YMCA: Your family vacation spot

If you are looking for a place to stay and play, search no fur ther than the YMCA of the Rockies. YMCA of the Rockies, located near Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, is an ideal vacation, reunion, wedding and conference destination.

There is plenty to at the YMCA, with miles of trails from their proper ty, as well as plenty to do on their campus. The YMCA consists of about 860 acres of proper ty, and recently they realized they had some pristine areas that might be appropriate to be placed into a conser vation easement to be preser ved in perpetuity, according to the Estes Park Center Director Dave DeLuca. They decided to work with the Estes Valley Land Trust to preser ve about 120 acres of proper ty that runs along the river corridors, Glacier Creek and Wind River. Now this beautiful landscape will be preser ved for generations to come and for all to enjoy.

Stay in one of their lodging options then head on over to the Boone Family Mountain Center. This 10,125-square-foot facility will provide a base camp for nature, environmental and high-adventure activities. In addition to housing a hands-on education nature center and two-stor y climbing wall, the Mountain Center will also ser ve as the staging and information area for fishing, mountain biking, archer y, low-and-high ropes courses and the zip line.

Have a furr y friend that you want to bring along? According to DeLuca, that is quite frequent, and so much so that opening this summer is a brand new fenced in YMCA dog park for their four-legged guests. With dif ferent obstacles and plenty of room to run, and a water station to stay hydrated, your dog will have just as much fun as you in the Rockies.

“The range of programs and activities that we of fer is extensive and we have options for all ages,” DeLuca said. “I think we have a great histor y and heritage and we have families come back ever y year as this has become their vacation spot, and we want to be that for more families.”
