industry depends. THe company behind the wind farm, which is sited off Shoreham, wants to come along past the Bognor Regis shoreline to end off Selsey Bill. But a Protect Coastal England spokesman has told councillors the ambitious proposal is not needed. She said the council members should encourage alternative development ‘in order to stop any further blight on the

seascape views from the historic West Sussex coast, an unnecessary blight which affects the local economy…and runs counter to the regeneration of the area’. “Given the many square miles of suitable seabed made available by the Crown elsewhere, areas with little or no on land economic harm, there is absolutely no national need for a Sussex extension.

“If Rampion insists on extending here, they it could extend further out to sea without jeopardising shipping lanes and, by using the larger turbines that will come in anyway, they would gain similar capacity,” she said.
