Russian born Marc Chagall 1887 -1985 was one of the giants of 20th century art. His fantastic and imaginative imagery showed his joyous exuberance for life. In 1950, Chagall was commissioned to make two murals to decorate the auditorium of the newly opened Watergate Theatre in London. Chagall loved both the theatre and the circus and had designed stage sets and costumes for theatre, ballet and the opera. The lithograph offered here is an adaptation of one of the studies for the Watergate murals.
