Takoma Adventist Education Planning Committee September 9, 2015
The idea for "The New School Educational Complex" is not for the adults, it is for our children. My privilege to have been challenged to bring a vision to life through the efforts and support of a totally dedicated VP for Education, Keith Hallam and 6 incredibly capable and equally dedicated committee Chairs:
Karl Lawrence, Governance & Constituency Roo McKenzie, School Program Rodney Cartwright, Facilities Charlotte Conway, Finance Evelyn Sullivan, Child Care Center (s) Richard Castillo, Communication/Marketing Erwin Mack, JNA Facilities
100's of hours of study have been given by no less than 43 administrators, teachers, parents, board members, lay people and consultants from both schools, serving in 7 sub-committees since Feb, 2015.
Goal - "To create an innovative model of Adventist education that provides a holistic learning experience, nurtures faith, develops character and promotes academic excellence from Pre K through 12th grade."
A Child Care Center fully designed to serve 80 children or more, being separate from pre K - 12.
Recognition will be given to the historic contributions made by those who staffed both schools for the 100 or more years of existence.
A once in a lifetime opportunity to design a "New School Educational Complex".
No other SDA school that comes to mind has had such an incredible financial start.
We have a unique opportunity to set an example throughout North America on how to design a school.
The time to do so is NOW! It can be done. Be of good courage, let's get started!
