Roland F. Draxler March 22, 1964 ~ Oct. 9, 2016

Roland F. Draxler, 52, passed away Oct. 9, 2016 in Cañon City.

Roland was born in Downey, California to Rudolf and Katharina (Weinmueller) Draxler.

He enjoyed fishing, loved animals, and the outdoors. He lived Roland F. his life to the Draxler fullest and was very gentle to both people, and animals.

Roland is survived by the love

of his life, Dessa Manary, whom he planned to marry in April of 2017; daughter Nikki Wall; parents Rudolf and Katharina; sister Gertraud (Dale) Falske; two grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Memorial service 4 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

Archie Robert MacGregor, Jr.

Archie Robert MacGregor, Jr. passed away Oct. 7, 2016. He was born to Archie and Pauline (Cholak) MacGregor on April 30, 1936, in Isle, CO. Archie was married to Jeanette Wilson on Sept. 11, 1956.

He is survived by his wife Jeanette; as well as daughters Kathleen (Kim) Nelson of Cañon City and Rebecca MacGregor of Los Lunas, NM; Grandchildren Scott (Kateri) Nelson, Marcia Clemmons; as well as five great-

grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen Danley and Marjorie Merlino.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice or the Fremont County Boys and Girls Club.

Robert Douglas McArthur Robert “Bob / Mac” Douglas McArthur, 78, passed away peacefully in his home in Cañon City on Oct. 2, 2016. He was born on January 8, 1938, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Josephine Grace and Edgar McArthur.

Bob graduated from Palmer High School in Colorado Springs in 1955. That same year, his baseball team took second place in the American Robert Douglas McArthur Legion Junior Baseball Tournament. He attended college on a baseball scholarship before he was hired at Mountain Bell, from which he eventually retired. Bob worked for 15 years as a lineman and 15 years as a foreman. He and his crew brought the first phone service to much of rural Colorado. While working on a storm break, Bob met Carol Ann Kalbach, his beautiful wife of 52 years.

Bob served as a deacon for the Presbyterian Church for 5 years. He volunteered for the Morning Lions Club for over 10 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, an avid shooter,

and enjoyed hand loading his ammunition.

Bob loved going to various local and state sporting events with his grandchildren and to watch his great grandchildren play.

Along with Carol, he loved to camp, travel on long road trips, and take cruises through out the Caribbean. When he wasn’t sharing his stories about his work and life (with a big grin on his face), Bob loved to show off his 1970 GTO that he purchased in 1971.

Bob was a wonderful man who will be missed deeply by his family and friends, daughter Melody Grondahl, aunt Margret Guy, sister in law Donna Hansen, sister in law Anita “Jeannie” (George) Jackson, brother in law Edward “Sonny” (Lenora) Kalbach, brother in law Dave (Connie) Kalbach, grand daughters Anita (Chad) Dewitt, Bobbi (Dave) Gilbert, Rachel Smith, Andrea Smith, great grand children Alexandria, Samantha, Gabriel and Elizabeth Dewitt and Audrey, Emilie, and Quentin Gilbert, along with numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A memorial service for Robert Douglas McArthur will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, at the Church of Christ, 1718 Franklin Avenue, Cañon City. A lunch in his honor will follow.

The gallery now has room for a 2-dimensional artist working in pastels, oils, watercolors or other media. The gallery currently does not have space for a photog-

rapher. There is also an opening for two 3D artists, working in clay, wood, fiber or other media.

Jury for the gallery is at 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

Representative work needs to be at the gallery one day prior to the jury meeting, labeled with artist information, and priced. The positions will remain open until filled, and the next jury date will be in November.

New CCPD camera register program aims to fight local crime A new program through the Cañon City Police Department is aimed to help the department solve more crimes, faster.

The Security Camera System Registration program, gives local businesses and homeowners the opportunity to register their own security cameras to help fight crime in the area.

“With camera technology becoming more ‘budget friendly’ for business and homeowners to protect their properties, the Cañon City Police Department recognizes the benefits of having a completely voluntary camera registration program,” a news release from the CCPD said.

According to the news release, partnerships with more than 20 businesses and the RE-1 School District have already been established.

Through the program, the CCPD will have quick access to potential evidence with the registered cameras.

“The homeowner views their device and provides potential evidence for prosecution of criminals,” the news release said. It also stated the program will not give CCPD direct access or live feeds to these systems.

The new program is confidential and voluntary.

“Rights and Responsibilities” John 1:11-12 says, “He came to His own and those who were His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” Jesus was born into this world to humble Jewish parents. The Son of God grew up as a carpenter. The Jews were God’s chosen people and Jesus went first to His own people with the message of salvation. But He was rejected (for the most part) by His own people and crucified like a common criminal.

The good news is that to those who received Him, “He gave the right to become children of God.” Those who “received Him” were those who “believe in His name.” From this we see that to “receive Him” gives one the “right” to become a child of God by believing in His name. To believe in His name implies that one believes Jesus is the Son of God, the Christ - the promised Messiah. To believe in His name is not just to admit that He existed or was a good man or a great teacher and prophet: it means to embrace all His teachings; to be willing to obey His commands and follow Him - regardless of whatever the cost or consequences may be. Many who initially followed Him would turn back when He said things like, “Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). The right to become a child of God brings the responsibility of faithful obedience!
