Shopping Local Strengthening Community Ties and Boosting the Local Economy
B
oulder County is known for its scenic landscapes, outdoor recreational activities, and vibrant communities. But beyond these attractions, the county boasts a rich tapestry of local businesses that are the backbone of its economy and community spirit. Shopping local in Boulder County is more than a mere transaction; it's an investment in the community. When residents choose to spend their dollars at local establishments, they are not just buying a product or a service. They are supporting their neighbors, strengthening local economies, and fostering a unique community identity. According to a study by the American Independent Business Alliance, spending at local businesses generates
more than three times as much local economic benefit per dollar as spending at chain-owned businesses. • Remove lids from jars. Using hot glue gun, glue foam cube to inside of lids then glue figurines to foam cubes.
• Place 1 tablespoon glycerin in jars then fill with water. Sprinkle glitter in jars.
• Seal jars by placing lids over mouths of jars and screwing rings onto lids. Flip jars over so figurines are right side up. Shake for snow globe effect.

here’s no time like the holidays for wine pairing! Festive gatherings and special occasions create an atmosphere of celebration, and hosts are on the hunt for exquisite flavors to complement their culinary creations. Holiday feasts are often diverse— ideal canvases for experimenting with various wine styles. The festive season just begs for exploration of a wider range of wines, including special vintages or unique varietals that might not be part of everyday wine purchases. So have a ball this winter, making a deeper connection between joyous occasions and a bottle that’s new to you. Matt Haynes, marketing manager at Wyatt’s Wet Goods in Longmont, has four suggestions for some superb holiday toasts!

Dressing:
3 tablespoons olive oil 1 tablespoon honey 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Salt and pepper to taste Instructions:
• Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). • Toss sweet potatoes and chickpeas with olive oil, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. • Spread on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes until the sweet potatoes are tender. • In a small bowl, whisk together the dressing ingredients.
