Residents plan pub take over LOCAL loving residents are planning to buy a former pub in Aldwick. THe Friends of the Ship Inn are putting together a bid for the empty property to bring it back to life. THey hope to submit their offer to the building's owner, Ei Group, formerly Enterrprise Inns, in the next few months. Friends' chairman Roger Beam said: "We are now looking a making a realistic offer to the Ei Group for the Ship Inn site

"THe Friends always said a convenience store would not work in this location and that it would be left empty and derelict. "THey didn't listen and look at what has happened. THe Friends aim to put this right and save the Ship Inn."

THe Friends were formed just over three years ago when the threat to the historic hostelry became apparent. It was a successful drinking place at the heart of its community until they claim it began to fail because of changing managers and a lack of investment to keep up with the area's changing population.
