1st Prague (Czech Republic) Scout Group z.s.

Group Chairman’s Report It’s been yet another year of exciting growth for 1st Prague Scouts. At our February census, we reported 130 Scouts and 45 adult volunteers. Today, all our sections are now at full capacity, with waiting lists for all. We are now the second largest group in the Northern Europe District of British Scouting Overseas and the fastest-growing across BSO. As the Covid-19 restrictions began to lift last summer, we held our first-ever All Sections summer camp.

More than 70 Scouts and leaders spent a memorable week hiking, swimming, canoeing, cycling, scooting, and, as ever, preparing wonderful cookouts. A dramatic storm on the final night meant they returned home bedraggled and with somewhat soggy kit but a great week was nevertheless had by all. Throughout the year, hikes and camps at weekends have been held for all sections, giving our young people priceless opportunities to learn valuable #skills for life.

The new school year saw the Cubs split into two sections, with the Beavers and Cubs moving into new homes at the “Sokols” in Vrsovice and Kampa. The Scouts and Explorers continue to meet weekly at Riverside’s Hradcanska campus and we are hugely grateful to Riverside for its continued support once the school was again able to open its doors to us.

As with so many organizations and individuals here in the Czech Republic, we were anxious to provide support to families fleeing the war in Ukraine. The Explorers led a fundraising drive, launched with an awareness-raising hike around Letna Park in March. The campaign has just closed, having reached its target of 100,000 kc. Half of the funds raised will be donated to SOS Detske Vesnicky to support its work for refugee families from Ukraine; the remainder is being used to fund the weekend events we are holding fortnightly and which are now drawing a steady crowd of familiar faces. We have also been able to welcome some Ukrainian young people into our sections. Heartfelt thanks are owed to the Russian and Ukrainianspeaking parents and Scouts who have stepped up to help them settle in. Our work has been acknowledged with gratitude from the leadership of The Scout Association and is being championed on scouting’s social media networks.

Like all UK Scout Groups, 1st Prague Scouts is entirely volunteer-led and managed. We are luckier than we know to have Simon Burgess (Mang), one of the Scouting movement’s most experienced leaders, as our Group Scout Leader. Section leaders Colonel Hathi (Explorers), Manon (Scouts), Baloo (Cubs - Bears), King Louie (Cubs - Wolves) and Bambi (Beavers) all have full-time jobs, but dedicate many hours each week to planning and running programmes for their sections, as do their assistant leaders.

Behind the scenes, Michael Bibby has been tireless in his work to manage our ever-growing financial commitments, and has introduced processes and disciplines that we need to support our continued growth.

Clare Whiting-Topinkova, secretary of our executive committee, brings an enviable efficiency in minutetaking and her chasing on actions committed to is a great change for the better. Mark Farrell and Chris Roberts, formal parent representatives on the executive committee, ensure that family perspectives are taken into account. Brook Braithwaite has been instrumental in developing our relationship with City Hall, the early results of which will be announced soon.

Again, an enormous thanks to all our amazing leaders! We are continually on the search for new faces to join our team. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me if you’d like to explore how to contribute more. Each of us have a lot to offer, but working together we can be even greater than the sum of our parts! We can look with confidence to an exciting year ahead!

Group Scout Leader’s Report

So we managed to get through COVID! We had two difficult years of rules, regulations and lockdowns.

Where other groups suffered significantly due to loss of income or members leaving. We weathered the storm in reasonably good health, thankfully!

To say COVID didn’t have an impact is simply not true though, because many plans we had were delayed or cancelled and many of our team didn’t have an easy time with it, particularly whilst we were online. But here we are in our 8th year, still going and back even bigger and stronger.

In our census this January we counted 130 young people in our group and with our adult Network and leaders we have 175 members. This is amazing when you consider we started in 2014 with only a handful of members. However, we are not all about the numbers though, our aim is to continue improving quality to provide a better experience for all our members. Part of this growth was due to the adding of a brand new Cub Pack on a Tuesday night meeting Prague 10, thanks to Chris, Simon and Jo and the wider Cub teams for making this a great success. The rest of the growth was due to moving to capacity in all sections. We now have a large waiting list, which we see as a challenge to be solved as soon as possible.

Our year has gone well with lots of fabulous activities being provided, we hope that we will add to this next year with more and more fun activities now we are able plan in advance again. You can see about the different things our members have been up to in the section reports.

There are a few things that must get mention by me as Group Scout Leader, firstly our Group Camp in July last year, this was incredibly successful and saw 50 young people enjoy a week of activities in Southern Bohemia taking part in traditional Scouting and adventurous activities. On our first night at camp we had the traditional leader briefing after the kids had all gone to bed after a very busy day which ended with a scout campfire. As we sat around the tables in our event shelter, I commented on my feeling of pride, because there before me were 20 adults all in camp with the same aim to provide a great experience to the young people we had taken to camp. A great time was had!

The second notable event happened following the terrible situation that has been occurring in Ukraine. Like most people, members of our group were shocked by the events that had been unfolding there and felt they needed to do something, as tens of thousands of refugees displaced by the conflict started to leave their country. Initially many of our members like myself locked onto to some of the volunteer opportunities in Prague such as providing clothing, sleeping bags, medical supplies etc or by helping in various refugee centres. One of our members even took medical supplies to Ukraine. These activities were very worthwhile and helped significantly, but as a group we did not have a focus. It took our Explorers to stand up and decide on what we should do. They worked with the group to determine that we would try and just run activities to support Ukrainian young people arriving as refugees in Prague. We started by raising some money to help young people and our activities for them. We raised over 3500 euros in our Hike for Ukraine, this was quite Page|7

an achievement, this was mainly the work of Atreyu one of our Explorers, their work on this activity made it a great success. After this we ran regular activities with games in the park and Easter crafts. We hope to continue this work and develop it as the need arises.

Our work on supporting Ukrainian young people did not stop though with providing activities, we have, where we can, accepted some refugee young people into our sections. I am so proud of our section leaders who have taken this step, with language challenges and being already full not seeming to be an issue. We have been also fortunate to accept Ukrainian young people who were previously Scouts in Ukraine in our group.

This year post COVID our Thursday Beavers and Cubs moved home to SOKOL Kampa, and our new pack found a home at SOKOL Vrsovice these moves although expensive financially for the group provides certainty of location for the next year or so. We have a plan to cover these costs with grants so the impact on the group should be reduced and the grants will also help us with our aim to reduce the overall cost of Scouting to our members. I would like to thank the work of Petra on making the moves a success and to Brook and Marcel on their work on applying for grants.

Nearly there…. but I can’t forget to thanks my section leaders of Chisato, Chris, Simon and Jo, Manon and Alastair and to our Group Executive committee led by Eleanor. They have spent hundreds of hours this year supporting young people. Without them and their fantastic teams we could not be as successful as we are.

Our leaders and volunteers are our greatest resource and we thank each and every one of them for what they do.

I can’t ignore another group achievement this year of having three our members selected to attend next year’s world Scout Jamboree in South Korea as young people, congratulations to Alex, Isabella and Sophie, Page|8

three of our Explorer Scouts. Their journey to South Korea includes significant fundraising, which will mean that in the new Scouting year we will try and help raise some of the money to get them there.

Our stated vision is to provide scouting to as many English speaking international young people as possible, we will continue this work after the summer by opening a second Troop to reduce the waiting list and maybe soon……Squirrels.

Sectional Reports

Beavers kicked started at the Summer Group Camp in beginning of July. Ten Beavers joined other members of the group and four of them were invested as Cub Scouts during the camp and they spent a week with all our group. We enjoyed various activities and they clearly grew up a lot after the camp.

Since September many new members joined our Beavers. We learned our essential scouting skills such as knots, ironing our scarf, Science Experiment, lighting candles, art & craft to make a Christmas candle decoration in December to finish 2021. The scouting essential skill session was run by Spike. The Beavers enjoyed a lot and used these skills at home, supporting their families on daily basis.

From the New year, we learned about the global issues on our planet. We invented imaginary machines using recycled materials. We got to know about water issues in those country and learned not everyone drinking a safe water even we are living on the same planet. We learned how to make water filter run by Mang.

We all planted bulbs to learn how the plants grows. Beavers enjoyed watering and taking care of them at home for several weeks.

We also had a cultural session to learn about Japan and Japanese calligraphy. All the Beavers practiced to write their own names in Japanese, tried to play a Japanese drum and learnt how to say various things in Japanese. Simona added the craft session to create cherry blossom tree as an art piece. I hope Japan became closer to Beavers even though it is far away from The Czech Republic.

Also we had first aid session from our leader Rama who works as a paramedic to run first aid session only for Beavers. Some Beavers tried the skill at home after this session and talked about it in the car on the way to school next morning.

We learned about the Space that it was very hot topic at time. It was run by Spike. Spike always brings interesting topics for Beavers to learn the new things!

Our Weekend activities were mainly organized by Chikai. We visited Planetarium, Railway Kingdom, to see the real helicopter at the airport and got in the cockpit, thanks to Bell Helicopters, visiting Zoo to have special session, and self-defense session. Beavers experienced so many special things that they all enjoyed very much. We also went Hiking with a unit of Czech Scouts, this was a special hike as well as tough for some of the Beavers due to the snow. Despite the weather our Beavers climbed steep hills and never gave up and enjoyed the beautiful view and company of Czech Scout friends.

Last, but not least, I would like to thank all the parents for supporting us through the year. We have had “It was so much fun!” with a big sweet smile from the Beavers end of each session. Their happiness, pleasure, and observing their growth are our energy to keep us going to create our high quality sessions.

Our Beavers are so pure and sweet as always and wishing their healthy growth ahead of their life. 😊

The past 2 years have been probably some of the most unique in the history of Scouting.

COVID brought new challenges to delivering programmes to our young people, but the past 12 months proved to be very exciting and equally rewarding.

The growth of our 1st Prague Group has been exponential and that of our Cubs pack has been leading the trend, showing that there is great interest in Scouting values and activities.

So much that our Cubs Pack was split into separate packs, Bears and Wolves, after Summer.

Akela and King Louie quickly adapted to their new role as Leaders of the Wolves pack, aided by Kotick, Oe, Wontola, Mor, and Olga, while Baloo remained in charge of the Bears with Winifred and Bagheera.

A special thanks should be reserved to our Young Leaders, Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, Ikki and Jacala. They brought their enthusiasm and their exceptionally well refined scouting skills into the Pack, often organising and leading activities independently.

The past 12 months have seen the largest Summer Camp ever organised by 1st Prague, with 50 young people attending, 21 of them Cubs, with whom we spent 8 nights near Suchdol nad Lužnicí, a town in Jindřichův Hradec District in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.

Finally allowed to spend quality time together and in the open, Cubs experienced all sort of activities, from pioneering and first aid training with Rama, to backwoods cooking, and even rafting in Český Krumlov.

For some of them it was the first time they slept in a tent.

Having enjoyed the rhythms of the Summer Camp, most of our Cubs braved the morning frost on our tents and joined us for the Autumn Camp in October, 2021.

Also, our “usual” weekly sessions proved to be engaging, packed with new skills and sometimes a little less “ordinary”. In September Bagheera took the Pack on a boat ride along the Vltava river on a Swedish vintage mahogany boat. Cubs had the chance to practice knots, basic navigation rules and drive the boat while training man overboard rescue manoeuvres.

As the days got shorter and colder, we started using the spaces provided by Sokol in Ujezd to meet inside.

That allowed us to train on more theoretical but equally important subjects. Our sessions covered topics like disability awareness, communication skills, animal caring, money management skills, cooking, music, environmental conservation and first aid.

But whenever the weather or the occasion allowed, we also organised outdoor activities or short hikes. We went biking, ice-skating, bowling and hiking at Karlštejn Castle.

All those activities contributed greatly to what is probably one of the main goals of scouting; teaching skills for life. And we are proud to announce that this year we were able to award the highest number of Chief Scout’s Silver Awards yet, to Ohsei, Matthew, Tudor, Woojin, Amara, Stella, Seojin and Iskender.

A year full of achievements and happy moments for sure, but as I’m drafting the final paragraphs of this report some very unsettling events are unfolding not far from us and I believe they deserve recognition. The conflict in Ukraine has already strongly affected our lives and has reflected on the activities of our Group. All sort of activities has been organised by all Sections of 1st Prague Scouts and also our Packs have been hosting Ukrainian refugees during our meetings.

All the activities and the achievements of the past year would not have been possible without the efforts and the time dedicated by our volunteer leaders, so a big thank you should be reserved to Rudolf, Julie, Nathan, Lydia and Olga.

Equally I would like to thank the parents for their support and of course our young people, as without their enthusiasm and energy the entire scouting experience would not exist.

This year had (hopefully) started for the last time online! By May 2021 the troop was out and about, having session in Letna, and enjoy the Czech spring. We had one bike trip in Prague before the end of school term to reconnect with the troop. The summer had a great start with the group’s first summer camp, with 15 scouts, among which four former cubs moved on the next section and were invested .During those seven days, the troop learned many new skills, cooking, pioneering, emergency aid, canoeing, problem solving. This event strengthened the young people’s teamwork and bonding, not only with other scouts, but with also with the younger sections (Beavers and Cubs). Naturally they learned from the Explorers that guided them across some activities. All of this happened while leaders bonded over illegal pasta gathering and water trips to the pub.

The troop returned in September, still operating from outdoors or external location due to covid uncertainties and had some great nights outs and about.

Our first camp of the term was joined with both Cub packs, “The Bare necessities” ,where most of the scouts had to lead the camp by cooking, cleaning, setting up tents, while 5 older scouts performed their expedition and had to sustain themselves over the weekend. By the end of camp two of them, Patrick and Krystof ,aka Navi, were awarded their last challenge badge before receiving their Gold Challenge Award and moved on to the Explorer Unit.

During October we returned to Riverside School in Hradcanska for weekly sessions, when the scouts learned first aid, cooking skills, and other crafty skills. In November we went on a hike in Týnec nad Sázavou and enjoyed a day out in the Czech countryside with our new leaders Albert and Dave.

Through January and February, the scouts learn about having a healthy lifestyle and balancing an appropriate diet with decent amount of sleep. Their home-made spaghetti measurer will surely come in handy next time they want to have some delicious Italian food. We once again joined the cub packs for an ice-skating night in Karlin, where the scouts could compete against non-other than Baloo himself for fastest skater, and enjoyed a delicious hot chocolate offered by one supportive parent present with us.

As we know now, this period was also marked by the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and brought many Ukrainians family to Prague. As the group, we did our best to welcome Ukrainian children who would want to learn new skills with us, and try to integrate Prague’s communities.

As March arrived, we held our first Scouts only camp in Holice, where we meet up with the local Czech Scouts, and enjoyed some joined activities and games, many languages were spoke that day, but the fun was definitely real. The scouts learned about the environment and how to support it, by doing some bird feeders, and bugs hotels, during which many nails were lost to the cause. On the second day, the troop refreshed their pioneering skills and learned how to safely use axes and saws to keep the leaders warm. Before closing camp, the scouts had the opportunity to express their thoughts, through an anonymous survey, where they clearly affirmed that Chef Gabi was the coolest Scouts Leaders, and gave the leaders more ideas on future activities.

As the spring started to show in Prague, the scouts were able to enjoy more and more weekly activities outside, learned how to play rugby “safely”, and refreshed their navigation skills. On April 2nd, we could finally join the event Uklid'me cesko and the scouts of Prague 6, to help clean Prosek and earn their World Challenge Award.

Although the school year is almost over, the best is still to come, with the trip to Luxembourg for District Camp, with the Cubs and Explorers, and the 2nd editions of 1st Prague Scouts Summer Group Camp!

The Bohemians The past year has been challenging and inspiring in equal measure. The Group Summer Camp on the banks of the Dračice river near Třeboň was a great way to end the 2021 academic year. Although the Cubs and Scouts seemingly tried to drive the Explorers mad with their 6am starts and non-stop noise, it was great to see the Bohemians playing games and helping the younger scouts doing their rafting, pioneering, orienteering and being the baddies in the desert apocalypse wide game (you had to be there!). The Explorers also escaped for a bike ride through the forests and around the lakes of Třeboň, and scooted to Ferrata Hluboká where, once we donned harnesses and hard hats, we climbed along the cliffs just centimetres above the Vltava.

In late August, with Covid restrictions still in place, we returned to our corner of Letna Park. The Bohemian’s first outdoor adventure in October was canoeing on the Ohre led by Chris Tebb. Slowly normality returned, and as the nights got cooler and shorter, we were able to resume in The Riverside Arts Centre. The longer nights were interspersed with a trip to the cinema, bowling, and ice-skating. The Bohemian’s had a repeat ski weekend in Jánské Lázně after a year off.

The end of February was a shock to everyone. The Explorers decided that they wanted to help and quickly set about raising money to support Ukrainian refugee families who were already arriving in their thousands.

Barely three weeks after the invasion, the Bohemians, led by Atreyu, organised and ran a Hike for Ukraine in Letna Park which involved the whole 1st Prague community. The objective (recently achieved) was to raise 100,000 Kč to support Ukrainian refugee children through the charity SOS dětské vesničky, z.s. and to raise money for a series of events put on by 1st Prague for Ukrainian young people. Every other weekend since then 1st Prague has run an event, starting with fun and games in the park (in the cold!), an Easter Egg hunt, a hike in Klánovice forest and most recently a treasure hunt tour of Prague run by a local tour company, insightcities.

In addition to running events for Ukrainian young people we have welcomed two Ukrainian scouts into the Explorers and they have settled in quickly and are already an important part of the group. One of them was invested, alongside his new friend and translator, a Russian member of the Bohemians, at our Spring Camp on an island in the Berounka river near Prague.

At the beginning of the year two new Scouts moved up to the Explorers (Patrick, and Kristof), to add to a number of new additions throughout the year, taking our number of Explorers and Network members (in full-time education) to 27 – tripling our number in just three years.

Three Explorers have been very active as Young Leaders this year - Milla, Isi and Alex have all been a key part of the Bears cub leadership. There has been good progress on Duke of Edinburgh Awards, with three now about to receive their Bronze Awards (Isi who has completed all elements, and Hannah and Sofie who have just their Adventurous Journey to complete at summer camp). Particular congratulations also to Milla who has completed her Gold DofE Award (albeit under the auspices of her school).

A big thank you to our Leaders, Andra (for being there always), Chris, Gretchen, and our new addition Adele, and of course Simon and the other Section Leaders, who all work tirelessly to advance 1st Prague for the benefit of our ever growing community.

Finally, it is with great pride that we say goodbye to number of long standing members of 1st Prague Scouts.

Emmie, who joined on the first day with Simon over 8 years ago, and Francesco who joined shortly thereafter, are joined by more recent Bohemians, Kadri, Milla and Sonia, who are all leaving for new P a g e | 18

adventures at university. We wish them all well and look forward to seeing them back in Prague as Network members over the coming years.

We look forward to many more adventures, starting with our much delayed Survival Camp in mid June and our next Group Summer Camp on the borders of Czech Switzerland in July. We will continue to provide many more fun, challenging and interesting things to do together and most importantly #skillsforlife.

GROUP TREASURER’S REPORT TO 31ST DECEMBER 2021 All of the Group´s finances in 2021 went through the groups sole account at Fio banka.

There are two cards for the account, kept by the Group Leader and the Scout´s Section Leader. I am responsible for the online banking.

Despite the constraints of the pandemic, the number of scouts continued to grow year on year.

As a result of those constraints a number of decisions were approved by the executive regarding subscription fees, including a payment holiday, and the option to pay 50% of monthly subscription fees at the beginning of the year. As a result the growth in income was not directly in line with the growth in the number of Young People joining the Group, when compared year on year.

The closing the bank account balance on 31/12/2021 was 360,760.95 Kč.

Structure, Governance and Management •

The Group's governing documents are those of The Scout Association and of the Czech Republic’s Association (Spolek). They consist of a legal Spolek (association document) and a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the By-Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

The Group is a trust established under its rules which are common to all Scouts. It has a constitution, drawn up in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association, Czech law and UK Charity Commission guidance.

The association committee members/trustees are appointed in accordance with the rules governing a Czech Republic Spolek (association) and Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

The group is managed by the Association Committee and the Group Executive Committee. As charity trustees the members of the committees are responsible for complying with legislation

applicable to charities. This includes registration, keeping proper accounts and making returns as appropriate.

The association committee is represented by 3 members who are responsible to the group executive committee which consists of 3 independent representatives, Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary, together with the Group Scout Leader, individual section leaders and parents’ representation. It meets every regularly as required. Electronic communication is extensively used for discussion and decision making.

This association committee and the Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of the appointment and is responsible for: o o o o o o o

The maintenance of Group property; The raising of funds and the administration of Group finance, including advising on and setting budgets for sections to follow; The insurance of persons, property and equipment; Group public events; Assisting in the recruitment of leaders and other adult support; Appointing any subcommittees that may be required; Appointing Group Administrators and Advisors other than those who are elected.

Objectives and Activities The objectives of the group are as a unit of The Scout Association. The aim of The Scout Association is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities. The method of achieving the aim of the UK Scout Association is by providing an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law and guided by adult leadership.

Young People’s Top Awards 2021/22 There is a specific Chief Scout's Award for each Scouting Section: the Bronze Award is dedicated to Beavers, the Silver Award is for Cubs, the Gold Award is only for Scouts and the Explorers can choose between the Diamond and Platinum Chief Scout awards.

The Group Bronze Scout Award 2022 This year we have instigated a new special award The Bronze Scout Award.

This award will be given annually to the Beaver Scout, Cub Scout, Scout, Explorer Scout in each section that has shown particular dedication and commitment to being a Scout and its values during the year. We will also be recognising the adult volunteers who has shown exceptional dedication to supporting young people in our group.

Recipients will receive a special framed certificate and their names engraved on the trophy that has been donated to the group.

This year’s recipients: -

APPENDIX A Minutes of the Annual Meeting of the 1st Prague (Czech Republic) Scout Group held on 31st May 2021 online.

Item 1. Welcome The Chair welcomed everyone to the 1st Prague (Czech Republic) Scout Group z.s. – British Scouting Overseas, Annual General Meeting 2021. Specific welcomes were extended to: - Group Vice Presidents – Matt Lightfoot.

- Members of the Group Scout Council, parents and leaders.

- Supporters and friends of the group.

Item 2. Apologies Apologies were received with thanks and recorded from: Paul Kanikowski – District Commissioner, Christina Marr – ADC Group Support, and Chris Wait – Cub Scout Leader.

Item 3. Minutes of the 2020 Annual General Meeting held 29th June 2020 Mary Keane proposed the Minutes as a true record. Erica Hartinger consented to second the Minutes.

Against none. The proposal is carried.

Item 4. Annual Report and the scrutinised Statement of Accounts 2018 Accounts were presented by Jana Pavkova, Group Treasurer . Simon presented the rest of the annual report.

The annual report has also been shared with all and is available on the website.

Challenging year with COVID – international events were cancelled and growth limited across sections.

Transition to online scouting was challenging. However, despite all challenges still able to deliver great online programmes. Not all members engaged but the programme was available and received well by many.

Returned face-face late June - October 2020. In that time the group grew – increased by 16% from the previous year. Whilst lower than would have been without COVID this remains positive. Despite challenges young people have completed and received awards in the year. Thanks goes to all the leaders who put in extensive effort to deliver remote programmes almost weekly through the lockdown. Many leaders have completed their adult training. Ten Wood badges achieved and many more on the way to achieving them – significant time commitment to achieve this. Going forward looking at the longer term goal of securing own premises.

Thanks to section leaders Chisato, Chris, Manon and Alistair for the commitment as well as their teams. Thanks to Eleanor and Executive Committee for their work. Thanks to Jenny as Assistant Scout Leader and Alistair as Deputy – for the immense challenges faced through COVID adaptations. Video presented showing inspiring photos of the group.

Item 5. Matt Lightfoot confirmed as Group Vice President Matt helped start the Scout Group and is a great asset and friend to the group.

Item 6. Group Scout Leader’s nomination for Group Chairman to the Executive Committee of the 1st Prague Scout Group Council.

Eleanor Hammond has agreed to continue her role as Group Chair of the 1st Prague Scout Group Executive and council for the next year. Thanks given to all leaders, member and young people. Looking forward to getting back to Scouting as ‘usual’ and all the upcoming activities with growing group.

Item 7. The election of Officers.

Claire Whiting has agreed to be our Group Secretary. She is operating in this role as a co-opted member.

Petra Novakova consented to propose the appointment of Group Secretary. Charles Bird consented to second the appointments of Group Secretary. The online election previous circulated approved their appointment. 19 members of the group council voted. The proposal is carried Jana has stepped down as group treasurer. Great thanks were extended to Jana for her support to the group in the role of treasurer and her effort in managing the groups finances. Presented with a small gift in thanks of her support.

An appointment for the group treasurer will be made soon.

Item 8. The Group Scout Leader nominated two members to the 1st Prague Scout Group Executive Committee for the next 12 months Stephen Foster and Kadri Aston. As Young Persons’ Representative Kadri was an Explorer scout until she was 18 and has now taken on this adult role to give a real young person’s view on the leadership of the group.

Item 9 Members of the Group Scout Council proposed to join the 1st Prague Scout Group Executive Committee Mark Farrell – Parent Rep and Group Appointments Secretary Chris Roberts – Parent Rep Claire Whiting consented to propose the appointments of elected members of the 1st Prague Scout Group Executive Committee.

Alastair Hammond consented to second the appointments of elected members of the 1st Prague Scout Group Executive Committee The online election previous circulated approved their appointment. 19 member of the group council voted.

The proposal was carried. Chris and Mark were welcomed.

Item 10. Group’s Scrutineer to examine the Accounts for 1st Prague Scout Group Scout for the next 12 months.

Katerina Grief has agreed to continue be the Group’s Scrutineer to examine the Accounts for 1st Prague Scout Group Scout for the next 12 months.

The online election previous circulated approved her appointment. 19 member of the group council voted online. Proposal carried.

Meeting Close Praise was given for the various adult awards achieved this year in addition to the young people’s awards.

Ten Wood Badges is a huge achievement. Lot of work it’s the highest number of Wood Badges for any Overseas group.

Good Services Awards - Matt Lightfoot – Chief Scouts Commendation for good service - Jenny (Assistant Group Scout Leader) earned her five-year service award.

Chief Scout Commendation for Good Service – given for those that went over and above in the last year to provide inspirational and interesting programs online Chisato Hashizume and Gabriele D’Ortona who both delivered fantastic programs.
