The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and all that is seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten not made, one in being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died, and was buried. On the third day he rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Psalm 148

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise him in the heights above.

Praise him, all his angels;

Praise him, all his heavenly hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;

Praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens And you waters above the skies. Let them praise the name of the LORD. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Morning Offering

O Jesus, Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, Joys and sufferings of this day for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father. Amen.

Short Morning Prayer

Lord, help me to remember that nothing is going to happen to me today that You and I together can't handle. Amen.

Morning Hymn of Saint Ephrem

Light has dawned upon the just and joy to the upright of heart (repeat)

• Jesus Christ our sovereign Lord, dawning from the Father’s womb came and brought us out of darkness brightening us with his radiant light!

• Day has dawned upon mankind, and the power of darkness fled; brightness dawning from his radiant light has darkened our darkened eyes.

• His glory he dawned on earth brightening the lowest depths; death was darkened, darkness banished, and the gates of Sheol were destroyed.

• He enlightened all his works, which had been in dark before, and the dead who had been buried, rose and praise, for they had been saved.

• He, the savior, gave us life, to the Father’s womb returned; he will come again in glory, brightening those who bide his return.

• Our king will come again! Let us light our lamps and go, ready to rejoice in him, as he rejoiced, and so we!

• Let us lift up praise to him, to the Father giving thanks, who in mercy sent him to us, our salvation and all our hope.

• Without warning his day dawns, and his saints are all awake, and all those who labored, wearied, and prepared are lighting their lamps.

• All the watchers in the heights laud the glory of the just, placing crowns upon their heads, and all are singing Halleluiah!

• Brethren, rise up and prepare, give thanks to our savior king, who in glory will return and gladden us with his radiant light!
