Heritage walk

The Heritage walk starts from the entry plaza near metro station, then towards the landscaped corridor of the museum returning towards one of the important monuments of this place, i.e. The Kashmere Gate and then the visitor can take a turn towards the Lothian Road, whereat the left side of the road one can find the Ritz Cinema which is one of the oldest screen-theatres of the capital and it is just opposite to the walled monument, i.e the Kashmere Gate

As we move forward, one can find the famous St. James Church towards their left, which is also one of the oldest churches of Delhi, and after being renovated, it stands as a beautiful landmark of this area.

Old Hindu College is another heritage spot (towards our left), which depicts the history of Kashmere Gate. It was established just in front of the old St. Stephen’s college which is our next spot, whilst taking a turn towards the right, leading to the Ramlal Marg, where we can find the Lal Masjid, when we take a further turn towards the right Lal Masjid, also known as Fakr-ul Masjid is located in the Bara Bazar

As we return, we can find numerous havelis in the Chota Bazar area, that are one of the most important spots of this heritage walk like the Seth Ramlal Haveli. To enhance the experience of the visitors in the market and highlight their importance in this place we have incorporated pergolas with jali pattern and downward lighting These jalis, made of sandstone not only lighten up the dark streets, but also enhances the aesthetics of the buildings, which have intricate designs on their facade, increasing their heritage values Then, after taking a turn towards Nicholson road the walk joins the Lothian road again where one can visit the Telegraph Memorial and one of the oldest Christian cemetaries of Delhi i.e. the Lothian Cemetary, from where we take a turn towards our last spot, the Dara Shikoh library, which had a great historical importance as well Once part of estate of Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of Shahjahan, and in the early 19th century, it became the Residency of British Residents then it housed the Delhi College of Engineering Here we terminate our walk.
