AGE 3-5 Must be of age when entering the program

This program is designed for children to develop social, cognitive, and physical skills in a stimulating and warm environment. Teachers implement a childcentered philosophy to create a curriculum responsive to all the children in the group. Children will be introduced to a variety of Pre-K concepts including language, math, art, science, music and movement. By creating an environment that balances teacher directed and unstructured activities, children will develop independence, confidence and a positive sense of the world around them.

LUNCH BUDDIES

Add an additional hour to your child’s class. Please send a lunch to school with your child. After lunch, activities will be available.

SPANISH IMMERSION LIL’ LEARNERS PRESCHOOL

AGE 3-5 Must be of age when entering the program Research shows that total immersion is the best way for children to develop a long lasting foundation in the Spanish language. 90% of instruction will be in Spanish and 10% in English. The classes are designed to spark and maintain children’s interest in Spanish by engaging them in creative and enjoyable cultural activities such as dancing, singing, literature, art and games. Through immersion, children will learn the Spanish language naturally and easily as they master basic pre-school skills.

MUSIC

MINI-GROUP PIANO CLASSES

AGE 6-9

WITH SVETLANA TUCHINSKY, B.M., MA Education & 15+ years experience.

Learning to play the piano is FUN! We believe that piano lessons should be enjoyable and productive, not dull and isolating. By putting students into small groups in the beginning, we give them a chance to share the learning experience with others. This creates a built-in support team of friends and encourages children to practice. Activities include music-oriented games, EZ music theory, and ear-training. Classes are progressive: Piano 1, the beginner's class is followed by Piano 2, etc. Each student has access to a piano or keyboard in class; however, a piano or keyboard is needed to practice at home. Mindful of gradual reopening, we reduced the size of the group to 3-4 students for in-person classes. Students meet once a week for 35 minutes class. Lab Fee: $25 payable to instructor at 1st class. Location: CAB no class 11/21

Senior Peer Counseling Program

The Senior Peer Counseling program works to ensure no one faces the challenges of aging alone. Specially-trained volunteer counselors provide weekly visits to adults age 55+ to help manage transitions and life changes such as health concerns, mobility issues, caregiver needs, and grief. Special care is taken to connect participants with someone who shares similar life-experiences and perspectives, with programs offered in languages such as English, Mandarin, Spanish, and Tagalog, and to participants who identify as LGBTQ. Peer counselors meet with participants via telephone, zoom or when possible in person. For more information contact Ann Blick-Hamer at 650-403-4300, x 4322 or email ablickhamer@peninsulafamilyservice.org

Get App-y!

If you are 55 or older and enjoy using apps, we have a great opportunity for you! In 2021 Peninsula Family Service recruited a group of participants to try the Wysa app and provide feedback. It is natural to feel anxious during these difficult times and Wysa is an App that can support emotional health, relieve stress and anxiety through a variety of calming activities. Wysa has helped over two and a half million people and we want to know if you think older adults in San Mateo County will find it helpful too. Participants will receive gift cards. Tell a friend and sign-up together! For more information or to sign-up to test Wysa, email Arlene Aquino aaquino@peninsulafamilyservice.org or call 650-403-4300 ext. 4327.
