Housing Groeseind, Tilburg

fresh simplicity with sophistication

Within the urban plan of the GHP site of De Zwarte Hond, Atelier PRO was responsible for the design of two city streets: the infill on the St. Andreasstraat with 12 homes and the infill on the Bisschop van Zoesstraat with 31 homes. In both cases it was a mix of rental and owner-occupied housing.

The idiosyncratic window placement (the bathroom window feels at home with the neighbors) produces a slight confusion about the position of the house dividing wall. The ventilation hatch on the first floor allows for burglar-proof ventilation.

Begane grond The two-story rental houses do not have an attic but do have a bedroom floor with a sloped ceiling. The bathroom is located on the facade.

Begane grond The rental homes in Bishop van Zoesstraat are somewhat less lavish than the homes in Sint Andreasstraat. In some cases, the kitchen is implemented as a separate room. The white niches on the first floor near the kitchen facade (which occur separately and mirrored) bring cheerfulness to the image together with the solid red brick.
