THe Rev Mark Eminson has joined the 1,600-plus campaigners who have written to Arun District Council to urge the rejection of the proposals.
In an unusual move for a parish priest, Mr Eminson said he was prompted to write because of the strength of feeling among his parishioners about the perceived threat to the village. He told Arun's director of place, Karl Roberts: "Mainly, I hope and trust that as a public servant you will be moved to listen to the concerns of the parishioners of Pagham, those directly affected by these plans, and that therefore you
will be motivated and inspired by the common good as opposed to targets of developers' greed... "Yours is, then, no small weight to bear, so I assure you of my prayers for wisdom and strength in your role. "May God indeed purify and search all of our motivations and may Pagham continue to be a good and desirable place to live, open to change and to the stranger, but may be not on this scale and
all at once!" Mr Eminson has been the vicar of St THomas a'Becket in Pagham for almost five years.
