Senior Peer Counseling Program

The Senior Peer Counseling program works to ensure no one faces the challenges of aging alone. Specially-trained volunteer counselors provide weekly visits to adults age 55+ to help manage transitions and life changes such as health concerns, mobility issues, caregiver needs, and grief. Special care is taken to connect participants with someone who shares similar life-experiences and perspectives, with programs offered in languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Tagalog, and to participants who identify as LGBTQ. Peer counselors meet with participants via telephone, zoom or when possible in person. For more information contact Ann Blick-Hamer at 650-403-4300, x 4322 or email ablickhamer@peninsulafamilyservice.org

Get App-y!

If you are 55 or older and enjoy using apps, we have a great opportunity for you! In 2021 Peninsula Family Service recruited a group of participants to try the Wysa app and provide feedback. It is natural to feel anxious during these difficult times and Wysa is an App that can support emotional health, relieve stress and anxiety through a variety of calming activities. Wysa has helped over two and a half million people and we want to know if you think older adults in San Mateo County will find it helpful too. Participants will receive gift cards. Tell a friend and sign-up together! For more information or to sign-up to test Wysa, email Arlene Aquino aaquino@peninsulafamilyservice.org or call 650-403-4300 ext. 4327.
