Takeover of House of Fraser Plenty of FREE Parking

BY KELLY WICKHAM kelly.wickham@sussexpost.co.uk

A BID to take over House of Fraser in West Street is underway with plans for a shop share. Richard Reynolds, founder and owner Shop Share UK has started a bid to take over the department store in the city centre.

Bognor Road, Chichester, West Sussex, PO20 1EJ Tel. 01243 756170 BrickKilnGardenCentre

Last month, Chichester Post reported that the retail giant House of Fraser was set to close its doors within the next six months. On Thursday, June 7, the business announced the closure of over 30 stores, including Chichester's, after it filed in the court, proposals for company voluntary arrangements, without which they had no viable future. Mr Reynolds said he visited Chichester

after the news and had a look around the store seeing its potential for Shop Share with plans to take over the store by January, when House of Fraser is set to vacate. He said: "I popped in to the store and had a look about and I was amazed at the fit out. It was only done about two years ago and they have spent a lot of money on it. "The majority of money spent in retail

by businesses is on shop fittings, and here is one with a great fit out so it's all there and okay. "The concept is to keep it as a type of department store but with a new concept. There are innovative ways of doing things and we need to embrace new technology. "Eventually, it could become a staffless store with any employees doing marketing, packing and exporting."
