trying something new, or simply looking for a place to connect, I want Senior Services to offer you opportunities to feel welcome, valued, and to have fun. Over the coming months, we will continue working to make the new Veterans Memorial Building / Senior Center an even more welcoming, active, and connected place. Tell me what you love, what you would like to see more of, what isn't working, and even what you think we should try next. Your ideas, experiences, and feedback are an important part of shaping the future of our Senior Services. I want to hear from you! There will naturally be some growing pains as we settle into this new chapter, but you can count on our staff to listen, communicate, and work through challenges together. If you see me walking around, please stop and say hello. I don't bite, unless you are something Chef Gavin whipped up. I would love to meet you and learn what makes this community special to you. Most importantly, I want you to know that you belong here. Whether you come for lunch, attend a class, volunteer, or simply want a place to spend part of your day, we are happy to have you. This is a new chapter for Senior Services, and I am excited for what we can accomplish together. We are going to listen, learn, build relationships, have some fun, and make improvements, one step at a time. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve this community, and I can't wait to see what we create together!

Alana Behn
