Show Your Pets You Care - Always There are very few cat and dog owners – and those of other pets – that do not form a strong bond of love, mutual respect and consideration with one another; therefore owners can be forgiven for referring to their pets as “children” or “fur babies, for example. Owners look after their pets, feed them, offer them a home, protection and love, and in return the animal shows their appreciation with a lick in the face, on your hand, a wagging tail and the like. This is possible only when owners look after their pets if, indeed, they are treated like family members. Therefore it goes beyond feeding and protecting them: appointments to the vet are scheduled, whether for those times that the pet is unwell, or for their annual or bi-annual check-up and booster shots, for surgeries such as neutering and spaying or for serious issues such as orthopedic procedures – or any other situation that demands the vet’s attention.
This also refers to making sure your animal is always safe in its home environment, or when you take them out for their daily walk – or those times that you are absent from home, as can happen when you go on holiday or a business trip. This can be a trying time for both owner and animal. Firstly, you want to know there is someone to look after the pet. Some owners get a house-sitter and pay them handsomely, but this is not everybody’s choice since it is quite a responsibility: not everyone gets along with another person’s pets and vice versa; therefore the answer, often, is to approach a specialized service such as, say, boarding kennels that are perfectly geared to make sure pets are safe, looked after, fed, given a place to sleep and rest – and some play time. These services understand the needs of pets that belong to absentee owners and will make sure the animal is given enough space to move around, to play with other pets if it is properly socialized – or kept apart from others if it is a nervous animal - or one that simply prefers to be on its own and receive one-on-one attention. No two animals are necessarily alike and therefore owners – and carers – need to know how to handle every pet when the owner is not around. Owners that know in advance that they will be out of town or on holiday, should always make sure – way before they leave on their trip – that their pet will be looked after until they return. Show your pets you care – always – by finding them a good place to stay during your absence so they are treasured, fed, given a home-away-from-home and that their well-being is not compromised. In most urban areas there are choices for owners, and certainly some that will stand out above others. Owners should always consider what services specific kennels and catteries have available
