Locals in Stockbridge found copies of the adverts – which come from two companies called XXX Escorts UK and Escort Deck – advertising girls such as 'Naughty Nat' and 'Easy Lizzy' on Friday morning last week.

THe posters have since been removed but it is not sure who by.

Adverts placed along the Birdham Road and near the local Co-op also advertised for jobs for "discreet" work for "beautful babes wanting to earn an extra buck."

One resident, May Seeder, has lived in St George's Drive for the past 25 years and said she has never seen anything like it.

"I was walking with my granddaughter Lillian and she asked me about it.

"I was utterly horrified and I didn't

know what to say. I took it down so others wouldn't have to see it and put it in the bin, but I saw a couple more which I steered well clear from.

"THese sorts of adverts should be banned, they are selling sex on our streets.

"You can't help but think they don't know the area at all well.

"It really is not like that around here. It is very quiet and we don't ever have any trouble after dark really.

"It is a really lovely part of the world to live in and I do not want it spoiled by some seedy sex business rocking up."

THe adverts – which the Chichester Post is choosing not to reprint – claims to have "hundreds" of girls working the local area.

It states: "Our Chichester escorts make sure they do anything you please, and we will make sure to find you the ideal alluring escort that will match any and all of your specific preferences.

"We are also hiring, so if you are a beauty wanting some extra bang for your buck, get in touch."

GOODWOOD Racecourse's infamous THree Friday Nights got off to a loud start last weekend – as reknowned DJ, Sister Bliss kicked off a month of partying.

Crowds enjoyed a day filled with sunshine and racing before a makeshift dancefloor welcomed partygoers late into the evening.

Together with iconic frontman Maxi Jazz and producer Rollo Armstrong (brother of Dido), Sister Bliss formed Faithless – one of the most successful electronic acts with a career spanning 17 years, that included seven albums (two at number one), and six top ten singles including the massive club anthem 'Insomnia', 'God is a DJ' and 'We Come 1'.

To date, Faithless has sold in excess of 15 million records worldwide and have played live to millions across the world – so the appearance was something of abig deal for fans of the internationally reknowned act.

Reveller Adam Lockyart said: "I saw them play in Ibiza and they did not disappoint at Goodwood.

"Having something like this on the doorstep is pretty special actually.

"I've got mates from London who have come down just for this and they can't believe that they are playing in Chichester, which they like to think of as a sleepy seaside city.

CHEAP ‘teething bracelets’ made of amber pose a serious risk to babies and toddlers warn Trading Standards.

THe amber products are being sold as necklaces, bracelets and anklets, often with claims of calming and soothing teething children.

West Sussex Trading Standards officers tested a teething bracelet and found the items were a choking hazard, the elastic on all the items broke easily and the individual amber beads also pose a choking hazard Peter Aston, Trading Standards Team Manager, said: “THrough our testing we found that these items

could be a real choking hazard because they could potentially be caught in a child’s throat.

“We are in the process of approaching the main internet retailers to remove these items from sale as they are incredibly unsafe for young children.”

Two sellers in West Sussex are being investigated for their supply.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a fire involving an area of gorse in Bracklesham over the weekend.

Retained crews were dispatched from East Wittering at 11pm and it was extinguished using a hose-reel.

Toddlers 'are at risk' from cheap teething bracelets

` Gorse fire stopped

A MAN who absconded from Ford Prison and feared to be in Chichester has been found.

Stuart Wort, 45, was arrested on May 21 after handing himself in to a local police station in Southampton.

He had absconded on May 19.

Wort was in jail for burglary and had a sentence of three years and eight months.

He has since had an additional four weeks added to his sentence for being unlawfully at large following a court appearance on May 23.

THe aim of the new market is to increase footfall into the city centre because others have been declining in their location.

Another consultation will take place in six months time to monitor progress, and the council say they will also be monitoring the use of the city's car parks during this time.

Specialist market operators were invited to submit proposals for the setting up and running of the market and were interviewed by the council and the BID. THe operator chosen for the trial precinct market is Ritagate Limited who have also been selected to operate the Saturday market from the Cattle Market

car park, which will continue to run weekly, as well as the Sunday car boot sale from the same site.

Chairman of Chichester BID, Andrew Finnamore said: "We are supportive of imaginative ways to enhance the offer that our city provides.

"We look forward to working in partnership with the council on this project."

Ritagate Ltd has now applied for a Street Trading Consent which will include detailed information about how the precinct market will be run.

Race against time for Lavant House girls to find new school f The school will close in summer

"distinct lack" of alterative options for their children now the prestigious private school is shutting its doors for the final time this September.

One, who did not want to be named, raged, "THe fact of the matter is, our children have come to expect a certain standard of education that, quite frankly, there is a distinct lack of in the city – apart from Lavant House.

"It was not just a school – it was a community.

"Our girls learnt in small class sizes, with dedicated teachers and not only learned a well-rounded curriculum but they learnt life skills too.

"Now we are facing a future of sending our children to state schools which they are not used to – the bigger class sizes, the different way they are run and the mixed sexes.

"It is going to be hard to get their heads around this and there is going to be a transition period – time we are going to

lose with them bettering their education."

THe mum – who currently has two girls at the school – said she is most concerned for her eldest girl.

"Next year is her GCSE year so all we can do is hope it doesn't have too much of an impact.

"Great Ballard has told us it is expecting to take on some of the Lavant girls and we are looking at other options such as Bishop Luffa. It is a case of doing a lot of research.

"I just wish Lavant had told us parents there were problems sooner, because maybe we could have started our fundraising efforts sooner.

"We were told we needed to raise £1million and that we had around two weeks to raise this amount.

"We gave it a fair crack and managed to raise more than £30,000, which is impressive, but £1million was too much of a hurdle, even for us.

"Had we been given more notice, I really think we could have made a difference.

"Unfortunately now it is a case of damage limitation and getting our girls the best standard of education we can find within a matter of weeks really."

Lavant House trustees announced last month they were closing the school because of falling pupil numbers and problems with finances after a 64-year history.

It will shut for good at the end of the summer term.

` Safeguarding vulnerable adults topic of meeting A SELECT committee meeting will take place today (Friday) to look at whether vulnerable people are being protected by those who should be looking after them.

THe work of West Sussex Safeguarding Adults Board over the past year will be scrutinised and the West Sussex Health and Adult Social Care Select Committee (HASC) will consider the board’s annual report.

Safeguarding boards are organisations which bring together councils, NHS, and police, to oversee protection for vulnerable people.

Select committee members will decide whether sufficient action is being taken to ensure that adults are being protected from abuse and neglect and consider whether any issues arising from the annual report require any further scrutiny.

Chairman of the committee, Bryan Turner said: “THe work of is incredibly important. People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and to receive good care whether at home, in hospital or in care homes or other establishments. It is important we scrutinise the board’s work to make sure that sufficient action is being taken to ensure that adults in West Sussex are being protected from abuse and neglect.”

THe meeting will also receive a report about how the council has performed over the past year.

THe Rt. Rev. George Bell was Bishop of Chichester from 1929 until his death in 1958.

He was well-known for championing the people of Germany during World War Two and made a speech in the House of Lords in 1944 opposing Churchill's policy of saturation bombing.

Last year, a woman stepped forward claiming she had been sexually abused by the Bishop from the age of five and said she wanted to speak out about the "awful" way he treated her after several high-profile figures defended him saying: "He might have been a hero but heroes don't always do good things."

THe Church settled a civil claim in connection with the allegations and has formally apoloigised to her.

However, campaigners have voiced their disgust at the way the investigation has been held, claiming the Church should release the evidence it holds, claiming it is unfair Bishop Bell's reputation has been "tarnished in the worst way possible" with no right of reply for him.

PEOPLE are being encoraged to have their say about the future of walking and cycling across West Sussex through a public consultation.

West Sussex County Council’s draft Walking and Cycling Strategy sets out a vision for promoting and enabling walking and cycling.

THe public consultation is live and runs until Wednesday, June 22.

THe aims are to ensure that cycling and walking are recognised as important travel modes, to reduce the number of cyclists and pedestrians

killed or seriously injured each year and to reduce congestion.

It also includes a list of over 350 potential walking and cycling improvements suggested by stakeholders and community groups earlier this year.

John O’Brien, the council's cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We want to know what everyone thinks, so please take the opportunity to comment and respond.”

Flower power leaves the city looking blooming CHICHESTER Cathedral welcomed "hundreds" through the doors last weekend as the annual Festival of Flowers took place.

From June 2 to June 4, visitors flocked to the city hub to take in the delightful and colourful blooms on display for the show, which takes place annually.

THe event was hosted by the Chichester Cathedral Restoration and Development Trust and welcomes "visitors from all over the world" who come to experience what has been called the "gold standard" of flower festivals.

More than 80 stunning arrangements adorned the walls and pews all following the theme of the festivals' title: 'THe Artist's Palette' and featured artists from Sussex and beyond.

Visitor Kathy Smeethe said: "It is stunning, and lovely to see so much colour all in one beautiful setting all at once."

THe council is looking at three different funding opportunities and has applied for grants from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and will also ask for funding from West Sussex County Council.

A bid has also been submitted to the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) as part of the £1.82billion which is available nationally to support local economic growth.

Councillor Tony Dignum is the leader of Chichester District Council.

He added: "We are up against severe competition. If the LEP bid fails we will have to think about how we can go forward.

"We must suit our appetite to the supply of necessary funds.

"THe masterplan defines the area and what we want to do here.

"We have to negotiate with the people whose facilities we want to move – Stagecoach, Royal Mail and the Police.

"We have to be flexible. If everything came out roses and we get the bids agreed and we get the stakeholders on board, this is the area we would like to be the Southern Gateway. THis is the starter.

"We have got to be willing to be flexible if needs be.

"We do want a masterplan that does produce more housing and more employment opportunities and more leisure opportunities."

Plans to regenerate the area were first announced back in 2001 as it was felt there could be better use of the southern approach to the city.

However, the opportunities did not progress following the economic downturn and the costs of relocating existing users and development costs associated with some of the sites.

THe district council will lead the project as one of the major landowners in the area.

It is predicted that the masterplan will be finished by December.

It will then need final approval by the council.

THe government will announce whether or not the bids have been successful in the autumn statement in November.

` Businesses are offered help SMALL and medium businesses wanting financial assistance to expand and to create new jobs can now apply for funding from the £2.4 million Business Growth Grants Programme.

THe programme is run by West Sussex County Council on behalf of Coast to Capital Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and can provide grants of £15,000 to £100,000 – up to 40% of a total project cost.

THe programme is open to small and medium businesses within the Coast to Capital region: West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Lewes, Croydon, Epsom and Ewell, Reigate and Banstead, Mole Valley and Tandridge.

Leader of West Sussex County Council Louise Goldsmith said: “We know that many businesses still have problems accessing funding to help them develop as a business and create more jobs, all of which is important for our local economy.

“THanks to this funding from Coast to Capital we are able to offer grants to businesses to bridge that gap and encourage job creation and growth across the Coast to Capital region.”

Jonathan Sharrock, Chief Executive at Coast to Capital LEP, said: “THis is a great opportunity for small and medium businesses in the region who are looking to grow their business and create jobs but are not finding it easy to source the finance required to get an extra cash boost.”

Royal Navy to patrol Sussex coasts after migrant invasion at Harbour

Bosses fear secluded ports and beaches – such as Chichester Harbour and Witterings beaches – could become "key crossing hotspots" for people-smuggling gangs and even ISIS terrorists.

Border Force officials have called on central government for help as they have just three vessels to patrol all 7,700 miles

of UK coastline – while Sussex Police has no vessels to patrol the county coasts.

THe Sunday Times reported this weekend that military planners are proposing to offer several offshore raiding crafts which will be manned by servicemen and women from the Navy and the Royal Marines.

THe boats – which are armoured – can reach speeds of 45mph and have, in the past, been used for hunting drug smugglers on water.

THe boats are set up with machine guns and grenade launcher pads but it is believed these facilities will be removed from the vessels prior to them being used

for the migrant crisis.

It comes just two weeks after Chichester Police arrested a murder suspect who had sailed a yacht with 17 Albanians aboard into Chichester Marina.

Officers said they feared this could be the start and asked locals to be vigilant if they spot anything suspicious on waters around the Chichester, Selsey and Witterings in the future.

A senior Whitehall official continued that the Home Office wants to "steer away" from big "destroyer" boats patrolling waters – instead opting for small and fast vessels to deal with any problems.

Rob Wainwright, director of Europol said Sussex was a "hotspot" for terrorists.

"Smuggling hotspots may emerge in areas with weak law enforcement controls or no rule of law as migrant smugglers rely on inadequate border controls and the corruption of border guards, police patrols or navy officers to facilitate their activities.

"Migrant smuggling networks have proven flexible and resilient, adapting to law enforcement action by quickly changing the routes used to smuggle migrants."

'We need to show thanks to our dedicated war heroes'

Councillor Bruce Finch, cabinet member for support services at Chichester District Council, who is one who dedicated his life to service said many do not realise just how much our service men and women give to the cause, and he wants the city to be the biggest and best in showing our thanks.

He has said he hopes more people in the community show their support for those serving in the forces by supporting Armed Forces Day. Armed Forces Day is a ntional event, which this year is taking place on Saturday, June 25.

Events are due to take place up and down the country.

Cllr. Finch said: “It is timely to recognise the pivotal role our armed forces play in promoting freedom and defending our democracy and way of life here in the UK and in our overseas territories.

“All our armed forces play a vital role in the UK, ranging from helping in civil emergencies, supporting

our great national events and promoting youth training through cadet forces. "“THe men and women of our armed forces and their families give so much to their country.

“We want our servicemen and women to know how much we value the contribution they make to our society.”

Cllr. Finch said it was important that Chichester "stepped up to the plate" in the wake of news that Bognor Regis has cancelled their celebrations for the formerly hugely popular event, which included bands, a parade and a flying display.

David Hewings from the Bognor Regis branch of the RAF Association, which normally organises the event said they had become "victims of their own success" because locals had all said 2015's event was the biggest and best yet.

Unfortunately, Mr. Hewings said last year's extravaganza had left them all exhausted as veterans.

He said hopefully a new management team can be found to bring the event back in 2017.

Cllr. Finch said Chichester District Council is looking forward to showing its support.

“As a council we have pledged to make sure that armed forces personnel and their families in the Chichester

district have easy access to support from their local council, by signing the Armed Forces Covenant," he said.

“THis covenant is particularly of value to our local armed forces personnel, many of whom are based at the Royal Artillery’s Baker Barracks in THorney Island, and those who have left the forces to resettle locally.

Cllr. Finch said there are many events people can take part in on Armed Forces Day and he is encouraging people to step up.

“THis is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up our armed forces community.

THis includes serving troops, service families, veterans and cadets.

"In Chichester we have a proud tradition of supporting our armed forces and many veterans from all three services have made their homes here.

Museum volunteers get royal seal of approval with MBE from Queen

By Sian Hewitt sian.hewitt@sussexpost.co.uk 01243 908506 A DEDICATED group of 600 volunteers have been awarded a prestigious MBE by the Queen in thanks for their service.

THe giving team at the Weald and Downland Museum was one of 193 outstanding volunteering groups that have been honoured as recipients of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service – the highest honour a volunteering group can achieve in the UK. Her Majesty will send a certificate and an exclusive commemorative crystal, presented by Her Majesty's representative in West Sussex, Mrs Susan Pyper, the LordLieutenant, at a special ceremony arranged by the Lieutenancy office later this summer.

It has an equivalent status for voluntary groups as the MBE has for individuals.

THe Museum said: “Our remarkable band of 600 volunteers are our lifeblood – without them we simply could not exist as the inspirational and popular visitor attraction that we are today. Volunteers are an integral part of the team that runs the museum and our excellence is the product of their hard work.

“Volunteers engage in all manner of tasks, from interpretation to maintenance, gardening to guided tours, supporting the museum’s theme of excellence in all that we do. Our Designated Collection of 50 rescued vernacular buildings, 15,000 artefacts and 40acre downland site benefits the community at large, who come from near and far, including 14,000 children who visit from over

300 schools in West Sussex and adjoining counties.”

THere were only four winners in West Sussex, the others were the Arundel Museum Society Volunteers, the Community Minibus Association for West Sussex and the Ferring Conservation Group.

Charlie THwaites, Visitor & Volunteer Services Manager and Vic Constable, a volunteer, attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace on May 19, where they met the Queen and other winners of this year’s award.

Martin Purslow, CEO of the Weald & Downland Open Air Museum, added: “I am immensely proud of this achievement for our 600-strong band of volunteers. I recently joined the Museum as CEO, and the volunteers’ invaluable contribution to the success of our organisation has been evident from day one. THis award is a testament to their hard work and dedication to engaging the visiting public and wider community in the museum’s collection of rescued buildings.”

"I think it is fair to say that I like a bit of variety and I really like being out and about.

"And people are genuinely always pleased to see me, which is very nice indeed.

"We endeavour make sure that we all keep an eye on anybody be they elderly or vulnerable.”

Firefighters fan flames of children who have a real burning ambition WEST SUSSEX Fire and Rescue have been out and about training up the next generation of heroes this week.

As part of Child Safety Week – firefighters from Chichester Station have visited an array of schools to teach youngsters about fire safety around the home as well as showing them the equipment they work with on a daily basis from hoses to fire engines.

On Monday, crews paid at visit to St Anthony's School in the city centre where the children checked out how heavy fire extinguishers are, tried on the anti-smoke masks and even had a go at spraying super strong water from one of the hoses.

A spokesman for the crew said: "A great day was had by all, with children and crews alike."

Workshop to help stop the diabetes timebomb PEOPLE who are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes are being invited to a workshop to learn more about how they can prevent the disease.

Chichester Wellbeing is running workshops for anyone who wants to find out more about it or how to prevent it developing.

Doctors are recommending the workshops to people who have family members with Type 2 diabetes or who are at risk of developing it to learn more about losing weight and eating healthily.

Sue Crabtree runs the workshops. She said: “We all know that exercise and healthy eating is good for us but it’s knowing what to change and having the ability to change.

“THis is to motivate people and explain the risks and what happens if you develop Type 2 diabetes.

“It’s about getting people to want to change and take responsibility for their own health.

“It’s also about recognising where you need to make changes.People say losing weight is easy – it’s not when life gets in the way."

THe workshops take place regularly throughout the year.

"If you have diabetes or are at risk of getting it the information with food is very confusing THis is about losing weight slowly and maintaining it.

"One of our clients was a 43-year-old lady who was at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

"She was very tired and had a lot of side effects and was struggling with her weight.

She lost just over two stone through exercise and healthy eating.

"It's all about a little bit of everything in moderation and getting people back in

THe Force is on the lookout for Special Constables, who can support the Chichester District and other key areas in the county.

Sussex Police has advertised the volunteering post on its website, with recruitment open until this Sunday, June 12.

As volunteer police officers, special constables have full police powers,

uniform, and equipment and work alongside full-time officers and PCSOs to serve the people of Sussex.

THe appeal states: "You already have a career you love – and now you want a challenge in your spare time. If you can commit to 16 hours a month, bring integrity and commonsense to everything you do and stay calm under pressure, we want to hear from you.

"Volunteers for the Special Constabulary come from all walks of life.

CARNIVAL time is here again in Bognor Regis.

THe annual parade of floats and walking entries will take to the streets tomorrow afternoon in all their colourful creativity based on the theme of toys and games.

THose taking part want to see the pavements lined with enthusiastic spectators enjoying themselves.

Bands, majorettes and pom pom troupes will add to the lively atmosphere by providing plenty of noise to

get everyone in the carnival mood.

THe organisers at Bognor Regis Carnival Association have built on last year's initial event to make this a bigger, better and brighter occasion for all the family to enjoy during the parade and afterwards with the entertainment.

of y r o t s i h al v i n r a the c Events have taken place throughout the town’s history, in the 1870s it was known as a Regatta, with events focused on the beach and pier. Eventually a town Carnival was arranged and it would seem that the first major recorded event was held in 1936 from 11th to 18th July and covered a full week with a wide range of events taking place.

THe first event was organised by a Carnival Trust and commenced with the crowning of the Carnival Queen, Miss Barbara Morrison – her maids of honour were Miss D. Waight, Miss H. Holloway, Miss D Cook and Miss A. Outen. THis procession was organised through the town from the East Car Park (now Butlin’s) along the seafront to the West End Car Park.

THe range of events was reported in a programme and showed the daily activities, including on the Sunday, the military bands that played and local uniformed bodies attended. Monday was specifically children’s day: folk dancing, mini battle at sea; bathing belle’s parade and confetti battle on pier (interesting). THe week followed with Tuesday: baby show, which included ‘special difficulty class for delicate babies’, comic football and pushball, community singing, carnival ball with ‘special nonstop dancing,’ and fancy Dress. Wednesday brought the gymkhana, a gigantic motor treasure hunt and another grand carnival procession, followed by fireworks.

THursday was an event-packed evening. Friday ‘Grand Pageant of Living Bridge (this appears to be a live card game). Apart from these main events there were lots of other things going on around the town, for example the world famous Lindberg brothers performing the Death Dive in Flames on an 80 feet dive into 5 1/1 feet of water.

Sylvia Endacott time when families stayed around the area for the summer, long before trips abroad for holidays. THere could be fewer events organised; hence it would be a real focus activity which was inclusive to many local organisations. Whilst an interesting and well attended event, there seems to be little recorded over the ensuing years.

Next we see that in 1966 the Carnival Queen was Miss Maureen Homes. THere was also, for the first time at carnival, a young princess, Trudy Tullett. Each local school was invited to select an entry between the ages of nine and 15 – nine entries were received.

THe events which started this year included the Pagham Yacht Club Carnival Race, Rolls Royce Rally and Concourse of Elegance on the Esplanade; On Monday there was a Teenage Dance at the Shoreline Club. THe Camera Clubs exhibition ran all week, ending on Saturday with “What you all waiting for?” A mammoth Carnival Procession ending with a barbecue on the beach where two whole oxen were roasted.

In 1970 the event was run by the Lions Club of Bognor Regis. Miss Janet Grimsey was the Carnival Queen and the event was still running for a week, but many of the events were now taking place at Hampshire Avenue Recreation Ground. Various organisations have been involved such as in 1980 the event was down to a one day event and the Carnival Queen was Vanessa Ide, and by 1986 the Bognor Regis and District Round Table organised the event in 1987 it was the turn of the Lions Club of Bognor Regis.

In recent years various groups including the Town Council have organised this event. If you have any further information or history of town carnivals do please let us know.

The burger joint on a roll Fun surroundings, yummy food and friendly waitresses with attention to detail – what more could you possibly want?

IT HAS the reputation for serving "Chichester's best burgers" – but after my dining experience this week I would suggest they could go as far as to cast that net a little wider.

Faultless from start to finish, the Real Burger Kitchen delievered on every level – with a clean and fun setting, comfy seating, lovely staff and even better food.

THe fresh food does not even break the bank either making this the perfect midweek treat and suitable for all, from family meals to a fun date.

I took my partner along who claims to be something of a burger connoisseur, having been to many burger joints in his time, but even he was impressed with the wide and varied menu on offer.

Starters include chicken wings, garlic breads and calamari but, excited to see a range of tasty looking burgers brought out to the table next to us, we decided to go straight for the main event.

THe hardest job we had was picking a burger – because there are so many that sound delicious.

I opted for the chargrilled chicken and salad in a brioche bun and opted to add chillies, jalapenos and guacamole as well as a serving of sweet potato fries while my other half went for a 'daily special' – the BBQ Ranch Burger

which was offered to celebrate National BBQ Week 2016.

THis featured grilled BBQ chicken breast which was topped with melted, spicy, spitfire cheese and crunchy coleslaw served with fries.

I was not disappointed – the sweet potato fries were crispy and perfectly cooked, no soggy bottoms here and the burger was delicious.

It felt like we were in an American diner, the portions were hugely generous and deliciously tasty – so much so that I felt bad about leaving half of my bun on the plate as I was so full.

My partner devoured his beast of a burger, and said it was the tastiest he had had in a long time – coming in at just £10.25 for the special – it was an absolute bargain.

But it is not all beef and chicken burgers at this place – think hot dogs and lamb and fish options as well as a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options, so no diner is missing out. At the Real Burger Kitchen they really have all bases covered.

Not only is the food scrumptious, but all of the meat the talented chefs use, is locally sourced from Earleys of Barnham – and it is these small touches that make the difference.

Now, we were both massively full, but we felt we should try out the tempting desserts purely for the sake of reviewing. Just thinking of everyone else.

And I am so glad we did.

As a child I was hooked on banana splits, so it brought memories flooding back when I saw that as an option on the menu.

It was like being transported back to being five-years-old again when it was promptly brought out. Strawberry, vanilla and chocolate ice cream served with lashings of whipped cream and a perfectly placed cherry on the top with warm chocolate sauce expertly drizzled all over.

It was the perfect end to the perfect meal.

My other half opted for an old favourite too – an ice cream float.

Do you remember how excited you would get when you were allowed one of these fizzy treats as a child? He opted for a Dr Pepper and vanilla combo – which came out fizzing and bubbling to perfection.

Steering away from the food – which admittedly is rather hard to do purely because of the standard – this restaurant has it all and the owners should be very proud of what they

FRENCH, Italian and Spanish wines feature this week and I begin with a French Dry White which happens to be the only Sauvignon Blanc produced in the Burgundy region.

I recommend the Saint-Bris Sauvignon Blanc currently on offer at M&S for a bargain price of just £5 with a delightful citrus and tangy flavour. THis wine, which is grown in the same limestone-rich soils as Chablis, is a highly distinctive unoaked white.

If you want to try some fine Italian reds Tesco’s finest Barolo has complexity and depth and is worth the £13 price, but, if you want a Barolo with violet spice and vanilla nuances, pop over to Sainsbury's to procure the Serre Alte Barolo Reserva 2005 – a veritable gem priced down to £20.

Baked White Chocolate Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis INGREDIENTS For the base 2oz (50g) butter 1oz (25g) dark chocolate 5oz (150g) digestive biscuits, crushed For the filling 10oz (300g) white chocolate, broken into pieces 14oz (400g) full fat cream cheese 150 ml (¼ pint) soured cream 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract To serve About 225g (8oz) fresh strawberries or raspberries For the Raspberry Coulis 250g raspberries 1tbsp icing sugar 1/2 lemon juice only or to taste

PREPARATION & QUANTITY THis delectable delight is perfect for the summer months to surprise guests, or even keep all to yourself!

A tasty, but uncomplicated dish – you'll find yourself having to share this recipe over and over again.

Start by pre-heating your oven to 160°C/Gas 3/Fan 140°C. You will need to grease and line the base of a cake tin, ideally one around 8 inches or 20cm deep with non-stick paper or butter.

THen melt butter and your dark chocolate in a small saucepan over a low heat trying, along the way, to not scoff too much of the chocolate as you go!

What better way to enjoy lunch than sat in the sunshine in the Nag's Head Chichester?

My companion and I felt summer had finally arrived as we were shown to a delightfully sunny spot by a well tended garden, resplendent with blooms and overflowing with a variety of fragrant herbs just waiting to be picked and added to the culinary offerings!

We were served by the very friendly and accommodating Steve, who could not have been more helpful or attentive.

THe restaurant is mostly known for its hugely popular carvery but it isn't all roast beef or turkey – the menu boasts an extensive choice of traditional British dishes alongside Mediterranean and Asian influenced cuisine from THai Green Curry to Chilli Con Carne, Moules Marinière, and Chinese Crispy Chilli Beef to name a few.

I opted for the Classic Prawn Cocktail from the regular menu and the vegetarian special, a roasted red pepper dish.

Now I am not a vegetarian but it sounded like a summery dish, that it would be a perfect accompaniment to basking in the sun.

My companion, a sworn carnivore, opted for the crispy beef to start, followed by the ribs.

Steve told us that the ribs come up as a very large portion and that it might be struggle to get through them, but my companion was

well up for the challenge, and decided to go ahead with his meaty choices regardless.

My prawn cocktail arrived beautifully presented as a generous roundel of succulent prawns in a luscious baby pink Marie Rose sauce, nestled on a bed of fresh salad leaves and tomatoes, accompanied by brown bread and a pot of creamy butter. It was a classic dish done well.

My companion was equally delighted with his pile of crispy chilli beef – delicate tender strips of beef in a crunchy, light batter coating with a hint of chilli sauce, served with a salad garnish.

Enjoyable though our starters were, we were glad to have left room for the gastronomic delight that was the main course.

My vegetarian dish was so delicious that even I could have been converted to becoming a non meat-eater.

THe dish is described as ‘roasted red pepper, courgette and warm new potato salad, served with halloumi chips.’ THe roasted pepper, chargrilled and sweet was served on a bed of rocket, fresh tomato, red onion, and honey and mustard dressing, which complemented it perfectly.

I had never had halloumi chips before, and the strips of cheese coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried, absolutely did not disappoint.

THey were exquisite and will definitely be a dish I will try out on with the barbecue this summer.

My fellow diners’ Barbeque Glazed Pork Ribs arrived as promised, a huge plate of glossy brown ribs doused in a deep rich sweet smoky barbecue sauce and served on a bed of fresh salad leaves with a piquant dressing, and a side of homemade fat chunky chips, and what he described as the ‘best coleslaw’ he had tasted in a very long time.

He made a brave attempt at eating all the ribs but was defeated. Definitely no complaints about the portion sizes at the Nag's Head!

We skipped the homemade dessert on this occasion, but that will be an excuse to return in the very near future – as if we needed one.

We dined al fresco, but whilst there we had a look around the interior of the restaurant. It has recently undergone some refurbishment and the result is a very light and welcoming venue, simple but stylishly rustic.

THe owners Dave and Teresa West have been there for 26 years, and offer ten en suite rooms for bed and breakfast as well as the restaurant and bar, with Full English Breakfast. At the front of the restaurant is the traditional pub style bar, which leads to the carvery and opens up to the restaurant.

VOLUNTEERS’ Week is an annual event which takes place at the start of June. It celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers of course for many of the organisations that support local groups in Arun volunteers are essential.

However, I have heard people moan about such “free labour” – in the current climate of reduced funding, many organisations are thinking about the potential for volunteers to help meet the gap between demand and capacity to deliver.

So, is it the way we talk about the issue that matters?

When discussing volunteers performing roles that might previously have been done by paid staff, people largely talk about job "substitution". THis term suggests that volunteers are a substitute for paid staff.

THe reality is that it is extremely rare for one volunteer to take on the entirety of one employee's work. THe language also suggests volunteering and paid work are the same, with only the salary defining the difference.

Yet volunteering is different from paid work; that's why more than 20 million people do it every year in the UK. As some say, volunteering is not work but serious leisure.

Job replacement is different. Take, for example, a charity providing support to housebound clients which is handed a significant funding cut.

THe charity's managers consider the difficult but inevitable option of laying-off paid staff and start to explore how services can be delivered with fewer paid staff and more volunteers. To whom does that charity have the greatest obligation: its employees whose work could be reallocated among volunteers, or its clients who rely on its services?

THe answer should be clear – its clients. THe staff are not being made redundant so that volunteers can take over.

THey're being made redundant regardless. So long as the charity goes about it properly, why shouldn't it deliver through volunteers if it can't afford to employ everyone it once did?

As long as volunteers are not exploited, we must acknowledge that involving more of them has the potential to bring many benefits, including widening participation and improving services if, and only if, there is appropriate investment in their management. And of course a major return on there own happiness. Giving back has powerful results.

THe ideal model, regardless of the financial climate, must be that of taking a mixed approach, with paid staff and volunteers working together.

Faced with two undesirable redundancy situations: letting all staff go and closing a service, or retaining a skeleton staff and increasing the number of volunteers – we would advocate the latter every time.

IT seems everywhere you turn there’s a news story or a discussion about whether we should be ‘in’ or ‘out’ of the EU. As the time to vote draws nearer, I thought it would be interesting to take a look at how the outcome may affect Chichester’s property market.

Journalists, who are generally London-based, seem to focus on the impact of things in London.

Whilst it may be true that a ‘Brexit’ would see demand for high-end property drop in London, as its standing in the world drops, is that likely to impact us down here on the south coast?

At the moment things seem similar to the run-up to last year’s general election; with a level of uncertainty creating a reluctance towards moving home. THis has led to there being a 7% reduction in the number of properties available to buy in Chichester compared to a year ago (297 now vs 321 last May).

It seems clear that the ‘in’ camp are scaremongering homeowners by suggesting house prices will drop if we leave the EU (George Osborne recently spoke of house price drops of 18%).

Meanwhile, the ‘out’ camp are using this as ammunition towards the younger ‘generation rent’, suggesting an EU exit is an opportunity towards a new era of more affordable housing.

A slightly more in-depth report

Dear Editor THIS month, the Kincora Inquiry at Banbridge Courthouse, Northern Ireland, is investigating allegations that "State Agencies" provided security protection to known paedophiles.

In 1974, former Army Intelligence Officer Colin Wallace – who lives in Arundel – discovered sexual abuse was taking place at the Kincora Boys Home and brought it to the attention of his superiors.

Nothing was done.

In 1981, seven years later, three senior care workers working at Kincora were jailed

actually suggested house prices would rise 8.8% in two years if we remain in the EU… and they’d still rise 8.4% if we left the EU. So not much difference there.

Commentators say an exit would lead to an increase in interest rates (the same commentators who’ve been saying a rise is coming for years now I presume…), which would increase mortgage costs and potentially stymie house prices.

Although with 40.5% of properties in Chichester being mortgage free (compared to 31% nationally), I think Chichester would weather this storm better than most.

In contrast, there could in fact be a short-term immigration surge before the borders are tightened up, which could lead to a rise in prices and rents. Longerterm the opposite may be true as net immigration eases. Might a shortage of cheaper skilled labour from abroad lead to more expensive new-build properties?

At this stage it is all pure guesswork and you’ll need to take a view on whose guesses are more credible. I believe property will continue to rise in value over the long-term due to the fundamental shortage of homes.

THere could even be some property bargains to be had later this year!

I agree with comments made by Cllr Oppler, that there will be an increase in fly-tipping as a result of the above quoted proposals (Bognor Regis Post June 3, 2106) I have read two articles produced by WSCC regarding the changes proposed. In one article they posed the question, “Will fly-tipping increase?” Part of the answer was, “Evidence from other County Councils who have made similar changes to those we are proposing show that there has not been an increase in fly-tipping as a result".

In the second article it poses the question, “Would fly-tipping increase if these proposals were implemented?” Part of the answer was, “No. THere’s no evidence to show that West Sussex residents will resort to fly-tipping – which is a criminal offence and blights local areas – if they cannot use a recycling centre for whatever reason. People who are prepared to travel to a recycling centre are unlikely to even consider fly-tipping, let alone do it.”

On May 20, I sent an email to Cllr Barling and Waste Services Contracts at WSCC pointing out that their answers to those questions may be incorrect. I referred them to a paper published by Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and Government Statistical Service dated October 20, 2015.

It states, “Local authorities dealt with 900 thousand incidents of fly-tipping in 2014/15, an increase of 5.6 per cent since 2013/14 with nearly two thirds of fly-tips involving household waste.

THe trend in incidents of fly-tipping had been downward until 2013/14 when there was an increase to 852 thousand incidents.

THe number of fly-tipping incidents increased again in 2014/15 to 900 thousand incidents.

THe estimated cost of clearance of fly-tipping to local authorities in England in 2014/15 was nearly £50 million, an 11 per cent increase on 2013/14 In my email I asked Cllr Barling and Waste Services Contracts to justifly their claims that fly-tipping has not increased and will not increase if they introduce the changes when Central Government figures supplied by local authorites state that flytipping has increased. To date I have had no reply from either.

Clubs and societies AVIATION enthusiasts in Bognor Regis and Chichester can hear all about a project to return a unique aeroplane to the UKs sky.

Alan Pickford will be telling Air ACES members and guests about the restoration of the de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito by the charity, the People's Mosquito.

THe de Havilland Mosquito was one of the finest all-round aircraft of the Second World War. More than 7,000 were built but none survived in flying condition in Europe.

THis has prompted the People's Mosquito to restore one to keep alive all of the memories of those who built, flew and worked on the aircraft nicknamed Mossie during its service with the RAF and many other air forces around the world.

Yet despite this slump, the House Price Index from the Land Registry for England and Wales shows a 0.5% monthly property price increase.

In England and Wales as a whole the average property price stands at £189,901.

Nationwide added that "healthy labour market conditions and low borrowing costs" are expected to "underpin a steady increase in housing market activity once stamp dutyrelated volatility has passed" – but this is all dependent on the economic recovery remaining on track.

First-time sales hit again in 'cool off' period THE annual rate of UK house price growth cooled further in May, after slowing the previous month, according to the Nationwide building society.

THe annual rate of house price growth was 4.7% in May, down from 4.9% in April and 5.7% in March.

In May alone, house prices rose by 0.2%, the same as the previous month.

THe Nationwide said one factor was that many people had rushed to buy houses in March because of stamp duty changes that took effect on 1 April.

Further evidence of the drop off in activity following the peak in March came in UK mortgage figures from the Bank of England.

THere were 66,250 home loans approved for house purchases in April, an 11-month low and down on the average of 71,075 over the previous six months, the figures showed.

THe volatility generated by the stamp duty changes – which added a surcharge for buy-to-let investors and the owners of second homes – made it difficult to gauge the underlying strength of activity in the housing market, said Nationwide chief economist Robert Gardner.

"House purchase activity is likely to fall in the months ahead, given the number of purchasers that brought forward transactions," he added.

"THe recovery thereafter may also be fairly gradual, especially in the buy-to-let sector, where other policy changes, such as the reduction in tax relief for landlords from 2017, are likely to exert an ongoing drag."

SEASIDE destinations have been named in a list of "rising stars" which have done remarkably well since the economic downturn.

Savills have named the best and worst places where property has kept – and even exceeded – its value, with many south coast hotspots given a spot on the leader's list.

f Anne Hathway's Cottage William Shakespeare was born in this house and grew up here with his parents and siblings. He also spent the first five years of his marriage living here with his wife Anne Hathaway. John and Mary Shakespeare were wealthy enough to own the largest house on Henley Street.

` Harvard House ONCE known as the Ancient House, the property was built by local businessman THomas Rogers in 1596; the year before William Shakespeare bought New Place.

Rogers also served as Alderman for the

Stratford Corporation, alongside John Shakespeare, William’s father. THe elaborately carved front of the building is a clear statement of his wealth and social-standing.

In 1909, the Ancient House in Stratfordupon-Avon was purchased by Edward Morris of Chicago and after extensive restoration, was given to Harvard University and became known as Harvard House.

THe Shakespeare Birthplace Trust has been caring for the property on behalf of Harvard University since 1990.

` Kenilworth Castle THE vast medieaval fortress of Kenilworth Castle is one of the largest historic visitor attractions in the West Midlands, and one of the most spectacular castle ruins in England.

Set in vast grounds in Warwickshire, Kenilworth is the perfect place for the whole family to go exploring and play king of the castle.

Kenilworth is best known as the home of Robert Dudley, the great love of Queen Elizabeth I. Once boasting the finest architecture in Elizabethan England, you can still imagine the ornate palace Dudley created for his Queen in Kenilworth’s magnificent ruins today.

THe authentically recreated Elizabethan Garden, an exhibition dedicated to Elizabeth’s visits to Kenilworth, and the castle’s very own costumed Queen promenading the grounds at events throughout the year, really brings this romantic royal story to life.

` Anne Hathaway’s Cottage ORIGINALLY a farmhouse built in 1463, this beautiful 500 year-old cottage is where Shakespeare courted his bride-to-be.

Here you will be able to see original furniture including the Hathaway bed and uncover five centuries of stories in this picturesque cottage and 13 generations of the family who lived there.

THe last Hathaway to own the cottage was Mary Baker, who sold the property to the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in 1892.

Her son, William Baker, still occupied part of the cottage and was allowed to live there rent-free for the rest of his life, assisting with custodian duties until his death in 1911.

City needlemaking trade brought into sharp focus

by Crispin Paine, Volunteer at the Novium Museum NEEDLEMAKING was once one of Chichester’s best known trades. No-one knows how or why needlemaking first came to Chichester but a record of 1308 mentions Richard le Nedler, and also John le Nedler who was an early city official.

THe trade was concentrated in the eastern parish of St Pancras, and in the period just before the Civil War, Chichester dominated the English market for needles, with every house in the parish said to have been a needlemakers. Unfortunately when that part of the city’s suburbs was attacked in 1642

during the Civil War, needlemaking also suffered. Despite much of the area being rebuilt, the trade never fully recovered.

One Chichester needlemaker, who died in 1733, left all his equipment to his son. He left a stock of 512,644 needles of various sorts.

THe needles, his working tools, his horse, hay, harness and coal were valued at £90, almost a quarter of his entire estate (which included his five-bedroom house).

By 1750, forty or fifty people were still involved in needlemaking and the trade supported almost twenty Chichester families.

However the trade soon started to diminish due to competition from areas in the North of England.

THe 1804 History of Chichester recorded: "Some manufacturies of this article were established in Birmingham and Sheffield; which, though far inferior to the Chichester needles in quality, yet being sent to market at less than one third of the price, obtained a sale on that score alone. It is some credit to this manufactury that it maintained its reputation of superiority to the very last. It sank under the cause just mentioned."

THe very last needlemaker in Chichester was the Parish Clerk of St Pancras, William Scale, who was still making needles in 1783, just eight years before he died.

SQUASH Club trio Richard Ragless, Derrick Longhurst and Buster Barton were crowned Division 1 champions after beating Hunston Hares in the Bognor Summer League Divisional Trebles Knockouts.

THe Newtown Social Club semifinals saw Hares’ Graham Clear, Mark Sheppard and Andy Stubbs overcome Luke Forden, Dave Juniper and Chris Williams (QE2 Cobras).

THe second semi-final saw last year’s Division 2 champions Ben Todd, Mark H Todd and Bradley Marshall (BRSA Ravens) lose to Squash Club.

In the final, Stubbs took the first darts for the Hares, and his team started better with Sheppard scoring a 140. Ragless followed with 100 and then Hunston

struggled with three small scores, giving the Squash Club the lead. With 83 on the board, Longhurst could only leave 35 for his team mates.

Stubbs needed 82 but missed double top for the win.

Ragless then stepped up and in two darts took the first leg for the Squash Club. Once again the second leg was close.

Longhurst was left with 130 and hit a treble and single 20 leaving him with 50 and one dart, but fell short. Ragless missed the double giving

Stubbs a chance at 96, but his last dart missed double 18. THen it was Barton's turn with 20 on the board, and in two darts the double was hit, taking the win.

In the Division 2 showdown, Peter Hall, Derek Mitchell and Janet Ayres (Chi Snooker 'A') lost to Gary Bryant, Jason McVite and Tom O’Sullivan (Claremont Wanderers).

THe second semi-final saw Dave Stone, Nathan Warren and Joe Osman (BRSA Wanderers) triumph over Bridgett

Derwojed, Tim McCarthy and Guy Watson (Friary ‘C’).

Claremont won the battle of the Wanderers in the final in a close win over BRSA. THe Division 3k semi-final saw Emma Bist, Adam Judd and Michelle Skeites (the Station) get past a mixed team of Steve Reynolds (ASC), Len Dixey and Les Mullinger (Royal Oak).

And the second semi-final saw Adam Hall, Ben Lubbe and Alex Richardson (the Station) edge out Rob Allen and Ashley and Debbie Clements (New Jacks).

So, it was, in the words of David Bowie: Station to Station. And, yes, Station won.

Inspired by Ali..he was the 'greatest' THE whole world stopped on the morning of June 4th to pay tribute to the most famous man in sport.

THe greatest heavyweight of all time, Muhammad Ali, was rushed into hospital with respiratory problems and lost his last fight 24 hours later.

I can only echo what the whole boxing community has said, in that he was nothing short of an inspiration to my personal development as a boxer.

I doubt there is a fighter alive who hasn't watched an Ali clip and hasn't been influenced by him in some way.

Ali inspired this once troubled kid to take education seriously – to read more, so as to be more articulate in conversation, like the great man was.

Being a keen poet, it was also the admiration of Ali that developed my thick skin to the insults of my peers when reciting my poetry as a child.

His defiance and showmanship has inspired not only sportsmen, but movie stars and entrepreneurs alike.

Ironically, a man who fought for racial equality and peace for most of his life, has brought together people from all ethnicities in mourning. In a time of religious tension, we see people from all walks celebrating the life of a fiercely devout Muslim.

His larger-than-life character just compliments his amazing story. Born in the racially segregated Louisville, Kentucky, Ali took up boxing as a means of learning to fight in order to beat up the culprit who stole his bike.

After a glittering amateur career culminating in Olympic Gold, Ali, then known as Cassius Clay, turned pro and won the heavyweight championship of the world against the feared Sonny Liston. I highlight this as my favourite Ali fight. Clay, 22, was probably the only man in the world who thought he would win.

After stopping 'THe Bear' in six, he iconically screamed how he 'shook the world'. After a four-year exile from the ring, due to imprisonment for refusing induction into the US army for the Vietnam war because of his religious beliefs, Ali came back to fight the great Joe Frazier in the first of three epic battles. Manilla' was one of the most brutal and gruelling fights in history.

THe flamboyant champion fought in an era where the best fought the best and beat notable champions like the aforementioned Frazier and Liston.

He beat Ken Norton, Earnie Shavers, Floyd Patterson, Ron Lyle, Bob Foster and our own Henry Cooper. All men who would have no problems beating any of today's 'alphabet' champions.

His last great performance came in his historic win against George Foreman in 'the Rumble in the Jungle'.

Ali used his 'rope a dope' tactic, soaking up Foreman's attacks, while on the ropes, to make the champion run out of steam. He capitalised on fatigue and KO'd him to take the title.

I'd be lying if I said I agreed with all of his skulduggery. Some of his jibes to certain opponents may have been a little south of the border. But he did apologise for some verbal onslaughts.

He cited the reason for the torment was that he felt a duty to sell any of his fights. You'd be pushed to find any great person without a nasty streak.

Boxing wouldn't be where it is today without Ali, he elevated the sport to new levels. I maybe playing devil's advocate, and rattling a few cages in saying Ali's death may be more significant than John Lennon's or Bob Marley's, because he fought for life right to the death, apparent by the 30-plus years he battled Parkinson's disease in a publicly cheerful manner.

With the amount of stars pouring their hearts out in tribute to 'the greatest', there's no way my words could do him justice. RIP to a real man, hero, conquerer, leader, oddsdefier and inspiration, not just to his fellow boxer, but to his fellow MAN.

DANIEL Beale took four wickets but it wasn’t enough to hand Stirlands victory over West Chiltington & THakeham.

THe visitors won by four wickets in this Sussex Premier League 1st XI Division 4 game after reaching 182 for six off 28.1 overs.

Stirlands had hit 181 for 10 off 52.2 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat.

Chilts’ bowler James Howgate was in fine form and took six wickets including that of Stirlands’ top scorer Torquil Deacon, who struck 47.

Leo Wilkinson-Beal managed seven

and skipper George Coles hit 20, while Jake Moores and Dan Mugford both went for seven runs.

Ajinkya Deshpande chipped in with 16, George Briancce hit nine, and Marcus Viner fell victim to Howgate for four.

Dominic Fecher enjoyed a decent knock of 31, Ned Renwick went for a duck while Daniel Beale managed 17.

Beale denied the visitors’ batsman Sanchit Batra a century when he ran him out while he was on 86.

THe home side went into bat after the visitors won the toss and elected to field and hit 84 for 10 off 16 overs recording a net score of 134.

Joseph eclipsed bowling ace teammate Matthew Geffen (right) this week with figures of seven wickets for 41 runs with eight maidens off 16.4 overs.

Geffen managed to take three wickets as the visitors set about the home side, who batted after winning the toss.

It was definitely a case of the Joseph and Geffen show, with the latter managing to help with two of the former’s wickets by catching off his deliveries.

Steyning hit 71 for 10 off 32.4 overs and in reply Chichester managed 72 for three off 28.3 over to record a victory by seven wickets.

THe home side won by six wickets after the visitors recorded figures of 169 for 10 from 52.3 overs.

Guy Montgomery took three wickets, Harry Randell one fewer, Alex Pegg took three and Albert Condron took two.

Chichester managed 172 for 4 off 44.1 overs with Alex Pendel hitting 37, Farai Shoko got 36 and Graeme Bennison struck 24.

Matthew Bennison managed 28, Will Futcher got 29, and James Stemp chipped in with five.

THe Fratton Park midfielder says he enjoys watching Bognor play the free-flowing brand of football insisted upon by management duo Jamie Howell and Darin Kilpatrick.

And the Pompey enforcer, 30, who lives in Fontwell, says he hopes to one day be able to wear the green and white kit.

He told the Post: “I’ve been down to Bognor to see them play a good few times and you have to admire the way they play the game.

“No matter what level you play at, you always want to be in and around teams who play the right way and that is the case at Bognor.

“I am 30 and would like to think I can play for another five years or so and if one day that means I can play for Bognor that'd be great.”

Hollands, who is currently in plaster after an operation on his ankle, has watched as a string of players including the likes of Jason Prior and Craig Robson have quit the Rocks and signed more lucrative deals elsewhere.

He added: "I understand the frustration of fans but in any other profession it's acceptable for someone to take a job in which they are rewarded more than the previous one. But I

CHICHESTER City striker Jimmy Wild is chomping at the bit to make an impression with the Rocks.

The Oaklands Park attacker has been handed the chance to team up with Jamie Howell’s men for pre-season training.

It will give Nye Camp chief Howell and assistant Darin Kilpatrick the chance to run the rule over the forward.

Wild was dual signed by Bognor in January but barely featured thereafter.

But since then the Rocks have lost Jason Prior and Alfie Rutherford and are in need of boosting their firepower.

Wild told the Post: “I am really relishing the challenge and hope to feature in some pre-season friendlies.

“I am so looking forward to it. It should be a great experience and I hope I can make a good impression.”

Wild will join fellow City player Jamie Horncastle at the Rocks on trial ahead of the new season.
