PGMAG: Dr. Marina, great to have you on today's interview with Lady Anita.

DMB: It’s such a joy to be here, Lady Anita.

PGMAG: Please introduce yourself to our readers.

DMB: With pleasure. I’m an international business lawyer. Dual qualified. With over two decades of experience in high finance, advising big international firms, multinational corporations and tier one investment banks worldwide. After an early start with the United Nations Organisation in New York City, when I was still in law school. I’ve assisted multibillion-dollar companies and advised them on multiple figures deals. I’ve led complex international projects. Set up businesses and companies in multiple jurisdictions. Assisted Investment companies and asset management companies with billions in AUM. Advised CEOs and board of directors. As you know I’m also a master of energy, I’ve studied neuroscience, neuroplasticity, neuro-linguistic and energy for years, and I combine all these elements to support my clients and their businesses. Not only I combine the deep mastery of business laws with deep mastery of energy to support my clients. But also, I combine all that with real business experience. Being a lawyer, being a consultant, is not enough. Not anymore.

If you really want to make a difference in your clients’ businesses, if you want to give them effective support, being “just” a lawyer, being “just” a consultant, is not enough. You need to understand the business. You need to understand how the business works.

Offline and online. This is THE game changer. And I do that. Not only because I understand the business part of being a business lawyer and consultant. BUT because I am a business owner too. And that allows me to go the extra-mile, to get the perspective, the nuance that can make the difference. It’s about making the invisible visible, so you can protect your business and your assets. I’m also a Keynote Speaker and Global Brain Activation Strategist™. And I’ve had the pleasure of being featured as one of the Global Thought Leaders in the documentary movie "How Thoughts Become Things", sequel to the hit movie The Secret, alongside many big names from The Secret’s original cast. I’ve been featured in multiple media outlets and am sharing stages with world class speakers such as Sharon Lechter, Jack Canfield and Les Brown.

PGMAG: When you began your journey as a lawyer over 21 years ago, knowing how challenging it must have been to deliver the expectations of the people. What were your driving force behind your success story?

DMB: Wow! That was long-time ago and yet it feels like yesterday. First of all, I want to say that I’m very blessed and grateful to my parents for the way they have brought me up. See. I come from a family of lawyers by tradition on my father’s side. For us the law, the knowledge of the laws, has always been a means to improve other people’s lives. For us it’s always been about doing the right thing. No matter what. That’s what I was taught by my father, by my parents, since I was a little child. And I want to emphasise this because yes, it’s true there are a lot of lawyers out there that are sharks. But there are also a few of them who really want to make a difference. As I said before. Not all lawyers are equal.

I’ve always had two drivers in my life: intellectual curiosity and the burning desire to make a difference. Whatever I do. That’s what brought me to work on a project with the United Nations in New York City when I was still in law school.

More recently, those same drivers brought me to be one of the Thought Leaders in How Thoughts Become Things, the movie sequel to The Secret.

PGMAG: What were some of the changes you had to make in order to stay centred in helping more businesses to thrive in this globally challenged time (Covid-19)?

DMB: 2020 has brought challenges that many of us were not equipped to deal with. Levels of stress, anxiety and all sort of struggles went over the roof; and my guess is we’re not over all of that yet. That pushed me to come forward and incorporate my energy work in the way I assist my clients. It’s a very powerful combination, and the results are outstanding. It’s not just mindset I’m talking about. It’s beyond that. Mindset it is important, absolutely! And it’s becoming more and more important. And the more people struggle the more they get into mindset trainings. Which is the issue and the cure at once, but it’s more like a band aid than a long-lasting solution. Why? Because it doesn’t solve the problem. I know, it sounds like a paradox. And it is. In a way. Here’s the thing: why do we struggle so much with mindset work? Why are people becoming obsessed with that? That’s because they’re not connected to their inner power, to their true identity, to their true nature. Because if they were, they wouldn’t need to work so hard on mindset. Things would be easier, and straightforward. With my work I help my clients bridge and close that gap, I help them connect with their true energetic nature, to tap into their energetic DNA, so they don’t have to work hard on their mindset, they don’t have to struggle. They just need to tune into their true nature and be congruent to that, be coherent to that. And this is a very important piece of what I teach them: leverage that, their energetic identity, and implement it in their daily life. With practical steps. In a pragmatic way. In their business, in their personal life, in their relationships. Game changer.

PGMAG: In our recent conversation, we spoke about ‘mindfulness' and how this skill can help more leaders to create balance amidst the global crisis (Covid-19). Could you please touch more light on this subject?

DMB: Yes. That’s so true. Many of us are still on that hamster wheel and seem not to be able to get off. It can be counterintuitive, but the thing is they are still stuck in the doing, with the doing. And keep running around, all over the place to get things done. Most of the time in autopilot. I’m asking our readers: how many of you remember what you had for breakfast this morning? And what was the taste of it? Or what you’ve been thinking the whole day? We are BEINGS. But most of us have lost the connection with their “being” part and focus on their “doing” only. Now, the only way to break this nonsensical rat race, to get off that hamster wheel is to reconnect to your BEING, your true nature. As uncomfortable as that could be. And for many of us, it is uncomfortable and scary and stressful that’s why this global situation, this crisis is such a struggle. But here’s the thing: connecting to your BEING, to your true nature, is the only way out. One of the best ways to start becoming more mindful and connected to your being is via your breath. It’s very powerful and one of the main strategies I teach on day one. Find a quiet place, sit down comfortably, disconnect from all type of distractions, close your eyes, if you can, and focus on your breath. Don’t emphasise it. Just focus on your natural breath, the movement of your body when you breathe. Feel it. Be there. Be your breath. You can do it for few minutes. The longer the better, but just few minutes can make a difference.

PGMAG: As an overachiever who had experienced ‘burnout’, whilst delivery expectations in line of duty. What should leaders lookout for in pursuit of their goals in order not to become victims of health breakdown?

DMB: That happens to a lot of us. We stretch ourselves beyond the limits and then it bites us back and we need to deal with it. Mine wasn’t a burnout, it was my immune system that got shut. Why that happened? Because, although I was tuned into my intuition, I was not listening to it. I did not listen to my body. All of the signals I was getting. I ignored them all. So, the key is: don’t ignore the signals; don’t ignore the symptoms. Low energy, tiredness, lack of sleep, overwhelm are the obvious ones. Besides the obvious ones: there’s a reason if something doesn’t feel right or if you don’t enjoy anymore what you used to enjoy.

PGMAG: Please tell us about your business and how people can benefit from your services.

DMB: With pleasure. I use the powerful combination of business law and deep energy work, to help my clients protect their business and support their growth. Not only from a legal and structural business perspective, but also energetically. I don’t believe in the “one size fits all” type of solution. It’s an illusion. Because each business, like each individual, is unique. Therefore, what works for me doesn’t necessarily works for you, or for anybody else. This is because each one of us has their own unique energetic DNA – I’ve talked a bit about this throughout the interview. And your own energetic DNA is your business DNA too, because, energetically speaking, your business is an extension of you. I know this is a lot of information, but it’s crucial: "your business needs to be coherent to your energetic DNA to blossom and create abundance." This involves your business set-up, products, selling strategies, marketing strategies, protection strategies, teams and collaborators, customers and prospects, partners to name a few.

See, as entrepreneurs and business owners we’ve been taught – and we still are taught – that if something doesn’t work straightaway we’ve got to keep trying and trying and trying until it does. Because if it works for the gurus, if it works for your mentor, your teacher it’s got to work for you too.

Well, that couldn’t be further from the truth! Truth is: if something doesn’t work reasonably straightaway, it’s because of an energetic disconnection or misalignment. Part of what I do is clearing, or fixing if you like, that energetic misconnection or misalignment. Right to the point.

This is, in a nutshell, what I do for my clients: I set them up for success, in a structured and solid way, and I support their growth, the growth of their businesses, by combining my mastery of business laws and deep energy work.

PGMAG: What are the top three books that changed your life?

DMB: 1) Get the life you want by Dr Richard Bandler 2) The Magic by Rhonda Byrne 3) The MetaSecret by Mel Gill

PGMAG: What would you say to your younger self?

DMB: Great question! I would tell her: You are a beautiful being of light, keep shining your light.

PGMAG: Finally, what is your message for women who are struggling to find their voices in the marketplace?

DMB: There is an easier way. If you’re open to it. If you’re willing to embrace it. And get the right support because you’re not going to get there on your own, without the right guidance.

PGMAG: Thank you once again for your time. We wish you success on your journey.

DMB: Thank you for having me here, and blessings to you too.
