Local restaurants talk about what they’re doing to make it safe for diners to enjoy a meal out of the house.

Summer plans may have been impacted, but there is still fun to be had, even if it takes a slightly different form and businesses are bouncing back.

We’re all adjusting in our own way and carrying on with our lives, but food is a constant presence, so why not make the most of it?

As you walk in the single entrr y point, you smell freshly breweed coffee, newly-baked bread and see the vibrant hues of spring radishes, asparagus stallks and greenhouse cherry tomatoes.

People walk by, their bags stuffed with mixed mushrooms and sugar snap peas, jars of honey and garlic scapes. People still joke with their favorite vendors in passing, buy some fresh salsa and tortillas. In another month it will be summer squash, corn and peaches.

This year might look a little different at the Longmont, Boulder and Denver farmers markets, with mandatory masks and social distancing, but you can expect the same high quality and fresh experience you’ve come to know and love for the past 33 years.

“We’ve made a lot of changes this year to be compliant with local official guidelines surrounding COVID,” said Elyse Wood, Operations Manager for Boulder County Farmers Markets, which operate in Longmont, Boulder, Denver and Lafayette.

“We definitely hit the ground running. The first day we completed 800 orders,” Wood said. They started by selling predetermined boxes, but now the boxes are fully customizable and customers choose exactly what they want on the website. Wood said that they added more pickup locations at the end of June in Boulder, Lafayette and Denver. Even though the physical farmers markets have started up again, Wood said they will run the BCFM2Go service through the end of the year to be sure they are ready if there is a COVID-19 resurgence.

Vendors are spaced six feet apart, one-way flows of traffic have been established with one entry and one exit point, and customers are asked to reserve times in an online reservation system.

In Boulder and Longmont, organizers are able to fit 150 people in the market at a time. Reservations are recommended, although they have been able to admit walk-ups in every market too so far.

Wood said they are starting out with fewer vendors at the market now, but expect more by the peak season in August.

“An auxiliary benefit is that the market is open and spacious, and not crowded shoulder-to-shoulder,”

The farmers market has been in operation for 34 years and started with a group of five farmers in front of the courthouse on Pearl Street in Boulder. The board is made up of farmers.

There are plenty of reasons to go to the farmers markets, Wood said.

Open air farmers markets are much safer than indoor markets.

The air is moving, the supply chain is shorter (farm to table) and there is more space than a grocery store.

Choosing the HOME

for You

Summer is here and you’ve probably been itching to fire up the grill and get down to some summer cooking.

Grilling can be seen as recreation, art, sport, and leisure all at once. And the food is pretty good as well.

That said, there are many different methods of backyard grilling to choose from. The question isn’t which one is the best, but which is best for you? Should you go charcoal or gas? What’s this you’ve been hearing about pellets? Am I ready for a smoker?

We’ve broken down the most popular choices for backyard grilling and discuss the pros and cons of each. The good news is that you may have more options than you were aware of.

Charcoal Grills

This is the classic grill. They’re reasonably portable, simple to use, and 12 LONGMONT MAGAZINE

representative of that iconic smoky backyard flavor. Many consider the charcoal grill as the only acceptable form of backyard grilling.

Compared to other grilling methods, a charcoal grill does take longer to heat up than gas or electric, but coals will also burn hotter. Because no temperature controls exist beyond possibly shifting the grill surface higher or lower, cooking with charcoal requires distributing the coals along the bottom of the grill to create ideal direct and indirect cooking zones.

The only other real drawback with charcoal grilling is that cleanup can take longer and be more of a mess than other forms of backyard cooking. Charcoal ash should be cleaned out after each use. That said, many people feel the extra effort is worth it for that classic charcoal grill taste.

Gas Grills It’s easy to see the appeal of gas grills. They start easily, heat quickly, are pretty easy to use and require a lot less clean up. While you don’t get the same smoky flavor you might with charcoal, you have more options for food types that you can quickly cook on a gas grill. Most gas grills use propane tanks for fuel, which can be replaced relatively easily, so there are no messy bags of charcoal.

On average, gas grills have more cooking area allowing you to serve many guests at once. Many gas grills have side burners for heating side dishes, soups, and sauces. A gas grill can be the most expensive option, but, if taken care of, it can last for years.

Portable Grills What if you want to grill on the go?

This is where portable grills come in. Designed to be both sturdy and convenient, you can set up a portable grill almost anyplace you wish. You can purchase small, inexpensive charcoal grills, or you could cook with gas using small 16-ounce propane tanks designed to be stored under the grill lid when not in use.

Not everyone has the space for a fullsized grill. And not everyone wants to deal with the hassle of cleaning up after a charcoal grill or managing propane tanks. This is where outdoor electric grills come into play.

Whether you’re nervous about the meat shortage or just want to get back on track after a bout of stress eating, fruit and veggies are your friend, always. They’ll give you energy and make you feel better.

And they’re perfect for the grill.

We’ve got a few plant-based recipes designed to be entrees, letting veggies become the star of your cookout.

We chatted with executive chef Andrew Henshaw of Laser Wolf, the newest restaurant from James Beard Award winners Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook, where a charcoal grill is responsible for cooking up more than 75% of the menu.

He shares his best general advice for cooking grilled veggies to perfection — plus a simple idea for dessert.

How To Grill Veggies Better For starters, treat veggies as if you were grilling a piece of meat, says Henshaw.

“I’m not a vegetarian or anything, but the more that we think about vegetables as entrees, the better we’ll all be — they’re better for your health, the environment, your wallet,” he says. “When you stop treating them 16 LONGMONT MAGAZINE

as just an afterthought, they become incredibly delicious.”

Zucchini, corn, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms top Henshaw’s list of favorites to grill. Seasoning is crucial.

Just as you wouldn’t throw chicken on the grate without a marinade, zucchini needs more attention than a quick drizzle of oil. Ideally, you’d start the seasoning process the night before.

“Four to six hours is the minimum for marinating — you really want the marinade to penetrate the vegetable,” says Henshaw. “If you just rub it on the outside right before, it’ll fall off and can create flare-ups, so then the food will not only be flavorless but it’ll get singed.”

ture content, like eggplant, mushrooms, and zucchini, apply salt first to eliminate excess water. Sprinkle Kosher salt on top of cut veggies, and let them hang out in a strainer for a few hours before marinating. (For eggplant, salting overnight is ideal.)

This will enhance the caramelization process when they finally hit the grill.

Henshaw’s go-to marinade recipe is simple, and encourages you to play the pandemic substitution game where you utilize the ingredients you have on hand. In a blender, process one onion (roughly chopped), a few cloves of garlic, and either a half of a bunch of herbs (cilantro/chives/ parsley) or a tablespoon of your favorite spice (like cumin or coriander). You can also combine herbs and spices. Add salt and as it’s blending, July/August 2020

slowly start to stream in one cup of vegetable oil.

“Play around with whatever you have lying around in your fridge — but don’t forget the lemon,” says Henshaw. “After you’re done marinating and you move to the cooking, you’ll want to add a squeeze of lemon just before everything comes off the grill.”

To gear up your grill station, Henshaw recommends getting a long pair of tongs, metal skewers, and a grill basket.

“It’s easy for vegetables to fall through the grates when flipping, so a vegetable basket will make your life a lot easier,” says Henshaw. “You can just shake it and toss

everything at once.”

Don’t be afraid to get creative. One of Henshaw’s secret weapons is flash-grilled cilantro stems (30 seconds, grilled as is), which he mixes into soups, stocks, and salsas.

And for dessert, grilled fruit is as easy as it gets.

“Pineapple is awesome — just cut it into one-inch thick slices, and grill five minutes per side on medium to low heat,” says Henshaw.

Eat it straight off the grill or serve it with ice cream.

Henshaw also recommends skewered strawberries and peaches. Brush the fruit with honey, and grill the skewers for one to two minutes on each side over high heat.

CHEAT SHEET 1. Treat vegetables with the same care you treat meat.

Seasoning is crucial. If you prepare them properly, they can make a satisfying main.

GRILL THOSE VEGGIES Shiitake Mushroom Skewers (Serves 4)

These hearty skewers were among the first entrees on Laser Wolf’s opening menu. If time allows, let the mushrooms marinate overnight, and serve them with a side of glazed onions (recipe below).

“Salty, savory mushrooms with sweet and sour onion hits all the flavor centers,” says Henshaw.

2 pounds shiitake mushrooms 2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons kosher salt, divided 1 yellow onion, diced 4 cloves garlic ½ bunch parsley, roughly chopped (or whatever herb you have in the house; can also swap for 2 tablespoons of dried parsley) 1 teaspoon black pepper 1 teaspoon white pepper (if not available, double up on black pepper) 1 teaspoon coriander 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1 cup vegetable oil Remove stems from the mushrooms, and toss the caps with 2 tablespoons of salt. Place in a strainer and allow some of their liquid to drain while you prepare the marinade.

Peel garlic and smash with the broad side of a knife. Add onion, garlic, herbs, pepper, coriander, and 1 teaspoon salt to a food processor or blender. Begin pureeing on low speed. Once everything is liquefied, turn to high speed and slowly stream in the oil.

Glazed Onions

8 ounces pearl onions ½ cup red wine vinegar 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 1 teaspoon salt ¼ cup pomegranate molasses (if needed, substitute honey, any fruit molasses, or even a 1:1 water-to-sugar simple syrup)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Toss the onions in the vinegar, salt, and vegetable oil. Place in an 8-x8-inch dish.

Bake for 20 minutes. Onions can be cooled and stored in the refrigerator for up to five days, covered tightly. When ready to grill, toss them with the molasses and grill (preferably in a grill basket, or carefully directly on grates) for four to five minutes, tossing to cook evenly all around.

Transfer to a container. Marinade may be covered and stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.

Starting with about ½ cup, toss the mushrooms in the marinade, adding more if needed until mushrooms are evenly coated. Let marinate overnight or for at least six hours.

Thread mushrooms onto skewers and grill over medium-high heat for about four minutes per side. When mushrooms are softened all the way through and charred on the outside, remove from the grill.

Serve immediately, aside glazed onions (see right).

Grandpa’s Café is all about making fresh and excellent food their customers love. Since owner Carrie Mercer took over in 2009, she has made it a point to preserve the menu and add her own touch to it, especially by adding seasonal items and themes. So, if you want variety and excellence, in a family friendly environment, Grandpa’s Café is for you.

What are your current hours of operation?

7 a.m. – 8 p.m., 7 days a week

What is special about your menu?

We do seasonal menu items, we will offer our summer menu soon. Our daily lunch specials are very popular.

Although we are known for our original Grandpa Burger, we are so much more. The 6-inch burger is made with 100% natural Aspen Ridge beef and is fresh, never frozen and locally farmed. We now have a variety of menu options that bring people back. All of our food is made fresh daily.

Do you have vegetarian/vegan menu options?

We definitely have some things for vegetarians but no specific vegan items. We have a build-your-own omelet and a great veggie burrito.

Kid-friendly options?

We have a kid’s menu, including breakfast with regular or chocolate chip pancakes and more! Lunch and dinner options are a cheeseburger, corn dog, grilled cheese or chicken tender basket. We also have a treasure chest of toys to dip into after the meal. Right now we have bracelets and squirt guns.

How are you serving customers and still complying with restrictions at this time?

Our dining room is open now. We have barriers between tables and have limited dining room seating. We knocked out a fence on the patio, so we have more outside seating also.

Are you still offering takeout or delivery for those who feel more comfortable with that option?

If so, are you offering your full menu or a few select options?

We are not doing delivery anymore as our dining room business is so busy, but we are continuing to do take-out and curb-side service. We have two parking spots and customers call the number on the sign and order over the phone and we’ll bring it out to them.

What are your plans for the future as things begin to return to normal?

We are following guidelines now, but as restrictions lift, we plan to go back to accommodating large parties. We are looking forward to bringing barriers down and getting back to normal.

One word: Fresh.

We make our dough fresh. A lot of places use frozen dough, but we make our dough all day long. We grate our own cheese. I grow fresh basil and we use it at the restaurant…

We also make all of our sauces here.

After 16 years, Nicolo’s Pizza in Longmont has pizza and calzones down to an art. They make their dough from scratch throughout the day, every day. As a small, familyrun business Nicolo’s can assure all their food is excellent quality and tastes great.

Owners Kent Blythe and his wife, Jeanne, have mastered Italian cuisine but also offer a variety of salads, sandwiches, and so much more.

Nicolo’s is a local neighborhood fixture so they have plenty of loyal regulars.

What are your current hours of operation?

11 a.m.-9 p.m., 7 days a week, but call ahead as we may close if business has been slow.

We have pizzas, calzones, appetizers… and I bake all our desserts. I make cheesecake, tiramisu, cobblers, brownies and cookies, and we do have some of my son’s Collision Brewery beers on tap.

[We offer] kid’s ravioli, pizza, and pastas.

How are you serving customers and still complying with restrictions at this time?

We measured off the 6-foot [distance] and so we only have eight out of 20 tables. We took the opportunity to remodel while the dining room was shut. The staff wears masks and gloves and we sanitize everything…we laminated our menus and sanitize them between customers.

Are you still offering takeout or delivery for those who feel more comfortable with that option?

Yes, we will always offer take-out and delivery but we stop taking orders at 8:30 p.m.

Our pizzas and calzones are the most popular items, definitely. Our salads are popular and our garlic cheese bread. We sell a lot of spaghetti, too.

What are your plans for the future as things begin to return to normal?

We plan to put in plexiglass between booths in the dining room to accommodate more customers.

We do. We have vegan options and vegetarian dishes. One popular one is our eggplant parmesan dish. Our vegan dishes are made with Follow Your Heart vegan cheese. Then we have gluten-free crust and pasta.

What are your current hours of operation?

We stick to authentic Japanese food only.

Authentic and clean, neat and fresh is our focus. How we cut and process our fish is unique and our ramen stock is aged we cut it, sort it, wash it and age it and this makes it authentically Japanese.

We get our food from locations all over the world including Canada, Scandanavia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Asia…sushi is very international.

Select from our extensive menu or have our expert sushi chefs create your special request. Sashimi and nigiri teriyaki and yakisoba are prepared fresh daily in our kitchen. Our natural sushi/sashimi menu is made with ingredients free from MSG and other preservatives that are used in traditional sushi making. Even the water used for making green tea is filtered to remove impurities.

All our sushi is popular but our favorite dishes are Sushi for two, fried calamari Japanese style, ramen noodles, teriyaki, and many others.

Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 9:30 p.m. for dinner; Sunday, dinner only, 5-9 p.m.

Most of our menu is sushi and noodles and we have gluten free sauces: soy sauce, eel sauce, ponzu sauce, teriyaki sauce, ceviche sauce, poke sauce and ginger salad dressing.

We have a couple, but no specific kid’s menu. Kids love our Udon (noodles) and rice.

Our dining room is open now. We sanitize our entire restaurant and menus and follow all guidelines while serving our customers.

What is special about your menu?

Our menu combines Southwest/Spanishstyle food with more traditional American options, giving everyone the opportunity to choose what they are in the mood to eat at the moment.

Café Santa Fe was originally

intended to be a simple burrito and coffee shop but we realized that it would be wonderful as a full-service restaurant as there was a lot of open space. The cuisine is inspired by New Mexico’s Southwestern and Spanish-style cuisine, but there is a full American menu also.

Our family comes from New Mexico and has been there for over 300 years, and we were raised with this style of cooking. We decided we wanted to share this food with the community, and give them the choice of Southwest/Spanish food or American to the people that come in and dine at Café Santa Fe.

What are your current hours of operation?

Our primary inspiration comes from the unique cuisine of Santa Fe, New Mexico and our family’s roots there.

On the American menu, our breakfast and burgers are very popular choices, and on the Southwest/Spanish side, customers love our burritos, chile rellenos, and enchiladas.

Yes, we offer vegetarian items like Boulder omelets, veggie scrambles and veggie burritos.

Yes, we are a very family friendly restaurant and have a great kids menu.

We follow all the CDC guidelines and are socially distancing, using extra sanitization measures and we wear masks.

We offer our full menu for take-out and pick up. For those who would like curb-side service, we are set up to bring to-go items to their car also.

We are thinking of extending our hours to include evening service, offering a new Southwest/Spanish and American dinner menu. We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines and will change with any new regulations.

“It was devastating for so many businesses. Most will plan for a crisis.

Maybe they have to close for a week because of weather or repairs. Very few plan for a pandemic that lasts a month, never mind many months.

Some small businesses just haven’t been able to make it,” says Scott Cook, CEO of the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce.

Since March, Longmont businesses and business groups have worked to cope with closure and scared employees and customers as well as reopening restrictions that seemed to change every day. Some have had to radically

alter their business models on the fly.

“Now things are slowly stabilizing.

Fortunately, many businesses have gotten stimulus loans or they wouldn’t have been able to survive,” Scott Cook says.

“Our small retailers are stepping up their online presence, and not just for online ordering and delivery. Having your inventory online allows shoppers to pre-shop before they get to the store so they save time,” he says.

Zooming into the business future The Longmont Chamber sprang into action as soon as the severity of the pandemic’s impact was clear. Early on the Chamber’s Longmont is Open videos and Business Spirit Week helped encourage shoppers to support local businesses. The Chamber has been hosting virtual town halls for businesses and sharing update information.

These measures did not stop the flu — by Oct. 14, there were 50 cases in Longmont, and the number grew by 25 a day for several days before the health inspector apparently became too busy to give daily case reports. Although large gatherings were prohibited, businesses remained open in 1918. The health department reported: “This department has been informed by merchants that persons have entered their places of business to trade, and boldly made the remark that they had the flu, but they were not sick enough to go to bed. If such a thing occurs again in any business place, call the city marshal and he will take care of the case.”

Even if You Plan for a Pandemic Wyatt’s Wet Goods in Longmont may be one of the few businesses in the area that actually expected a pandemic.

“We had already made a pandemic kit ahead of time so we had gloves, masks, sanitizer and other items ready to go. We figured that eventually something would come around – some sort of flu or something – and we would have to deal with it,” says Dennis Dinsmore, managing partner of Wyatt’s Wet Goods.

It wasn’t easy even with the planning.

“The first question was: ‘How do we keep everyone – staff and customers – safe? Then it was: ‘How do we stay in business?’ Dinsmore says. The store coped with scared staff and found it was hard to hire new staff.

It installed plexiglass and distancing markers, and purchased vehicles because of the uptick in deliveries.

Costs are up because pickup and delivery are more labor intensive.

Dinsmore suggests that it will be awhile before the so-called “new normal” arrives. “I’m frightened about the virus but many other people are frightened out of their socks! Half of my customers arrive, never roll down a window and have masks and gloves on in their car when we put the order in the trunk,” he says.

Dinsmore credits the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce with helping business owners cope. “The Chamber right away was sending out e-mails sharing ideas, coaching and offering some survival skills. The biggest thing was that the Chamber keeps us current on the ever-changing rules. Sometimes the restrictions were changing every day,” Dinsmore says.

‘Little Shops’ concept opens up Niwot retailing “Like every town in the area, businesses in Niwot have been hugely impacted by the pandemic. We’ve seen a couple of retailers close,” says Catherine McHale, Economic Development Director for the Niwot Business Association.

The Association launched the Keep Niwot Strong program to encourage residents to spend in town. “If we want our downtown to survive and be there later, we need to shop locally and support businesses,” McHale says.

“I’ve been encouraged that many restaurants and retailers are communicating well with their customers and have maintained their loyal followings,” McHale says. The Niwot Business Association has working with Boulder County on relaxing rules about outdoor dining and retail sales as well as finding administrative grants for businesses in unincorporated Boulder County.

In January, the Association launched The Little Shops at Niwot. “We knew that getting into retail was tough

and expensive. The Little Shops at Niwot is a new program to give small, independent businesses a brick-and-mortar location,” she says.

This new business incubator will contain 18 retail spots in a retail space in Cottonwood Square that formerly housed a fitness gym.

All will share marketing, cashier, cleaning and mentorship through the Niwot Business Association.

Because of the pandemic, The Little Shops at Niwot has necessarily been on the backburner, but McHale expects it to eventually attract distinctive local artists, jewelers, makers and boutique retailers who now mainly sell at fairs, markets and online.

McHale points out that even

during these challenging times one new business has “bravely” opened in Niwot recenty. Few of a Kind Vintage + Mercantile opened its doors and is offering curated vintage goods, new home accessories and gifts.

Not all businesses in the area have been impacted equally, but all business owners have felt it.

“After the first week we slowly got back to normal. We’ve been fortunate but none of us had a clue what to do when this first started,” says Steve Powers, owner of Steve’s Automotive in Longmont.

“It would be nice if someone waved their hand over Longmont and made everything okay but it is going to take a while to get through it.”

he organizers of two much-loved Longmont area events want to keep residents dancing and enjoying music but with social distancing in mind.

The Longmont Museum moved its free Summer Concert Series from the museum’s courtyard to a virtual event, while Niwot Dancing Under the Stars may have to be canceled this year depending on the state’s social distancing requirements.

“More than ever right now it’s important for the arts to be a place for people to experience joy, culture and connection,” said Joan Harrold, marketing and development manager for the Longmont Museum.

The Virtual Summer Concert Series features up-and-coming local bands and established regional and national bands playing salsa, jazz, blues and many other types of music. The concerts are recorded each week June 18 to July 30 at the museum’s 250-seat Stewart Auditorium and broadcast on Facebook Live. Viewers will have to bring their own snacks instead of being able to purchase food and beverages at the courtyard.

“It’s a challenging time but one that we will try to meet creatively through these virtual programs,” Harrold said.

The concert series had its start in 2002 when the museum relocated to its new building at 400 Quail Road, which had the addition of a courtyard for outdoor performances,

museum programming, festivals and community gatherings. The museum added the auditorium in 2015, where it offers concerts, including the Friday Afternoon Series, films, theater and dance—plus the outdoor concerts during inclement weather.

In mid-March, the museum temporarily closed its building in response to the state restrictions on social gatherings but wanted to have a way to continue the Summer Concert Series. The building may open later in the summer for exhibitions, though the museum’s historic walking tours are offered downtown but at a distance and the summer camps moved to a virtual outlet.

The performances for the concert series are recorded at 7:30 p.m. each week by the Longmont Public Media makerspace from three different camera angles and without any kind of audience, while the performers practice social distancing on stage.

Their performances typically last 1 ½ hours.

“They will be able to get very good video footage that we will be streaming live to Facebook,” Harrold said.

“It should be a high-quality concert July/August 2020

experience for people to listen to and watch from home.”

The concerts will be available on Longmont Museum’s Facebook page for viewing afterward, as well as Longmont Public Media’s YouTube channel.

In past years, the concerts drew an average attendance of 300 to 400 people, but with streaming, Harrold hopes to see more numbers and a larger area as Longmont area residents tell friends and family about it.

“I’m hopeful we are able to entertain more people through this program,” Harrold said. “It’s a great platform to interact together while enjoying something like a concert.”

The concerts are sponsored by the Longmont Community Founda-

tion and the Scientific Cultural and Facilities District, a regional tax district for the Denver Metropolitan Area.

“The variety of music that we are able to bring to these concerts is really enjoyable for people,” Harrold said. “It’s everything from blues to folk to salsa. We bring a lot of variety with this concert series, and we bring a lot of well-know names locally, regionally and nationally.”

Niwot Dancing Under the Stars Niwot Dancing Under the Stars features a free outdoor event that combines a dancing lesson with social dancing every Friday evening during the summer months. This year, the event originally was scheduled July 10 to Sept. 11, but may have a later starting date or be canceled entirely.

Cecily Palamara

Dr. Palamara knew from the age of 6 that she wanted to be a veterinarian. While growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Palamara shared her home with dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles and spent much of her time caring for and learning about each species. She also had an early passion for educating and inspiring others about animals and did presentations in her front yard to educate her friends, family, and neighbors about proper care for animals.

She received her BA in Evolutionary, Populational, and Organismal Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed an honors thesis in honeybee behavior. She then went on to complete her veterinary education at Colorado State University, where she received her DVM in 2010. After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Palamara completed an internship in emergency and critical care medicine. She then worked as an emergency clinician before moving on to general practice and shelter medicine. She comes to Pella Corner Animal Clinic after serving as chief veterinarian at a large non-profit organization in Denver.

Dr. Palamara believes in a collaborative approach to medicine and is honored to join the team at Pella Corner and to work with their wonderful clients. Their high-quality care combined with their friendly, laid back atmosphere make them a truly special animal hospital. Her special interests include emergency medicine, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry.

Dr. Palamara likes to spend her free time with her husband and two young children along with their two dogs and cat. She is also an avid yoga practitioner and enjoys metalsmithing.
