It’s uniquely my favorite sale of the year, and least favorite sale of the year.
I always enjoy putting this sale together. As we begin to evaluate, read pedigrees and matings, it gets me excited for the year to come. Then we get them in the yard to picture and I quickly remember that we’re selling them and I’ll be begging for gilts once again from their new owners.
As you read through the pedigrees and matings please understand these females weren’t purchased to offer for sale. They were purchased for a purpose and the way things worked out in 2025 we felt these five rose to the top and needed to be offered.
I expect 2025's version of Queens of the Herd to set the pace for the future. We're offering up a lot of talent here and I hope that's blatantly obvious because letting go of these 5 isn't easy!

HEALTH
All females in the sale are considered healthy and ready to farrow just as if they were farrowing here at QFS. They had ultrasounds done on 10/17 to confirm pregnancy. We offer no guarantees of litter sizes. In the event that pregnancy is in question we will deal with each case individually on a 60/40 scale with the sow being 60% of the purchase.

143-8 was a baby pig purchase from Heimer Hampshires February online sale. 143-8 has been a dream to watch grow and develop. This gilt doesn’t have bad days, she has good days, better days and great days. She’s built so well for being moderate and boxy with a stout skull and still the right look, hair and bone. We went ahead and bred her to Alibi which should just continue that approach of good build with extras. This is a gilt we really believe in and she’s mated as good as we can get. Alibi pigs sell and feed. Maybe I’ve said this too many times, but we plan to offer the best every time we have a sale. This is as good as we have! Mom is mate to Trig Stoller’s 2023 Illinois State Fair Champion Barrow Open Show and Reserve Division Barrow Junior Show.

Bred by S&K Showpigs, 4-5 is built like every Canned Heat I've seen – short backed, busted open with cage, look and proportions. I'm pretty excited about this mating and from what I've seen lately, lining up High Heat and Canned Heats moms has been very good. Throw in that Moyer "showpig look" and maybe she'll make something special. To top all of that off she's bellied down and it's still early.

Bred by Tres Amigos, 20-8 is one of the absolute best creatures we've ever offered in Queens Of the Herd. A whole lot of showpigs need what 20-8 offers. Her hip and hind leg build and design is so rugged, durable and built to breed on. 20-8's grand mother would be the Supreme Commercial Gilt at 2023 Oklahoma Youth Expo bred by Coulson. Tres Amigos sold a boar to the Linder crew a year ago at PT they call Warm And Fuzzy, 20-8 is a 3/4 sib. When mating 20-8 we knew we could breed her to just about anything and it's probably going to work but one boar that stuck out to me more than most last summer is Golden Era at Upperhand. Golden Era is a Kong x JOJO x Kingpin bred by Heimer Hampshires. He looks like his pedigree being large limbed, harry, dense and looks like a showpig but reads like a breeding hog. This one is bred to the 10s!

We made a conscious effort to visit the G&S crew last winter on multiple occasions. 7-7 came from one of their earlier sales, her mother's pedigree would be Backdrop x Family Tradition x Heartbreaker. The Wheeler crew showed 7-7's aunt (pictured) and also the grandmother. Her Grandmother was a stout one that we certainly would have loved to own and did a fare amount of winning a few years back. This pedigree goes back to the same sow line that produced the Wehmer barrow that won San Antonio a couple years ago. 7-7 as you can see is a beautifully designed female with a big big rugged kind of hind leg with athleticism and muscle. We thought this was as good of a place as any to use Alibi. Alibi will get proportions in check, add more cage, more skull, spread and with his build I think this could work very well. There hasn't been much Alibi hasn't gotten right and litters tend to be deep. Bid with confidence!

We call this one "CURLY" because she has a LOT of hair, was a baby pig purchase from S&K Showpigs. She's really matured the past couple of months and went from a boxy, burl-boned market gilt to a much more feminine appearing breeding gilt. She comes from a pedigree rich in winning and a firm that has been doing it for as long as I can remember! The Overruled sow raised the Reserve Market Hog at the 2024 Indiana Stock Show. The Next Intention sow is a mate to bronze D2 barrow at 2023 Exposition for the Wischmeier family. We mated 17-9 to Alibi which was a no brainer decision. Expect real power, real muscle and lots of pipe in this litter. I can even see a boar coming out of this litter. A serious home run mating!
