But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person

Matthew 15:11

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; and this defiles a person

Luke 6:45

The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear

Over 90 such scriptures can be found in the Bible with very little effort We believe in the power of God, we believe in salvation, we believe the story of the gospel of Jesus and even how Genesis describes the creation of this planet and our universe Then for some reason, we decide that "words" are harmless I’ve heard many connect the teachings of the power of words with name it and claim it. However, this has nothing to do with the Holy Word of God's stand on how we speak

I am often surprised at how bitter and angry people can often be They’ll rant and rave on and on and on then say, “I’ll pray about it”. What?! They have zero belief in their negative words, yet claim they can “pray” and God will jump in and fix it That's not how it works When we run our mouths about how things won’t work out or how terrible life is or how bad we have it, we are saying “God can’t do anything about it”. 2 Corinthians 4:13: “I BELIEVE; therefore, I have SPOKEN, Faith without works is dead." (James 2 14-26) The beginning of this work is how we use our WORDS”.

It is work to guard our words Thoughts are often nearly impossible to tame and will turn into words so easily if we let our guard down. It is a minute-by-minute task. We must be vigilant in the war against negative thinking 2 Corinthians 10:5 says: “We take captive every thought to make them obedient to Christ.”

This shows us that we MUST guard our thoughts before they become words Words activate our faith and show what we truly “believe”. Words are also irreversible. That is why they’re so powerful. Negative talk exposes our hearts and spreads doubt to everyone around us It also shows the enemy that he has us beaten down. While positive words are more difficult at times, It is certainly worth it. Joshua 1:8 says: “Keep this book of the law ALWAYS on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. THEN you will be prosperous and successful.”

This shows us the key to success and how to prosper. Speaking the promises of God and having those promises on our mind day and night Luke 6:38 says: “Give and it shall be given to you, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with what measure you use it will be measured back to you." This is also speaking of “sowing and reaping”. When we sow negativity, we will IN FACT reap negativity. If bitter, hateful, negative words are what we speak and give, that is the measure that it will be given back.

Now I know some reading this will say “that’s kooky talk”, there’s no way that our words can affect our life direction or success or failure etc There’s a reason that God SPOKE the creation of all things into existence. He knew the power of WORDS. He activated the power of creation with words. Those words activated FAITH and made it happen This is exactly how we are directed to live So many scriptures in the Bible teach us about our words. Positive, faith-based words will result in VICTORY. Negative talk will defile our lives

How about this, a one week challenge, give it a try Start today and guard your words Speak only what is productive, speak only the promise and goodness of God, speak only of his hope and love and goodness. Try for an entire week to speak not one single thing that is negative It will SHOCK you at how you will feel at the end of that week. God wants us to be happy and healthy and successful and prosperous. That can’t happen while we are spewing negativity out of our mouth all the time. Speak POSITIVE and see POSITIVE come to pass in your life!!
