At the top of the Ounasvaara Mountain resides a mysterious power. Some nights, the sky lights up with the magical glow of a display meant only for the trees, the rocks, the soil and the snow, and the forest comes alive as the Northern Spirits dance in the sky. It is said that during such nights a stone ship sails the mountain’s slopes. Its wooden captain stands atop, firm and stoic, eyes fixed on the lights that mesmerise him so. Every room and every corner offers a view of the lights as to not waste a drop of its magic on blind walls. It is said that to step foot inside the ship is to let go of one’s human form and join the spirits (albeit temporarily) in their covenant with nature. If you ever get a chance to hop aboard, be sure to listen to the ancient tales whispered by the trees and know your luck to be a mortal man witnessing first hand the world’s greatest spectacle in the theatre of the gods.
