Support for ice rink revealed THOUSANDS of residents have called for a permanent ice rink in Bognor Regis. THey have said they want the attraction to be included in the regeneration schemes being compiled by Arun District Council for the town. A petition with their demand was presented to the council on Wednesday night by Bognor Regis Civic Society’s deputy chairman, Hugh Coster. THe formal submission of the 2,479
signatures took place at the council’s latest full council meeting. By exceeding the 1,500 threshold, it will have to be debated at a future meeting of the full council. Outside the meeting, Mr Coster said: “We closed the petition after just a month because the signatures came in so fast that our 1,500 target was passed before we knew it. “If we had continued, we would have
easily had 5,000 signatures or more, but that simply wasn’t necessary. “All we wanted to achieve was that Arun should debate the matter positively and sensibly.” Arun’s chairman, Cllr Jacky Pendleton, told the meeting: “A petition has been received from Bognor Regis Civic Society requesting a permanent ice rink for Bognor Regis. “I’m going to invite Mr Coster to
