Facade
Uniformity maintained with corridors & repetitive design patterns.
Facade design for a south facing home. Client demanded a modern context monumental looking design, prevalent in current days. Privacy curtain from neighbouring plot on roof was welcomed. ● ● ● ● ●
Provision of deep seated balcony to enjoy the view in cool shade. Play of lights & shadow, & flexible shading options. Sense of courtyard provided for upper stories. Shade for parking area. An element designed for hanging big cloth for passive fanning & bells in the internal courtyard.

CHAPTER _ 4 CRITICAL APPRAISAL
This factory is a place for upcoming advanced solutions in the construction industry, call it as insulated thermal roofs or wall panels or blocks. Bot operated, plan for machinery had already been provided , while we were asked to design the facade, incorporate office & other facility areas for staff. Compulsory incorporation of solar panels was also asked for.
SOUTH
NORTH
Mirroring a mountainous form , the building grounds itself on site, creating a visually comfortable space for the workers while making room for catchment of solar radiation. CHALLENGES Solar plant As per the functional requirements of factory, the building block on SOUTH end, is of maximum height. While the rest of the building’s length gets gulped in it’s shadow.
Gradual raise in height of the structure to cut down shadow, to make room for catchment of solar radiation.
Ground Floor Plan
Skylight with solar panel cells
Solar panel installed on roof-top. Roof Plan NORTHERN SIDE Of the skylight, for light. SOUTHERN SIDE Of the skylight used as a perforated jali, using photovoltaic solutions

OPPORTUNITY Wind Wall We have a huge west side facade, & open space in north.
NORTH
This can be used as an advantage for passive cooling through windwall for factory or office space, without exposing it to the harsh winds of west side.
WEST
Part-Roof Plan for wind wall.
CHALLENGE Uniformity Facade Design for at a length as large as 63 M, was a challenge to come to terms with.
Response to Sharp edges : The use of sloping forms & character of building as a factory, already carry a harsher outline. To combat this, horizontal lines are used in the form, so as to slowly connect the building with ground, & make it visually comfortable for human perspective.
Bringing in Uniformity using the following measures : -Triangular forms in roof form, grooves & louvers, -Continuity with louvers, - Running grooves as a band, _ Slant groove, mirroring the form of louvers.
Efficient use of Sloping grooves : The middle compartment, is chosen to balance & visually connect the structure with the ground. At night time, light coming through it compliments the design & its purpose.
MATERIAL Gabion Wall Inspired from the nature of space, which is to store raw materials, gabion wall was chosen. This space might also get used for a shaded shelter, by workers.
Shed roof To deviate from huge finished surfaces of installations & adhere to rough nature of this place, while maintaining an open character to the place, mirroring a village background. Steel column
