LOCATION: Chennai
SITE AREA: 5.7 Acres
The cooum riverfront is a waterfront developed along the bank of River cooum at chennai,Tamil nadu. The Cooum River originates in a village of the same name in Kadambathur union in Tiruvallur district, about 70 kilo meters from Chennai, although starting its main course at Sattarai village, around 65 kilometres from Chennai. It is the shortest river draining into the Bay of Bengal.
PROJECT BRIEF
The objective is to provide city with a meaningful waterfront environment along the bank of the River and to redefine an identity of chennai, around the river. Creating net- worth of public open spaces. Providing adequate public access to the river. The project looks to re-connect the city and residents with the river and positively transform the neglected aspects of the riverfront.

The site located at the center of the urban area, which are high populated. The Cooum river which connects the Buckingham canal as entry has to be retreated. The river connects to the sea, which is a delta area.

A food court is generally located near one of the larger “anchor stores” in a shop ping mall, or else in a location convenient for truck deliveries. The location tends to make it a destination point, encouraging shoppers to browse smaller stores and ki osks along the route. While some specialty food vendors may rent more centralized spaces, most full-service restaurant owners prefer the pool of potential customers created in a food court. Customers are often more willing to sample unusual or eth nic foods when all of the options are grouped together. It is not unusual for employ ees to offer free samples of their products to potential customers walking through the area.
Environmental improvements: Reduction in erosion and flood to safeguard the city sewage diversion to clean the river; wa ter retention and recharge.
Social infrastructure: Rehabilitation and resettlement of riverbed dwellers and activi ties creation of parks and public spaces. Provision of socio-cultural amenities for the city.
Sustainable development: Generation of resources, revitalization of public realm around the river side and cre ating vibrant urban neighbor hood.

mall”, and consequently for the entire idea of public instruction,desire and commerce. Shopping
create a field of experience which is multidimensional and interdisciplinary. It is in this way,the great traditions of public spaces,the market,desire of fulfillment are connected to our present – which can creates a future that is both unexpected and compelling. Be yond designing spaces,need to question the mall as a typology in the Indian context. Align the functional volumes parallel to perimeter of the site. According to the road view. Subtract volumes of edges to create the geometrical shape. Add up
