PIPING IN THE STRIDE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
The Harbour Pipes and Drums Band brought residents out across Denvilles and Warblington to mark the Queen's 90th birthday and celebrate the public opening of the Stride Community Centre on 11 June. The Centre is available now as an attractive meeting place for people living in the area, alongside the new housing estates at Manor Farm and Nursery Fields. A crowd of visitors was entertained at the Centre by Wickham Morris dancers, the Emsworth Concert Band, Angel Radio and dance groups. The event gave neighbours the chance to meet each other and to take up new interests by joining community groups. The celebrations were organized by the Warblington and Denvilles Residents' Association and Councillor Tim Pike.

Postcode Publications backed Picnic in the Park Picnic in the Park was inspired by The Big Lunch initiative from the Eden Project in Cornwall. The aim is to get as many people as possible across the local community to have lunch with their neighbours annually in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun. We would like to thank Postcode Publications for their generous donation in support of this community event. ‘PO9 Pioneers’ Barney and Sara Barron invited members of the community to come together for the first of what aims to be an annual event. The event was organised by and for local members of the community who offered their various talents providing a range of activities from crafts, face painting, treasure hunt, photo booth, rescue rabbits, a community art project and much more. Park Community School generously hosted the event with lots of support both in the run up and delivery on the day. The community were able to enjoy the provision of laser quest, an inflatable assault course and bouncy castles. The event also benefited from the talents of Park Community Schools young sports ambassadors. Contd on page 2…
