I THINK PLANNED PARENTHOOD SOUTHWEST OHIO IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT’S MORE THAN JUST HEALTHCARE, IT’S A MOVEMENT. IT’S ABOUT EDUCATION. IT’S ABOUT EMPOWERMENT. IT’S ABOUT PROVIDING ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT THE PEOPLE THAT I KNEW DIDN’T HAVE, WHICH GIVES US CONTROL OVER OUR BODIES AND OUR LIVES, WHICH, UNFORTUNATELY TODAY IN ITSELF IS REVOLUTIONARY.

DEAR FRIENDS,

IT’S REMARKABLE TO THINK HOW MUCH HAS CHANGED IN JUST ONE YEAR. This has been

a time of incredible progress and growth for Planned Parenthood Southwest Ohio Region, but also at a time when we faced major new challenges.

Because of you, this year more than 20,000 patients accessed services at our 7 health centers. We also educated and gave information to more than 2,200 people in schools, churches and at community events, replacing fear with facts and galvanizing new advocates for reproductive health and justice. Every day, we reached out to people where they live, listening to what they need from us and connecting them to the care that will help them live better, more healthful lives.

Our work is far from over. Between new advances in medical technology, radical shifts in care delivery, and the surge in newly insured Ohioans, the health care landscape continues to change quickly, and we need to change with it. We have to keep innovating. We have to keep growing. We have to keep improving. We have to keep fighting.

To help us adapt to these changes, we continue to follow our board-approved strategic plan that lays the foundation for a strong future. We right-sized our operations for financial stability, and plan to continue to improve our patients’ access to health care. We also plan to expand our donor and supporter bases and advocate for our reproductive and sexual health care services.

With your support, we are committed to making these changes a reality, and continuing to provide our community with the highest-quality reproductive health care, education and advocacy. It’s your support, and your confidence, that enable us to deliver on the Planned Parenthood promise that everyone, no matter their background, income, insurance, sexuality, ideology, or immigration status, deserves compassionate care. And, because of you, we will thrive for generations to come.

{I HAVE BEEN GOING TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD FOR YEARS FOR MY BASIC GYNECOLOGICAL NEEDS. THE STAFF HAS BEEN MUCH FRIENDLIER AND MORE SUPPORTIVE THAN OTHER PROVIDERS I HAVE SEEN. THEY ALWAYS PROVIDE ME WITH THE KNOWLEDGE I NEED TO MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS ABOUT MY OWN HEALTH CARE. THEY NEVER TRY TO PUSH PARTICULAR TREATMENTS OR PRODUCTS.

I WENT TO A PRIVATE PRACTICE AT THE BEGINNING WHEN I TURNED 18. BUT WHEN I GOT OLDER, I CHOSE TO GO TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE I WANT MY MONEY TO GO. THIS IS WHERE I GET BETTER SERVICE, MORE PERSONALIZED SERVICE. I GENUINELY FELT LIKE THEY CARED ABOUT ME, THEY CARED ABOUT MY HEALTH AND MY LIFE AND WANTED THE BEST FOR ME.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD’S EDUCATION PROGRAMS ENABLE YOUTH TO ACCEPT NEW INFORMATION WITHOUT FEELING ASHAMED OR ACTING OUT IN ORDER TO MASK THEIR LACK OF KNOWLEDGE IN AREAS REGARDING SEXUALITY. TO GENUINELY CONNECT WITH ATRISK YOUTH AND TO EDUCATE THEM ON HOW TO BE MORE RESPONSIBLE, BOTH EMOTIONALLY AND SEXUALLY, IS A RARE TALENT. THE COMPASSION AND EXPERTISE OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD STAFF HAS HAD A REAL AND PROFOUND IMPACT WITHIN OUR PROGRAM.
